The old parenting forum on hitched - which became the mumdrum - got folded into made for mums a few years back, but I don’t know if anyone used to use that here...

Might depend on how consistent the moderating is on their site. MN has been a minefield lately with certain posters being allowed free rein to rant/rave/goad while others are banned for next to nothing. *@PainyRuddles* - do you think these were the only 2 sites in the running for top dog? Surely not....

You have expressed my feelings exactly. I've only been here a few years, but lately I have noticed this too. There seems to be an aggressive, nasty element, who have arrived, demanding to be listened to and hound off any moderate posters or get them banned. Then they vanish off into the ether, a bit like their incriminating threads

Just had a look at Made for Mums. It's actually not bad! I did laugh at the article saying your feet can predict the sex of your baby, that was quite entertaining (in a weird way). It also helps new mums find information quickly and easily, which is good. It's a very different site to Mumsnet and you wouldn't use it for the same purposes so I doubt Mumsnet sees it as a major competitor at this stage.

I used to enjoy mumsnet thats the point, until it started turning into a place where people get jumped on for little more than starting a thread, or holding a differing opinion about celebrities.

You'd know plenty about that though, wouldnt you!

Roussette, what have they written about you and what thread?, I don’t go on all threads, so have no idea, I think there is only one mumsnet thread, I maybe wrong though.

I think some people are so irritated by that site because they have no pull there. They can't report and get anything deleted. Just my opinion.

Certain posters do seem to care quite a bit though to be fair.

Thanks for replying, I very rarely post on either of these sites, if something catches my eye, I read but often don’t post.

We should be able to co-exist, but for some reason it hasn’t happened, it’s a shame, as these are 2 great sites for all mums and many others.

Everyone needs different online sites at different times of their lives. Forums really shouldnt try and compete but should co-exist for the different needs of their members, which might mean being on more than one site, or just one...whatever suits.

I have fingers x'd this might happen but maybe I'm just naive
