After years of infertility (involving surgery, TSI, chemical pregnancies and a clotting disorder) and IVF, we're having a baby. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, we did NIPT and it all came back clear. And it's a boy! We're so, so thrilled. He has a beautiful heartbeat which I can hear on my doppler as well as having seen it on scans. He had the hiccups on the last scan, which was adorable.

Please indulge me and tell me lovely things about your little boys. (We'd have been just as happy with a girl. It just makes it feel so much more real to know that he is a he, if that makes sense.)

That as they grow up they are handy for reaching high up things, saving you from spiders etc as babies they are very cheeky and loving.

ViolettaJauntyVioletta · 13/09/2020 14:30

Seeing male people through from the point of being helpless newborns to the cusp of adulthood has certainly given me a different perspective on what it means to be male. My boys have always been affectionate, loving and generous. Utterly delightful as squidgy babies, charming as crazy toddlers, fascinating as tweens and now interesting, focused and wise as teens. With an undercurrent of daft as brushes throughout.

It's been a wild, wonderful and exhilarating ride and you're going to love it.

Congratulations on your boy!

Henrysfakebarns · 13/09/2020 14:40

Congratulations on your little boy OP, your posts just beam with the love you have for him already!

My DS is 11 months old, he is just beyond wonderful. He is very loving, loves to crawl over for a cuddle and a kiss. He also loves to laugh! He's just learned how to clap and wave and does this whenever he likes something. He loves little toy cars and chasing them around, and reading stories. Giving him cuddles and reading him his bedtime story before putting him to bed is the best thing in the world.

AzraiL · 13/09/2020 14:42

Congratulations OP! How exciting!

My 10 year old son is sporty, deeply affectionate, compassionate, loves babies and always takes it upon himself to entertain kids younger than him. He's also quick witted - some of the one line responses he comes up with really surprise and amuse me. And he adores his older sister.

My friend has a 5 year old and I call him 'the little academic' - he's really shy in the beginning but once he warms up to you he's like a 50 year old in a child's body - he's incredibly bright and observant, and already has a really dry wit - he just blows me away with the things he says sometimes. I tell my friend that one day he'll either grow up to be in Forbes or will win a Nobel for something.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 13/09/2020 14:48

Congratulations op what wonderful news Smile

Ds is 12. He is an amazing boy. Easy baby so contented. He is loving, Bright, clever, Very funny (this is so often missed out about parenting how funny children are), kind, thoughtful (well he is nearly a teenager so sometimes not) laid back and easy going. We have had challenging times but he is so wonderful if I were to have 10 more children I would happily have 10 more just like ds Grin

thats not to say I wouldn’t love a girl as much or that I want 10 more children Grin

ClinkyMonkey · 13/09/2020 15:08

I have 2 boys. I wanted a girl first time, but happily adjusted after my 20 week scan showed I was having a boy. And by the time I was pregnant again, I actively wanted another boy because I just wanted more of the same. DS1 is 12 now and like a bouncy, enthusiastic puppy. I admire him so much, as I am such a stick-in-the-mud and he wants to have a go at everything. He's very chatty and always seems to find the exact words to get his meaning across. He's not terribly into hugs, but that's ok because he is incredibly caring and has real sense of what is fair. He likes shiny things and glitter!

DS2 is 8 and very affectionate. He is funny and does silly dances which have us in hysterics. But he is also quite shy so the 'entertainment' is confined to our own home! He always notices when I'm feeling a bit low and asks me if I'm ok. He's a sensitive little soul, yet rolls around the ground scrapping with his friends in some very rough looking play fights!

They are fab.

ShinyGreenElephant · 13/09/2020 15:10

My DSS5 is so loving and affectionate, hes a typical boisterous boy but so, so gentle with his little sister and makes so much effort to play in ways she can join in and enjoy. He has a hilarious, crazy imagination and comes out with such funny, out-there comments and phrases. I used to think I wouldn't know what to do with a boy (we have 3 older daughters and I have 3 nieces and 2 goddaughters) but I would love this baby to be a boy, purely based on how gorgeous DSS is

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 13/09/2020 15:11

All the cuddles and allll the love!
My girls were far too busy for cuddles, especially after around 8 or 9. But DS is my little softie and tells me he loves me and gives the best cuddles. ❤️

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 13/09/2020 15:14

He once drew me a chart called at chart to show when I love you' and he filled in every box with 'yes'.
Honestly I have no idea why he came up with it but it was so adorable.

Rosebel · 13/09/2020 15:15

My little boy is still a baby (nearly 13 weeks) but he is lovely. He has a huge smile which makes me melt and loves being cuddled.
He gets cross with his dad if he's playing on his phone and tries to grab it which is also rather cute.
He is fascinated by the cats but they keep their distance once they realised he wasn't gentle, just flinging his arms near them!

Thurmanmurman · 13/09/2020 15:17

My boy is 8. He's loud, hilarious and kind. He tries to act cool in front of his mates but he always comes for a kiss and cuddle when they're not around. He's the light of my life. Congratulations OP.

weasledee · 13/09/2020 15:22

Congrats OP! I have 2 boys and just like others have said, it's are just so loving and they love their mummies :)
You're in for the most exciting of times ahead...... :)

Ted27 · 13/09/2020 15:23

@LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett

yes indeed, it took me a long time to find my boy, I knew it was 'him' the first time I saw him.

@MrGreenTurtle, well it's like I tell him, what if Father Christmas is real and you didn't put a mince pie out - some things in life you just don't risk

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 13/09/2020 15:23

Right now, he's got a cheeky little attitude.i ought to tell him off but he makes me laugh!

He thinks I am the absolute centre of the universe and it secretly feels lovely.

Candyflosscookie · 13/09/2020 15:27

Many congratulations on your much wanted pregnancy.

My boy is a teen now. He was the smiliest happy baby and fairly easy going toddler. He's always been very affectionate, loves his cuddles, shows huge compassion for others especially animals, thinks deeply and has a strong sense of right and wrong. He also has a very dry sense of humour and makes me laugh a lot.

He did fit the "adventurous" stereotype as well before tech/gaming took over and as a mum you may have your heart in your mouth several times as they fling themselves fearlessly at life, ascending stuff, falling off stuff, climbing over stuff, crawling under stuff ... girls can and do too I know, but there seems to be something in boys where they just don't even look at the danger where they are going Grin I was on first name terms with the X-ray lady at children's A&E. it's all worth it though! They are amazing.

My four year old starts school next week. He is amazingly creative, and sings non stop. He wants to be friends with everyone and believes there is nothing that cannot be fixed with a hug. His of nursery told me he had the coolest personality and they had never met anyone quite like him!
His baby brother is 2 and gives the world best stealth cuddles - he sometimes races across the room just to throw his arms around you and nuzzle his head into your neck. He giggles like a drain and loves nothing more that climbing into your lap with a book.
They are both the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

Betsyboo87 · 13/09/2020 15:35

Congratulations OP! I have an IVF DS too. He’s only 2.5 months but his cheeky personality is already there. He did his first little chuckle this week and it was his dad farting Grin. I absolutely love the smiles he gives me when he wakes each morning.

I always imagined having a girl but from the moment we found out he was a boy I can’t imagine anything else.

Wishing you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy. Such a lovely thread.

CharDee · 13/09/2020 15:36

My DS is 5. He is hilarious, loving, caring and adventurous. He has the most wonderful imagination and always wants to learn about new things. He loves snuggles and cuddles and kisses. His best friend is dh. They are both so similar and they have so much fun together playing video games, football, superheroes and drawing. I'm his favourite person to read stories with, dance and sing with, play with teddies and cuddle up to.

I thought going back to school he might be a bit embarrassed to have his mum kissing him at the school gates but he asks for a kiss on each cheek and on his head before he goes in and then gives me the same kisses. Then we rub them in so we feel loved all day. We also have a secret signal for when he feels a bit overwhelmed, scared or a bit anxious where he points his finger out and it touches mine and we both say zzzap which means we share each others brave. I had an interview the other week and said to DH I felt a bit nervous about it and DS just zapped me and told me bit to worry.

Congratulations! Soon you'll be able to tell the whole world how amazing your son is and you won't get tired of looking at him. And then when he's asleep you'll just look at the thousands of photos of him in awe! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and I hope it goes really quickly and you're having gorgeous new baby cuddles before you know it! Thanks

FunTimes2020 · 13/09/2020 15:40

@Yeahnahmum

What an odd question. I am very happy for you , you got your pregnancy . But to me this sounds like you are dissapointed of not having a girl and looking for some positives about having a baby boy.
I think it's just you that read the OP that way... Hmm
Bbq1 · 13/09/2020 15:42

He's 15 now, was a beautiful baby and is now a handsome teen. Was much wanted, we ttc for 4 years. He was a truly gorgeous baby slept well, fed well and rarely cried. He could talk really early and was so funny with the things he said, he used to have people crying with laughter. He is now growing taller than me by the day, is very clever and still super talkative. Plus, we're still great friends. I love my "baby" so much. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you a lifetime of happiness with your little boy.

Thurmanmurman · 13/09/2020 15:43

@Yeahnahmum what a mean, unnecessary comment.

popcorndiva · 13/09/2020 15:46

My DS is just turned 2, he loves koala cuddles, bubble baths and charms everyone he meets. He has huge blue eyes which might have something to do it with it. He loves dancing and is a little Mr motivator getting me to run in the kitchen. Boys are awesome

Emmnooo · 13/09/2020 15:55

I have three and they are the most gorgeous, cuddliest three in the world. I’ve been a bit off colour recently and they have all been so loving and caring. I adore them ! Good luck op
