@BoreOfWhabylon

FGS how many times. It wasn't until halfway through this thread that I was aware that starting our own threads were necessary to garner the attention of *@MNHQ*. hmm

Tagging MNHQ in posts doesn't work. Report a post if you want to draw their attention to a point you (or some else) are making or start a thread in Site Stuff. It's also worth reporting your own thread in SS to be sure MNHQ see it.

Or email them [email protected]

Thank you, I am beginning to do this now and hoping for success. I just wasn't aware before and very much resented being belittled for trying to get MNHQ's attention the best way I knew how. I never once argued against the new board, in fact I wholeheartedly supported it and defended it to multiple posters attacking it. I really resent being lumped in with the racists.
bellinisurge · 17/09/2020 15:30

There's Craicnet and Scotsnet. Why shouldn't there be a Black Mumsnetters topic?

Lockdownseperation · 17/09/2020 15:33

Daffodil Here are some flowers to decorate the new place.

I’m sorry for the racist shit you have to deal with from some people on MN.

SecretWitch · 17/09/2020 15:35

Who in the hell would actually believe this board is not needed?

I am a white woman but will do whatever I can to support this space.

Ha! I didn’t know this. And there’s Gransnet. All of which occasionally have people outside the core demographic posting if relevant. Seems a bit ridiculous to oppose- hope you get a good community going! Flowers
SingingSands · 17/09/2020 16:29

How have I just seen this?! This is great news!

Ablackrussian · 17/09/2020 16:46

It's an allotment in the Garden of Eden. Let's all calm down lol

Bewarethesealions · 17/09/2020 17:28

Not a forum for me as a white woman, but it's interesting reading another perspective. Naysayers need to calm their tits.

Hadjab · 17/09/2020 17:37

@DoubleDolphin

"I see no difference between this and groups for SAHMs, home schoolers, ex pat's etc"

I guess for me, the difference is that we are not told we cant go on these threads, whereas we are being told if you are not black, you cant go on the black only forum.

@DoubleDolphin You can totally go on the threads if you want, no one can stop you, but the real question is what can you actually bring to them? What experience do you have of being a black parent?

I always get a reply from MNHQ when I use the 'report' function. It's not just for complaining about posts.

Soontobe60 · 17/09/2020 17:53

@DoubleDolphin

And is that not..well... a teeny bit racist?
Would you say that a board dedicated to lesbians was heterophobic, or one dedicated to children with disabilities was able-bodyphobic? (Yes, I know Ive made those words up but you get the gist) I should think that different ethnicities have concerns specific to their ethnicity. Black women are very different from South Asian women - to assume they should all be grouped together is, in itself, at the very least ignorant.
PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 18:02

@Words

Hi PR

It's great you have your new board, well done!

However, please don't deny that you said at one point early on the first thread, I think, that white, mixed or other ethnicities would not be welcome. I read it with my own eyes and recall how surprised I was.

I doubt Mumsnet would have countenanced that anyway, which is fine, so I am sure it won't be moderated in that way.

Hi

I definitely did not say that.
I am mixed race myself so why would I say that? Hmm

That's a lie

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 18:07

@OhReallyThen

*It's not that it's necessary.

It's respectful.

This is a thread about our board, black mumsnetters. No one should come on and flip it to make it about them. It's disrespectful.*

It's a thread in AIBU talking about a minority group board. It makes sense as a place to draw attention to @MNHQ that the new board is fantastic and other minorities would also like to be considered for one. Especially as so many other posters have seen my post and agreed. It makes sense that other minorities would come here to see how you did it successfully so we can do the same. You've paved the way.

I have posted tons of other comments on this thread praising the new board and defending it to idiots calling it segregation. I fully respect your board. Maybe you could have a little bit of respect for other women who experience horrific racism celebrations your success and looking to emulate it rather than being just another person to tell us 'this isn't your place'. I haven't gone and posted this on the new black mnetters board, this is a thread about getting a new board, that's what I was referring to.

I wish you well with your new board and really hope you can have some sympathy and support when the fight starts for our ones.

This is a thread talking about the black section.

Coming on any thread about a black section and requesting one for you is similar to interrupting an acceptance speech and bringing it back to you. I want to have an acceptance speech.

That isn't how you do it.

I would never post on a thread asking for/ showing a new section for specific people and start campaigning for a section for others. That's no different to the ignorant people coming on and demanding a white section. (Apart from the fact that they are bloody racist idiots) but you get my point.
We do share some of the same struggles which is why I would never hijack another ethnic minority's post
Thanks for the well wishes.

@Mushypeasandchipstogo

I could understand a BAME board but not solely black. Sorry but I think that this is really racist. Could you imagine the outcry if there was a Whites only board!
Do you find it racist (or perhaps more accurately, xenophobic) that there's a Scotsnet section and a Craicnet section, but not an Englishnet section?
Quaagars · 17/09/2020 18:25

Mushypeas I think you're the first person to say that! Grin
Are people actually reading the threads or going straight into defensive wot about me! mode?!

This thread is really upsetting.
What should have been a cause for celebration has been turned into an expectation to justify.
It’s like the men coming on the feminist board asking what about us? Whatabouttery at its finest.
Why do some people think they get to police other people’s space.
If you’re not black, a black board has got fuck all to do with you.
There are plenty of other spaces on this board and elsewhere and if you want to start your own thread about inclusive spaces, go do it.
Congratulations 🥳 I hope this space created by yourselves goes on to provide you all a source of comfort and a place to share information and experiences. Flowers

AMemeByAnyOtherName · 18/09/2020 11:26

@Venicelover

It was definitely said that anyone other than those who were black would not be welcome on the board. It was not said just once, but several times over the thread in posts that have been deleted.

Unless that is acknowledged, the issue will not go away or be moved past by many posters.

I can see from the board (which is now up and running) that is not now the case, which is great, but that was the original intention of PR.

As I said earlier; not only was that not said, but simply reading the posts that are there on those threads will prove that that wasn't the sentiment, either. Then, as you mentioned, the boards do not exclude anybody, PR has been on virtually every thread and not told anybody they weren't welcome. There is literal proof that you're wrong, and zero proof that you're telling the truth. You seem to just want a group of people to blindly believe this and be incensed, which is creepy Confused.

If you reported any of the 'anti white' posts, you'll have them quoted in the response email from MNHQ. You could screenshot that and paste it here for the world to see.

You're talking bollocks.

Where are all these deleted posts you're referring to?

Perhaps I should ask HQ to check the deleted poets.

Why would I exclude myself (mixed race) from the board I campaigned for?

I suspect you're from PLMN. A lot of stirring is going on rn.
