Any Sainsburys staff here?

Shameless abuse of AIBU, but looking for traffic.

If you work for Sainsburys, could you let me know what's happening to your changing and toilet facilities — for staff, not customers. Do you still have separate male and female loos and changing facilities or have they been merged to unisex in the name of diversity?

Any thoughts or info gratefully received.

Why don’t you do an FOI to Sainsbury’s to get the actual official answer?

pastabest · 14/09/2020 10:19

Sainsburys are a private business not a public body.

Might be quicker to ask Sainsburys themselves on Facebook or Twitter....

Shedbuilder · 14/09/2020 10:25

I have asked the CEO and have received an evasive answer, which is why I thought I'd go to the people who really know what's going on.

You can only issue FOI requests to public bodies and Sainsbury's is a private company.

I know people who do work there and no, nothing has changed as far as I'm aware.

Er, the OP Hmm

DappledOliveGroves · 14/09/2020 10:51

I thought Baroness Nicholson had received a reassuring reply from Sainsbury's that she'd posted about on Twitter?

beckysamantha91 · 14/09/2020 10:52

head office have 2 gender neutral toilets on the ground floor and then toilets on all other floors are male or female + disabled

why do you ask?

unmarkedbythat · 14/09/2020 10:53

What an odd request; if you are an employee, you would know this information already, if you are not, how is it relevant to you?

RunningFromInsanity · 14/09/2020 10:58

I imagine the OP wants to go on a rant about how it’s against our human rights to have to pee in the same room that a man has...

If there’s a lock on the door it really doesn’t matter.

unmarkedbythat · 14/09/2020 11:00

That's my take on it too, Running, but I'm giving the OP the benefit of the doubt in the hope this isn't another thinly veiled attempt to whip up a bit of trans related fury.

ancientgran · 14/09/2020 11:01

I'm sure Sainsbury's staff are perfectly capable of raising any issues without other people poking their noses in.

draughtycatflap · 14/09/2020 11:02

Did the the CEO reply “Unless you are an employee it’s none of your business. Oh and fuck off and buy your bananas somewhere else.”

Heyahun · 14/09/2020 11:04

@draughtycatflap 😂😂😂

So this is of no concern to female members of staff? Do people have no idea on how it is very rare for them to be consulted about these ? Because one person does not have a problem with mixed sex changing rooms , doesn’t mean that others do not. And concern is not about whipping up hate.

BriocheForBreakfast · 14/09/2020 11:11

Just because you're in a cubicle it won't stop people like this one.

YABU

Everyone who actually needs to know would already know. People asking silly questions so they can whip up some online fury really need to get a better hobby

DetectiveRandySomething · 14/09/2020 11:11

Starting to think people like the OP have a toilet fetish since that's all they seem to talk about.

RoseTintedAtuin · 14/09/2020 11:18

There’s an anti-trans board on Mumsnet?

OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 14/09/2020 11:18

Gosh, some people really don't want OP to ask this question.

How on earth is it transphobic to want to keep sex segregated spaces? Why do we segregate at all if it’s so unimportant?
I wouldn't want to change into a uniform in front of male colleagues. No issue with people who don’t mind but they don’t speak for everyone.

JustCallMeGriffin · 14/09/2020 11:27

@RoseTintedAtuin

No, Heyahun is being facetious.

The feminist board raises concerns about the erosion of sex based protections for women, but it isn't anti-trans. Transphobic and anti-trans comments are not supported on MN and users have and will be banned for using them.

The erosion of single sex spaces and sex based protections is a massive issue for many women. Just because "Jane" would be happy to share a hospital ward/prison cell/changing room with a man identifying as a woman, it doesn't mean that other women would be.

tiredanddangerous · 14/09/2020 11:28

What has the op said that's transphobic? Confused
