The Daily Mail, has lost the plot, in decreeing that MadeForMums is in fact the UK's number one parenting site now, and not Mumsnet??

Mumsnet are not going to slap your wrists for mentioning another site you know!

They will and do! Didn’t they delete all the posts mentioning it that one that sprung up from tattle?

But why??

Is it an illegal site or something?

Seems very strange to delete posts mentioning it, Mumsnet are not afraid of a little competition!

SulisMinerva · 21/09/2020 16:23

Any mention of it is deleted. Don’t know why it’s treated as an exception considering every other rival site is talked about.

Marisishidinginmyattic · 21/09/2020 16:27

Not an illegal site but they do anyway. My memory is shot today because I can't remember why they took such offence to it but I remember there being a thing/drama.

@TheFlixter
Hung drawn and quartered more like after being banished. Let's see if this whole thread goes down the pan (helped on its way by a silicone toilet brush).

ChelseaDaggers · 21/09/2020 16:30

@Pieceofpurplesky

I just clicked on one thread - a woman whose husband is watching porn and they are not having sex - the first response is buy nice underwear and get your hair done.
Sweet mother mary!

Mumsnet has its serious flaws, but it is by far the best parenting forum imo.

Quoting myself coz I had a nosy on the other site to remind myself and the drama was the £49.99 a year membership begging fiasco.

@BakedCam

I know right, What ever happened to Netmums, or that other one...

What other one? Haven't been on NetMums for years.

Damn, I want to know what this other site is. Becoming rather disillusioned with it here and could do with a decent alternative that doesn't call people hun and use text speak.

Preferrably one with an edit fuction, a like button (with an emoji selection), the ability to hide posters and not much censoring from mods would do nicely.

Tomorrowsanewday · 21/09/2020 16:33

Is the site in your link fairly new OP?
I have been mostly been sticking with this site, but recently I've noticed a quite toxic vibe has been wafting around.
Almost as if MN has been infiltrated by undesirables, probably banned from other sites.

It's always good to try new places I suppose so I'll pop over and take a look.

I have found this site helpful at times and you don't necessarily have to be a mum to come to chat.

Marisishidinginmyattic · 21/09/2020 16:35

I just realised what is happening here 😂😂😂

BakedCam · 21/09/2020 16:38

@UserABCDE12345

I can't quote - must have used my quota for quotes as I'm not a premium member.

Oh that site.

BakedCam · 21/09/2020 16:40

*I suspect they'll be the number one parenting site after they buy this place.

You heard it here first!*

Snorts.

What site? 😇

WorraLiberty · 21/09/2020 16:41

I've never heard of it Confused

I wonder if it's owned by the DM?

Oh, and you can't quote because my post has quoted someone else. You can only quote an original post, not a quoted one. Rather limited quote fuction really. If only we could quote quotes.

AdoptedBumpkin · 21/09/2020 16:43

Never heard of Made for Mums.

BakedCam · 21/09/2020 16:44

I've never heard of the one in the OP's link.

But I have heard of the site for chatty mums or not

Tomorrowsanewday · 21/09/2020 16:47

Oh my giddy aunt. I've just popped over to have a look.
Some of those posts 😳.
Are they by real posters?

Off topic I know but what's a silicone toilet brush?

BakedCam · 21/09/2020 16:47

So if we can't quote quoted posts, how do we quote?

I do wish this would be explained in straight down the line English. Like 'you just can't fucking quote quoted posts'

UserABCDE12345 · 21/09/2020 16:47

Maybe there has been a disagreement between here and the DM who may have been asked not to cover a multitude of posts that would be worth their while. Just musing. No proof.

Boom. You have understood it perfectly.
TheFlixter · 21/09/2020 16:53

But why is it okay to mention MadeforMums?

oh.... this thread will go poof as well because it mentions Madefor mums?

But Redditt and Nutmums, MSE etc., are mentioned frequently Confused

I think we need clarification about which site we are allowed to mention and which we can't - a list, a bit like the acronyms?
I don't want to get in trouble for talking about other sites - to be honest, I have just started really posting properly here.

I want to ask Baked Cam where she means, but don't want to get her into trouble.

This is ridiculous - we are adults! I am going to track down this site and name it - I cannot believe that Mumsnet would delete the thread. Perhaps when they did before there was a very good reason.

No doubt trolls were involved!

WorraLiberty · 21/09/2020 16:53

The other place (not the one in the OP) looks ok actually.

I like the like button function and how they're allowed Avatars Grin

Two things that have caused uproar on MN when they've been suggested.

ChelseaDaggers · 21/09/2020 16:55

@WorraLiberty do they allow you to hide posts from specific posters by any chance?

I don't know.

I might join if they do 😂
