My dd who has severe learning and physical disabilities is back in school for the first time in over 6 months and has come home giggling everyday !!

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 20/09/2020 17:56

My favourite whisky was on offer in tesco yesterday so I bought a bottle (only usually at Xmas)
The family all think I'm in the kitchen cooking dinner. I'm actually sat in the garden all alone with a glass of my whisky enjoying the last of the sunshine 😊

Taking my DS to Uni this week. he got into his first choice uni having (finally) got the A level grades he deserved. He's very excited and positive about going even in this unusual year. He had none of the stress of A level exams and got to spend 6 months at home instead where we went on country walks and bike rides, to our local beach and he learnt to cook.

Sorry to hear you are not good.
Me too.
Sadly lots of us out there ready to tip over the edge.

No good news to add today though.

CathTurnbull · 20/09/2020 18:13

My good news is I’ve just found half a bottle of rhubarb & ginger gin in the cupboard and ginger beer in the fridge. Hooray!

TheLittleDogLaughed · 20/09/2020 18:31

Great thread.

I have a contract and advance payment to write my first novel (which I’ve been working on in spare moments for 7 years!)

I can’t share my good news readily though as I work in the museum / gallery sector and most of my closest friends and colleagues are losing their jobs, dh’s daughters have both lost their jobs, my mum is covid-19 positive with severe dementia and my brother is having an awful time frontline NHS.

So thank you for making a space to share something good.

Genius!

I was feeling singularly tired, fed up, and morose this morning. . . a glass of sav' blanc and a saussie in a bun, with onions and home-made tomato sauce made me feel a lot better at lunch time.

Just spoken today to 5 of my favourite people. We love and support each other and just wish that the idiots behave themselves and we can get back to hugging each other and having as many people as we like in our own homes .

fran245 · 20/09/2020 19:28

Well done x

ohcarolina2001 · 20/09/2020 19:40

I am making scallops, leek and bacon on crushed new potatoes with lashings of butter and cream followed by pecan brownies with salted caramel ice-cream for dinner tonight

fastandthecurious · 20/09/2020 20:20

I hit my savings goal today and finished Christmas shopping for DC. Wee Ed went to the park and I wore shorts outside for the first time in years and felt good Smile

fastandthecurious · 20/09/2020 20:20

We went* that should say

janj2301 · 20/09/2020 20:25

DrGachet, congrats, my 40 year old daughter had to wait 2 years and then covid happened and all her assessments were done via zoom

pinkyboots1 · 20/09/2020 20:27

I made apple crumble using apples from my Mum's apple tree and it came out perfect. The apple and mixed fruit was fluffy and sweet and the crumble tasted like slightly salty shortbread ... OH was delighted

carlywurky · 20/09/2020 20:48

We spent the morning on the beach.

Our new air bnb business is doing unexpectedly well.

We've been out for dinner 3 nights in a row. Unprecedented this year!

I have a lovely pile of new books to read.

Holidays from this year are now rebooked for next without too much loss.

Brandalley had 7 for all mankind jeans in my size for once so i got 2 pairs...

And 2 hush skirts in the John Lewis sale...

Dp bought me the coolest pineapple plant 🍍

HappyHen17 · 20/09/2020 20:54

I feel the same.
I stayed in today with my baby boys. I made cakes with my toddler and my baby giggled a lot and we all cuddled. It was a good day.

SallySeven · 20/09/2020 21:06

@TheLittleDogLaughed congratulations! That's a wonderful opportunity.

SurroundedByIdiotsEverywhere · 20/09/2020 21:12

I only watch the news once a week or if I hear something important has been announced that day...

Maybe a few on here should do the same as the news is doing the usual of pushing the worst sort of narrative!

You will deal much better, I know I do...

nerysw · 20/09/2020 21:25

I took my son to the comic shop where nobody recognises that he's 9 and about to be diagnosed as dyslexic. His mixing with grown ups in a tournament of a weird card game I don't understand made me so so happy. Get your happy where you can.

browneyes77 · 20/09/2020 21:36

Sorry you’re feeling down Flowers

My good news is that I do wildlife photography as a hobby and one of my shots was selected in a competition I entered earlier this year, to be digitally displayed at the Photography Show this weekend (was originally meant to be at the NEC, but it’s a virtual show now thanks to Covid). So I feel pretty proud of that little achievement Smile

Shaniac · 20/09/2020 21:37

I got a new part time job today and treated myself to a 2.99 bath bomb in boots and a katsu curry whilst dp was out. Was a nice day :)

Shaniac · 20/09/2020 21:37

Hope you feel better soon op Flowers

Shaniac · 20/09/2020 21:38

@browneyes77 wow thats an amazing achievement congrats!

Yay a happy thread! 😁

I had a takeaway tonight because I've been dieting/exercising like mad (with only a few chocolate related slip ups) for over a month and I've lost half a stone. 😁 So I needed a treat.
