To say that Tom Hardy as James Bond is all wrong

I just cannot get my head around him being the new James Bond. He just isn’t that. I know exactly what he will do to James Bond and if I know that already, why would I want to see the movie?
Please give us someone else. 😖

There’s something about Tom Hiddleston I just find a bit creepy*

*I’m sure he’s a perfectly pleasant person in real life it’s just a gut reaction

schubertdibdab · 21/09/2020 17:58

For God's sake no. Hardy is a superb actor but he's not Bond.

Hiddleston is also a no. He's just not Bond.

Jack O'Connell is a possible for me. He can do physical roles and he can do total arseholes too and let's be honest, Bond, at least in the book, is an utter horror.

Wishingstarr · 21/09/2020 17:59

I don't care if it's wrong. I want it.

GuyFawkesDay · 21/09/2020 18:01

They usually go for someone without a Hollywood profile. A British actor on the way up. Hardy might be a bit too well known.

Richard Madden
Theo James
James Norton

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 21/09/2020 23:43

Theo James is not a good actor IME. Chiwetel Ejiofor is brilliant but same age as Tom Hardy (43) which I'm inclined to agree with some PP is too old to start the role. Dominic Cooper too short.

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 21/09/2020 23:46

How about Tom Burke or Santiago Cabrera?

ChristmasCarcass · 21/09/2020 23:49

@HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts

Yes, Locke was amazing, apart from the dodgy Welsh accent. Not sure how much actual acting is required for Bond, so if anything I think it would be a step down for him.
Nah that accent was what made it, it was like sitting in a car with Richard Burton shouting at you about concrete GrinGrin
augustusglupe · 21/09/2020 23:58

I'm not easily pleased OP and tbh I have a pretty low opinion of most modern actors, skill and looks wise... but I could watch Tom Hardy all day long!! YADBU

DangerMouse17 · 22/09/2020 00:06

Theo James is a better actor than Richard Madden, who has one expression which he used in every GOT scene (dont diss Mr James). Wink

sweetkitty · 22/09/2020 00:49

Jamie Dornan

lotsofpotsandpans · 22/09/2020 01:19

I’m not sure if he’s the perfect fit for James Bond but who cares?! I’ll be watching it just because he’s Tom Hardy 🤪

PerveenMistry · 22/09/2020 01:43

@Wildthingsx

James Bond is meant to be a well educated Englishman - not saying Tom Hardy isn’t but he always brings a working class ‘bitta rough’ to roles

Which is great Grin but not for bond !!!

Yes.

He's absolutely horrible for the role. Whatever happened to distinguished men? Why does everything have to be reduced to the lowest common denominator?

He's a schlub.

TheYeaSayer · 22/09/2020 07:50

He has a shiny face and looks like he needs a bath.

Agree with s PP that James Bond needs to be more distinguished.

Pesimistic · 22/09/2020 07:59

Hes definatly not james bond

boobot1 · 22/09/2020 08:28

Yeah agree don't like him at all, don't understand anyone finding him attractive.

Serin · 22/09/2020 08:50

Noooooo
I always dreamed of Raza Jaffrey in the role.
He was so good in spooks.
As was David Oyelowo.
Sad
Tom Hardy is a boring and predictable casting.

SerenDippitty · 22/09/2020 09:05

How about Alexander Vlahos - Philippe in Versailles. He’s certainly got the twinkle!

It hasn't happened yet!

Nikori · 22/09/2020 09:16

It's all rumours though. I heard Daniel Craig likes to do this to negotiate a pay raise. Lots of names will get thrown around and then it will be decided that he will stay for one more movie after all. It's also free publicity for the next movie.

Stradivari · 22/09/2020 09:24

My people! My DH told me of the rumour and I actually got annoyed enough to flounce into the kitchen. He cannot do anything but mumble his way through lines, giving his version of broody/interesting which mostly makes him look constipated. I do not understand his appeal!

However, I’m not sure who is an up and coming British actor to replace Daniel Craig. I wasn’t sure about him when he was cast, but my god Casino Royale was electric. If they can recapture that element with the introduction of the next Bond, then they will have succeeded.

Serin · 22/09/2020 09:25

TheYeaSayer
Well that's something then!!
If you are watching JB casting people, please give Raza Jaffrey a call. Grin
I am not his Mum or anything.

He's 45. Simply too old to be cast as Bond. Same with Tom Hardy.

By the time either of these men made their first Bond film, they'd be in their mid 40s, which is just too old to start out in the role.

ladymalfoy · 22/09/2020 14:03

James Bond. A bit like Avon from Blake’s 7. A sexy, bad bastard.,

DressesWithPocketsRockMyWorld · 22/09/2020 14:17

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter Bond is meant to be tall isnt he!!!! Naffs me off that Daniel Shorter Than Me Craig got it. And now mumbly Tom Hardy ffs.

P.S. love your Father Ted username!

GuyFawkesDay · 22/09/2020 14:43

Bond is 183cm tall according to the books

So not that tall.....but that's based on 1940s averages, so realistically based on the fact everyone is a bit taller these days he'd be a over 6ft.
