This morning at the petrol station she was in the shop with her husband, they walked round several of the aisles without buying anything and then she went with him to pay for the petrol, he was wearing a mask and she didn't. He paid for the petrol and they didn't buy anything else.

She should have waited in the car, there was no reason for them both to be in the shop Angry

She could be his carer, or him her carer

As a mask frother thread it's a bit of a disappointment.
oakleaffy · 19/09/2020 17:54

Seems MN are sometimes like little Dad’s Army Wardens- complaining about trivia and reporting threads in a huffy, Karenesque manner.

TitianaTitsling · 19/09/2020 17:54

@SophiePie

This is pathetic, did you consider that maybe she's exempt? Perhaps next time you should ask her full medical history in the shop Hmm
Absolutely! Op would you have found acceptable had she had a badge displayed with the reasons why she was with him? Possibly a dementia or something else that would mean it wouldnt be safe for her to be in the car on her own?
Dustyroad63 · 19/09/2020 17:55

What a nasty judgemental post. None of your damn business op.
I can't believe how shallow you must be to actually post this.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 19/09/2020 17:55

That's very different to walking round a petrol station shop when you are not buying anything.

Maybe she intended to buy something and they didn't have it.

Or maybe she just fancied going into a shop and having some degree of normality in her bloody life for 5 minutes and didn't think a total stranger would be watching her walking around each aisle and checking if she was purchasing something with her phone poised to post on MN about it immediatly.

Next time you see this, may I recommend rugby tackling the person outside the shop and demanding answers as to what they are doing and why they aren't wearing a mask.

Yeh like she was licking the items and putting them back, not this tripe the op is spewing.
REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 19/09/2020 17:55

I'd hate to be your neighbour OP with you nosing into other people's business. Why don't you get a helpful sign you could wear and you could remind people to put on a mask and not to go into a shop unless they buy something.

steff13 · 19/09/2020 17:56

Maybe they didn't have what she was looking for. 🤷‍♀️

oakleaffy · 19/09/2020 17:56

Indignant of East Sheen.
Not wearing a mask!! Looking at stuff!
Whatever next😳

Rosebel · 19/09/2020 17:57

Oh dear, my husband is excempt and went to a DIY shop today and they didn't have what he wanted so left empty handed.
Obviously he should have known they didn't have what he wanted. FFS!

fuandylp · 19/09/2020 17:59

Are you trying to start yet another mask fight on Mumsnet?
There seems little point in your post other than some kind of attempt to get people raging about the "selfish" woman in the shop with no mask on.

It's absolutely none of your damn business whatsoever. You have no idea why they were both in the shop and no idea why she wasn't wearing a mask - she's probably exempt.

The worst and possibly most dangerous thing about this pandemic is not the virus itself but this sort of behaviour - checking up and reporting others or stirring up bad feelings on the internet about mask wearing and whether people are breaking Corona regulations such as how many people can meet.

Libertylee · 19/09/2020 18:00

Bet you’re the kind of person who’s going to snitch on the neighbours. Please mind your own business, there could be many reasons why that person had no mask

CaramelEmporium · 19/09/2020 18:01

I don’t agree with the OPs take however I find it hard to believe that there are so many exempt people around. Of course there are people with genuine exemptions, but I also think there’s a lot of people who have no sense of societal responsibility and just don’t give a fuck so don’t wear masks.

pigsDOfly · 19/09/2020 18:01

Couldn't get worked up about it tbh.

I was in the supermarket soon after we were told to start wearing masks.

Great big long queue waiting for the checkouts. Man and woman queueing together both wearing masks. She's wearing her properly, he's got his tucked under his nose.

Yes, I looked at them and thought, well, that's pointless, I wonder why she doesn't point out to him that he's wearing it wrongly.

These thoughts went through my head at the time because I was bored and had nothing else to think about but it would never occur to me to start a moany thread about it on mn.

Laaalaaaa · 19/09/2020 18:01

Disgraceful. A law needs to be implemented immediately to stop this happening going forward.

SantaClaritaDiet · 19/09/2020 18:03

ahem.. mind you own business?

Since when must we buy any crap for the privilege of entering a shop? Hmm

She went to a shop, didn't find what she wanted and wasted her time. You should complain about the shop then? Grin

If my local M&S garage doesn't have the M&S sandwich I was in the mood for, I am not buying anything. Shall I be scared of being punched in the face? I even go there even if I don't need petrol...

ErinBrockovich · 19/09/2020 18:03

Definitely cause for a police report.

Quaagars · 19/09/2020 18:04

How on earth do people notice all this stuff, seriously just whut
Why were you watching her wander round the shop, noting whether she did or didn't buy anything?
How do you know she wasn't mask exempt?
Seriously mind your bleedin own lol

SantaClaritaDiet · 19/09/2020 18:04

I am a bit puzzled by it too. So many Brits are exempt whilst other countries manage perfectly well. I don't think I saw one single person without a masks when I went abroad this summer, maybe they hide at home?
Yaottie · 19/09/2020 18:05

Mind your own bloody business

LagunaBubbles · 19/09/2020 18:05

My DH is exempt because he has asthma, thus is from Asthma UK guidance. Asthma is very common!

BoggledBudgie · 19/09/2020 18:06

Sod off with your holier than thou attitude. People are allowed to go to the shop and not buy anything. People have reasons for not wearing a mask that has nothing to do with you. Not everyone is able to go out alone, and not everyone WANTS to go out alone. If you’re that terrified of someone wandering around in a shop without a mask then lock yourself away in your house and don’t bother going out ever again. God knows no one would give a shit.

pigsDOfly · 19/09/2020 18:06

Yeah, I've walked around petrol station shops looking for things in the past that they haven't got and ended up coming out empty handed.

Didn't realise someone would be watching and judging me for my lack of purchase.
