The Daily Mail, has lost the plot, in decreeing that MadeForMums is in fact the UK's number one parenting site now, and not Mumsnet??

Grin I know! I've started a thread on site stuff about it, as I would love this option!

Hingeandbracket · 21/09/2020 16:59

How would the "ignore posts by poster x" option works when someone quotes them though?

Cassilis · 21/09/2020 17:00

It looks a bit low rent. I doubt even the trolls would bother there.

Cassilis · 21/09/2020 17:01

I guess you would just be completely invisible to that person, like on Facebook. Ghosted.
Wheresthesanitygone · 21/09/2020 17:05

There’s hardly any answers to people’s posts on it, how can it be the number 1 site? Surely the idea is to get answers to your problems, not be ignored? It looks a mess too. Think I’ll give it a miss thanks Daily Mail, there’s much better sites.

I have heard other people talk about getting banned for mentioning this other site.
What is the problem? Others here have mentioned Netmums, tattle etc. Will they be banned or is it just this one site that's the problem?

I agree an edit button would be useful. The many times I've remembered something I'd like to add or correct a spelling but it's too late.
Also the option to hide or ignore a poster would be useful as atm you need to hide the whole thread when it's only one poster you don't want to read.

TedsFederationRep · 21/09/2020 17:10

Mother of God, BakedCam. What did you do? Mention the site that must not be named or something?

Lie down in a darkened room and just chat to yourself, there's a good mum.

ChelseaDaggers · 21/09/2020 17:13

I guess you wouldn't see the post quoting the ignored poster, a bit like insta is when you block someone...although they don't have a quote function on there.
Shooglywheel · 21/09/2020 17:13

Avatars are great, adding emojis is great, editing, quoting, ignoring- all the things most forums have.

It’s such a shame we don’t have it here.

But I will be ordering a silicone toilet brush.

Wheresthesanitygone · 21/09/2020 17:14

How did someone manage to get deleted on a thread about a site no one has heard of?

ChelseaDaggers · 21/09/2020 17:14

Think they mentioned the site that must not be named!

If memory serves, this was one of the reasons the other place which must not be named was created - to show that it was possible to set up a forum with all these features for free when MN were asking for people to pay for them. Asking this when many people were being furloughed and struggling financially due to the Covid impact, felt unfair to many posters.
Susannahmoody · 21/09/2020 17:15

Pound land mumsnet 😂

TheFlixter · 21/09/2020 17:15

Oh Baked Cam!!!!

I hope I did not get you in trouble by asking for the name of the site!

Is this real? Do Mumsnet really delete posts mentioning it?

I just cannot get my head around it - and so many of you know of itSad

Doobigetta · 21/09/2020 17:17

Is there a Waitrose Mumsnet? That might be a nice place for a chat.

Wheresthesanitygone · 21/09/2020 17:18

If the DM have started calling this weird site number 1 have they stopped taking threads from here then? Not seen any about the new black board or other big issues in there for a while. Do they have a new favourite?

God, I didn't even try to link it. That was fast.

lifestooshort123 · 21/09/2020 17:19

The silicone toilet brush is an attractive addition to any home.

Cassilis · 21/09/2020 17:20

I’m confused, there’s about 9 mentions of Netmums that haven’t been deleted. Why do people think you’ll be deleted for saying the word like Voldy’s BAME?

ChelseaDaggers · 21/09/2020 17:20

Over my dead body would I pay for an internet forum of any kind!

Anyway, the ignore posters option is actually not even a premium or luxury feature imo. It's a way of staying safe on a forum where some people are downright bad and out for making trouble. I can sort of see why avatars etc might be seen as a luxury thing, but then plenty of other places do it, so 🤷‍♀️.

Cassilis · 21/09/2020 17:21

*Voldy’s name

Shooglywheel · 21/09/2020 17:21

The MadeForMums site is run by journalists who are mums according to their website so maybe that’s hoe they have connections to the DM.
Personally I prefer a place to relax and chat over a coffee.

Galacticat · 21/09/2020 17:27

SERIOUSLY?
People are getting deleted for mentioning another site but Net Mums and Reddit are allowed to be named? What about Piston Heads?
Could the Mods explain why this is?
