This morning at the petrol station she was in the shop with her husband, they walked round several of the aisles without buying anything and then she went with him to pay for the petrol, he was wearing a mask and she didn't. He paid for the petrol and they didn't buy anything else.

She should have waited in the car, there was no reason for them both to be in the shop Angry

Get a grip!! Maybe she had a medical condition and couldn't wear a mask and was looking for something in the shop that they didn't stock. Get a life for god's sake.

I'm deeply depressed at the number of people on this forum, which I've found in the past to be mostly sensible intelligent grownups, who really and truly don't seem to understand the basic stuff about CV. It's not Politics, left or right. It's not The System Trying To Steal Your Rights. Refusing to wear a mask in shops or other public shared enclosed public spaces isn't Sticking It To The Man, it's being Socially Irresponsible. If you've inadvertedly acquired CV a few days ago, wearing a face covering means you're a bit less likely to share the lurgy with other people before you develop symptoms. Some of those other people will be older or otherwise more vulnerable, and would prefer not to be out and about but are stuck with it for personal reasons. And could you keep washing your hands too please?

frazzledquaver · 19/09/2020 20:10

@VainAbigail

Mind your own business FFS. You have absolutely no idea what was going on with them.

Bitchy post about nothing.

Thing is, it IS her business. Wearing masks is a public health issue. If she's exempt from wearing one, then she doesn't need to, but it sounds like there was no need for her to go into the garage.
VinylDetective · 19/09/2020 20:10

She had no reason to need to go for a walk in a small shop, they had a car they could go to a larger supermarket

What difference would the size of the shop make? Just stay at home if you can’t deal with real life, ffs. This situation is an absolute gift to people like you, isn’t it?

Dutchesss · 19/09/2020 20:10

I think that it should be OK to question someone (politely) why they aren’t wearing a mask.
It's really not OK for anyone to do that.

Flittingaboutagain · 19/09/2020 20:10

I came on to say I agree with you. People like to make excuses but in this it seems she was just browsing.

MoaningMinniee · 19/09/2020 20:11

There are some reasons to be unable to wear a face covering, both physical and mental. But I really don't think the numbers of people I keep seeing without one reflect anything like the numbers of genuine cases.

HansBanans · 19/09/2020 20:12

It's probably already been said but maybe she has a medical condition which means she is unable to wear a mask? Unless she was coughing like she smokes 40 a day it's none of your bloody business

fuandylp · 19/09/2020 20:13

OP Its about 9:1 against you. So extrapolate that across the country, turn it into non mask wearing behaviour and like magic in a couple of weeks we have full lockdown. And cases doubling every couple of days. And deaths shortly after

You cannot turn "9:1 against the OP" in this thread (actually it's 62:38 against the OP at the moment) and turn that into 90% of people won't wear masks so we will end up in full lockdown? Or have I misunderstood your post?

I have said that I think the OP is unreasonable in this situation as the woman concerned could well have an exemption for a medical reason. I wear my mask wherever I am required to. You cannot simply say people saying the OP is being unreasonable don't wear masks.

This. Masks provide a benefit for EVERYBODY. They help reduce the transmission of CV19 and enable the economy to open up at the same time. It is very unfortunate that some people are genuinely unable to wear one (or, even more rarely, able to wear neither a mask nor a visor), but everyone needs to take responsibility.

To question someone, to film someone. What's next then?

But people are not objecting to wearing masks on this thread or the vast majority aren't at any rate. They are objecting to the OP judging a woman in a petrol station who could be exempt from wearing a mask for medical reasons.

I don't see anyone on this particular thread saying anything about the system trying to steal our rights, sticking it to the man etcetc.

Well it may surprise you to know that large supermarkets have larger, wider aisles then small petrol stations so you can socially distance from people without a mask.

VinylDetective · 19/09/2020 20:23

HugeAckmansWife · 19/09/2020 20:25

what if i feel like a cat no, marks do not protect you, they help prevent YOUR breath and any virus particles on it carrying to others. How can you possibly not know this by now?

My dad can't wear a mask (severe claustrophobia and COPD). He was shielding and still hasn't been in a shop or cafe because he is so worried about judgemental arseholes like the OP. We have no idea why she was in the shop, what she needed, or why her husband wasn't able to choose it - possibly he is one of the many useless specimens on here who can't cope with simple instructions to buy X.

The actual chance of you catching CV by momentarily passing an unmasked person in a shopping aisle is absolutely miniscule. This is a prime example of people being utterly OTT and hysterical about risk which is far more dangerous than most of the other issues this virus has brought.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 19/09/2020 20:25

Would you be as pissed off if she went into the shop herself with no mask and had a look for what she needed? Or is it just the fact she went in with her mask wearing partner/friend that's annoying you?

mintyfreshh · 19/09/2020 20:27

Hi OP. I am exempt from wearing a mask. Today I did a Sainsbury's shop and had to get fuel on the way home, my husband (wearing a mask) had to come in with me because we only had his phone to pay with (Apple Pay). I hope you didn't just see me.

I mean, I can give you a detailed explanation of why he was in there with me and why I am exempt but, quite frankly, I don't owe you shit.

cosmo30 · 19/09/2020 20:28

op I think you should volunteer as one of those covid marshalls

I'd assume that she couldn't wear a mask but had to go into the shop as driving off without paying for petrol is not acceptable Grin

So he could go in without you to pay ?

OP you are coming across as really nasty. You know perfectly well that some people are exempt. However I have decided to start a business selling badges that say I'm exempt so fuck off and stop judging me!
Then again there's not much point, people like you would still judge.
It's none of your business, you must have better things to do with your time surely.
If you are vulnerable and worried then don't go out.

Flittingaboutagain · 19/09/2020 20:35

Sounds like he could have gone in to pay on his phone and that person could have waited in the car.
