To ask you to tell me lovely things about your baby boys?

After years of infertility (involving surgery, TSI, chemical pregnancies and a clotting disorder) and IVF, we're having a baby. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, we did NIPT and it all came back clear. And it's a boy! We're so, so thrilled. He has a beautiful heartbeat which I can hear on my doppler as well as having seen it on scans. He had the hiccups on the last scan, which was adorable.

Please indulge me and tell me lovely things about your little boys. (We'd have been just as happy with a girl. It just makes it feel so much more real to know that he is a he, if that makes sense.)

The biggest cuddles, lovely chuckles, endlessly inquisitive. Instinctively kind. Managed to open his own yoghurt pot when he was a baby, then crawled over to another baby and opened his lid for him too. So cute.

Firebird83 · 14/09/2020 00:22

I have a 2 year old boy and he’s such a character. He’s so gentle but also has a big personality, he’s funny, loving, enthusiastic, sensitive and clever and definitely a mummy’s boy!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 14/09/2020 00:28

I adore my dd and my ds. Ds is 9. He loves a cuddle, wraps himself around me, is uncomplicated and sunny. Every storm is quick and can be fixed by tickles and smiles. He is one of the lads, untroubled by having multiple groups of friends. Everyone says he's polite and lovely. I'm very lucky.

CilantroChili · 14/09/2020 00:29

Mine is 12. He’s just... I can’t describe. My heart lifts when he walks into the room.
Easy baby, easy toddler.

He has just the sunniest personality, full of chat and jokes and stories. He’s (still!) so cuddly... he tells me he loves me every single day and brings me a cup of coffee every morning. Gets on great with his dad, lots of friends. He’s fascinated by life and science and the natural world, so curious about everything and he is Just...the bees knees 🐝🥰

CilantroChili · 14/09/2020 00:41

OP, just going back to one of your posts... I KNEW it was a boy (nearly from when I got out of the bed!! Blush)

Susannahmoody · 14/09/2020 00:49

DS was an absolute pleasure. Slept 7-7, solid 3 hour nap during the day until he was around 3. Always in a good mood, always smiling.

Total ball of energy. Once he started walking I didn't sit down until he was 3. He ran everywhere. No fear. Would climb anything, no fear of heights at all. I was utterly knackered. He never sat still.

Took him in a cafe once, never again till he was around 3. Just wouldn't sit still at all. Had to go walk around the empty mall before it was open to get him exercise in winter. He'd be up at 6am, we'd be going crazy by 9am!

He's 6 now, loves Bruno Mars , AC-DC, Zz Top, dancing around and singing, ninja warriors and generally having fun. Total champion.

pinkcheesecake · 14/09/2020 01:12

First of all congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I have a 18 month old and I can say he is such a mummy's boy. Very affectionate, very cute (not biased lol everyone comments on how cute he is) and generally a happy chap that warms up easily to everyone. He is very cheeky and gets up to all sorts of mischief but is hilarious. I can only comment on friends daughters who are similar ages and older and I find them a bit of a diva and cold but there are also very cute girls totally the opposite. I don't know what the future will hold but I definitely enjoy spending time with DS and doing boisterous activities with him. Good luck

pallisers · 14/09/2020 01:17

He is 23 now and I spent a bit of time in lockdown looking at old photos. god he was the nicest, happiest baby and toddler and such a great kid generally - even now. we had such fun with him. I used to play down how wonderful he was to other mothers because I knew they were disappointed their babies weren't this perfect baby! I laugh about that now but I distinctly remember thinking this - pfb indeed.

My girls were fabulous too.

Branches1 · 14/09/2020 01:28

I have two girls and a boy. A funny and unexpected difference between parenting the girls and my boy is the amount of (positive) attention he got/gets from men! While people who like children generally smile and chat to any child, my son used to get high fives from workers on construction sites we walked past, friendly discussions with taxi drivers about his favourite football team, men smiled at him and chatted with him on the tube, and older boys would invite him into their games if he was lucky. Clearly they found it easy to relate to him in some way

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 14/09/2020 01:35

Congratulations!

I have a 2.5 year old and even though he is not cuddly he shows his love in so many ways.

He cries if I get hurt. I banged my head on a chair last week and he still remembers and keeps saying mummy got hurt.

He loves to bring me presents. It might be a stick from outside or a block.

He helps with chores. He brings the online food shop in with me to the kitchen. He empties the dishwasher with me and has a sense of pride.

If I fix something of his or reach something from a high shelf he says 'well done mummy'. If I have made him a nice meal he claps for me.

When I carry the washing basket downstairs he says 'careful mummy'. He really just cares.

For him there is no one like mummy and I hope he stays that way.

BeaLola · 14/09/2020 02:43

Congrats OP

My "baby" is gorgeous, amazing wonderful, funny, awesome and quirky.
He can be stubborn, daft and challenging but so can I Wink.

He still loves to snuggle even though he's 12 , he holds my hand and calls me Mummy or one of his special names he has for me like Mu Mu la Foo Foo which I Love .

He can drive me nuts arguing about doing his homework and leaving his clothes all over the house. I had him when he was 4.5 after infertility, 5 ivf babies lost and he is my greatest joy - he has taught me what love really is and with his wondrous eyes has made me look at the world with my eyes wide open. We have already shared so much and there's still so much more to come. He made us a family and he rocks. I adore him and he has made my world complete. Every day is better being loved by him & DH

You will sooooo love your little boy Smileenjoy every single second .

Inthewoodshed · 14/09/2020 03:49

Huge congratulations on your pregnancy!

My gorgeous boy is almost five months old and genuinely the best thing that has ever happened to me. He's already got buckets of personality - he's cheeky and smiley and funny and SO happy, but with a stubborn streak! He loves to chat away to us (and has done since he first learnt he could make a noise) and you can make him properly giggle just by smiling back at him. He constantly wants to be on his feet (my arm muscles are great!) and is just fascinated by the world and constantly staring around at everything trying to take it all in.

It sounds saccharine but today I just looked at him and cried because he's just so wonderful. He's also absolutely beautiful with big, bright blue eyes and the loveliest smile. I absolutely love being his mother and wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 14/09/2020 03:56

My boy is 15 months and he's the best little sidekick I could ask for. He loves to be out and about and comes everywhere with me, drinking everything in through his big brown eyes.

He's silly and chatty and loves to mAke us laugh. He loves his doggies more than anything and they love him too.

He's completely fearless and also a total mush. He's either demanding cuddles, or trying to kill
Himself doing something dangerous and foolhardy.

I luffs him. He's the best.

zoobaby · 14/09/2020 04:57

Congratulations Valid.

My boy is coming up to 8 now... Best 8 years ever!

Children are just magnificent in so many ways. Enjoy motherhood.

WhatWouldJasonBourneDo · 14/09/2020 05:22

Just you wait until you see that first smile around the 6-8 weeks mark!

When he goes all coy and sweet and smiley.

Be still my beating heart!

Just brace yourself for when he gives out his first proper laugh.

Obviously these apply to both boys and girls. I bet you never knew that your heart could be filled even more every single day.

Zerrin13 · 14/09/2020 09:20

After telling you about my handsome big son and how much I love him, I just wanted to mention my 2 daughters.
Yes girls can be more complicated, friend issues etc, maybe not as affectionate but I have almost a bone aching love for them.
It diesnt matter one bit to me if they are more difficult than my son. In lots of ways they are not. They are just wired differently.
They are all unique and the loves of my life.

Fridaysgirl17 · 14/09/2020 10:26

We have two boys, our oldest is 3,he is adventurous, loves trucks,Peppa pig, dinosaurs, helping his grandad, going for walks and climbing into our bed for snuggles early morning,he's also a fantastic big brother to his new brother who is 7 weeks old,he's just beautiful too, still in the baby stage, loves kisses and when you bop his nose,he's getting chubby and loves his feeds,he's very different from his brother but his personality is starting to shine through

pinkyboots1 · 14/09/2020 10:58

My boy is nearly 21 and he's absolutely lovely. He's a very gentle, funny and considerate young man. He is extremely family orientated and totally devoted to his younger sister.

AmbitiousHalibut · 14/09/2020 11:35

I have two sons and when they were little they would go everywhere in superhero suits. I have photos of them playing crazy golf dressed as Spidey, having babyccinos dressed as Batman, and so on. It was adorable.

We could pass hours watching trains come into the station, or watching diggers on any building site.

They are still affectionate and kind and funny. I always wanted a daughter, to be honest, but my boys have been an absolute blessing. My heart is bursting a bit just thinking about them Smile

MrsEG · 14/09/2020 13:54

Ahhh @ValidUser - a boy!! Congratulations!

My twins are 7.5 months now, the most fabulous little boys. They are so, completely different and yet still so fab in their own ways - I have one who is just so placid and happy all the time and another who is very shall we say spirited! Loves the sound of his own voice haha. They’re brilliant, rolling, crawling, laughing. They honestly make my whole heart burst. Just like all the lovely stories in this thread, so many people just couldn’t wait to tell me how amazing boys are when I found out I was having two, and they were right!

roarfeckingroarr · 14/09/2020 14:01

@Ted27

Congratulations *@ValidUser* you sound so excited

My not so little boy is a strapping, stinky, stroppy 16 year old who won't be seen with me in public and can drivel on for hours about football and F1.
He is also caring, funny, charming and loves his poor old mum to bits. He still comes for a cuddle and kiss before he goes to bed and we chat about our day.
He makes a lovely cup of tea. On Friday I had two teeth extracted and the first thing he did was put the kettle on.
He still indulges me by putting out mince pies and carrots on Christmas Eve.
We have spent many an exciting day together at athletics meetings cheering on on our heroes.
He tells me I'm beautiful.
I adopted him when he was 8 so didn't get his baby or toddler years. He tells me he is going to have 4 children so I can help look after them and cuddle lots of babies !
He's a cracking young man and I'm incredibly proud of him

Absolutely didn't get a tear in my 36-weeks-pregnant-with-a-baby-boy eye reading this. Not at all.
Porcupineinwaiting · 14/09/2020 14:07

I have 2. One is into science, computers, drumming and engineering, the other computers, singing and dance.

Neither was ever into mud and dinosaurs, which was a pity as I love both! I thought I'd watch a lot of sport w two sons but I sit through a lot of band rehearsals and dance recitals instead.

Just let him show you who he is. He will amaze you. Grin

courtwood · 14/09/2020 14:27

My three sons are the light of my life, warm and kind, endlessly fascinating, my youngest gives the best hugs, my middle man is 12 and goes everywhere with me and my eldest at 16 is chatty ,makes me a cup of tea every evening and loves to help with cooking.
There's too many trainers and trackies in my house, I know way too much about formula one, animals and minecraft than any Mom should but I wouldn't change a thing

Velvetbuzzsaw · 14/09/2020 17:49

Oh wow! Enjoy your baby boy - be prepared for sore arms and knees whenever you stand him up on your lap and he practices flexing his legs, non stop, for hours - they're not called "bouncing baby boys" for nothing Grin . Seriously, my DS(9) has always been a lot more cuddly than my DD(12) who loves her Mummy too. Lots of love and luck Star

Ted27 · 14/09/2020 20:09

@roarfeckingroarr

I have no baby pictures of him but several from when he was a toddler, he was the cutest thing
Sometimes I am sad that we missed so much, but mostly I just feel priviliged to have him in my life.
