To ask you to tell me lovely things about your baby boys?

After years of infertility (involving surgery, TSI, chemical pregnancies and a clotting disorder) and IVF, we're having a baby. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, we did NIPT and it all came back clear. And it's a boy! We're so, so thrilled. He has a beautiful heartbeat which I can hear on my doppler as well as having seen it on scans. He had the hiccups on the last scan, which was adorable.

Please indulge me and tell me lovely things about your little boys. (We'd have been just as happy with a girl. It just makes it feel so much more real to know that he is a he, if that makes sense.)

My baby boy is 9 months and trying desperately to start walking with my help. He screams with delight at just about anything and has the best laugh. He is currently rocking an old man with no teeth face and generally bouncing around the place.

Minesril · 13/09/2020 13:06

My 6 year old has my big brown eyes. Blond hair. Dimple in one cheek. He's absolutely beautiful. He's also very cheeky, very smart. His reading is amazing.

My five month old looks like he's getting the same blond hair but his is accompanied with enormous blue eyes! He has chunky baby thighs and tiny feet and tiny hands. He giggles when his brother blows raspberries. He is also beautiful!

ValidUser · 13/09/2020 13:18

I know this is entirely trivial, but I'm going to buy him a tiny little farmer hat.

My ds is 8 now. He has freckles to die for! He lives life like he’s in a musical. A weird and wonderful planet he’s from but I’m privileged to visit Smile

I completely and utterly adore him. He makes me laugh every single day

aToadOnTheWhole · 13/09/2020 13:24

He's nearly four and is an absolute joy, he makes me laugh from my boots and proud to my core. He LOVES cuddles and sitting by my side or on my knee. He wakes me up every morning with a kiss and a "I love you mummy". He's a thinker and will try to work out how everything works/moves/goes. He loves imaginative play and dressing up. He likes jumping off things and climbing. He has the best sense of humour and a dreadful temper. He has an immense sense of logic and can (and does) regularly outthink me and his Dad. He's wearing wellies and shorts in 22° heat today because why not?! Grin

tara66 · 13/09/2020 13:27

They love their mummy more than girls do (generally)!

SpacePug · 13/09/2020 13:29

I'm expecting my second DC, another boy 😍 my DS is 21 months, he presses buttons on his hey duggee teddy then dances to the music it plays. If one of his favourite programs comes on TV he has to come and sit on one of our knees for the intro so we can watch it with him. If we're not in the room he comes running through and I go sit down so he can sit with me as he gets so excited. We play this game where he cuddles me and I say Ahhhhhhh then when he pulls away I say Oh! And he laughs and cuddles me again and I say Ahhhhh and it goes on for at least 10 cuddles 🥰

LucyTamedOgres · 13/09/2020 13:29

Ds (14) was a tricky baby with an awesome temper during the toddler years but also had a very caring and sweet side.

Thankfully that caring, wonderfully thoughtful side evolved and he’s (most of the time) a joy to have around.

He’s not perfect, he can be stubborn (like me) and tests the boundaries but that’s part of growing up, he actually grew taller than me during lockdown Grinwhich he absolutely loves, apart from when I wear heals!

Oh, I still get a hug every morning before he heads off to school, I really hope that never changes.

BouncyTigger85 · 13/09/2020 13:31

My 7mo son is so full of energy, crawling wherever he can and wanting to touch EVERYTHING.
He is so happy and smiley, loves raspberries being blown on his tummy and finds his dads head when It’s very near him hilarious (not sure why lol)

ThisIsMeOrIsIt · 13/09/2020 13:31

My DS is about 21 months. He is toddling about like crazy but not saying many actual words yet. He loves being silly and having a laugh and is fascinated by things like light switches and clasps!

He is currently fast asleep, having thrown all his books and toys out of the cot except one, which he 'read' for a bit before falling asleep.

His smile just lights up any room.

Si1ver · 13/09/2020 13:32

My IVF boy is 18 months, he's so fast and curious and his comprehension is off the charts. He does this awesome thing every night where he charges around upstairs while I sit on the floor, repeatedly running up to me and flinging himself into my arms so I can lift him up like he's flying, before wriggling free and running away again. It's his favourite game.

He also likes to hold my hand if his dad is pushing the buggy, curl up next to me on the bed to read a book, lay his head on my shoulder and press his face in my neck when having a cuddle if he's sad.

I'd always thought I'd have girls but he is the most perfect thing in my life ❣️

Oysterbabe · 13/09/2020 13:37

My son is 2. He likes to sit on my lap and hold my hair when he's tired or just waking up. Since learning about the names for different emotions he also likes to tell me how he's feeling. In those moments when he's sleepy and holding my hair and just having a cuddle he'll often say 'I'm happy mummy' and it's the cutest thing in the world.

SamsMumsCateracts · 13/09/2020 13:37

Congratulations OP. I have two boys following infertility. The lovely things? Boys are so, so much fun, they love unconditionally and are full of energy. If you're ever feeling down, having a toddler boy will cheer you up. It's impossible to not to smile because of their antics and pure, unbridled joy at the simple things. My youngest would get so, so purely excited at seeing a van, just any old, plain boring van. They really reminded me to appreciate the simple things in life.

Oh and dodging pee fountains at nappy changes is always entertaining!

Tobebythesea · 13/09/2020 13:41

Congratulations!! I have an older girl and a 1 year old boy. He is so cute and squidgy. Far more cuddly than our DD. Makes us laugh every day. He is stronger physically and very active. I think once he starts running, he will never stop!

Laurie01 · 13/09/2020 13:41

My son is 14 and still a little boy but I can see the young man evolving, such a kind and loving boy, still loves snuggles, and still needs tucking in at night.

Carycy · 13/09/2020 13:42

Boys make the cutest babies. Especially if they are bald to begin with. They can rock bald ( girl babies take longer to blossom - I say this as the mum of both boys and a girl who is a total beauty now) .

You can dress them up as bears. There is nothing cuter than a baby boy in bear onesie.

They give you full on rough cuddles. You feel half beat up / half loved. My eldest boy is like an excitable Labrador with paws that are a bit too big for him.

They are easier to do a nappy change with as everything is wipable ( nothing worse than a girl Pooh nappy when it gets in their bits)

They feed like little hungry monsters.

I kept my boys hair long as toddlers. Baby boy curls are to die for.

Be prepared to do a lot of train related stuff. Boy like train rides.

They are definitely more exhausting as they get older. Mine need running like dogs daily.

Phillipa12 · 13/09/2020 13:42

I have 3 sons, they are loud, full of energy but also very affectionate. My youngest is 5 and he called me the love of his life yesterday, I'm also his favouritist and bestest mum!

Ethelfleda · 13/09/2020 13:43

Ah massive congrats to you OP!

My little boy is nearly 3. He is an absolute delight (most of the time Grin)
I remember crying so often when he was born simply because I love him so much.

He will run up to me and ask for a cuddle and out his little hands on my face and look straight at me and say ‘I love you mommy’
Not a story I would tell most because it’s saccharine round belief but well placed on this thread I think.

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2020 13:44

My three boys are in their 20s. They are awesome and they are such fun to be around. I learn as much from them as they did from me, and I'm fascinated by these lovely men they've turned out to be. They give the best hugs and they adore me as much as I adore them

ClarencesMum · 13/09/2020 13:46

I have no experience of girls, only boys here but my god I love the bones of them.

They are affectionate, kind, loving and so much fun! They have pushed me out of my comfort zone more times I can care to remember. I know more about Star Wars than I ever knew I wanted to.

At 8 my youngest still come sin for cuddles, tells me I'm pretty and dress fancy when i put a dress on.

One is an absolute dirt magnet. He can be out of the house for 5 minute and be manky. The washing machine is never off. Football, karate, rugby and skateboarding have meant a few trips to A&E though!

spiderlight · 13/09/2020 13:46

Mine was a gorgeous cuddly baby, an affectionate, hilarious toddler, and is now a (mostly) sweet and funny teenager who still gives me loads of hugs.

Prettybluepigeons · 13/09/2020 13:49

I have 2 sons who are pretty much grown now.
They are the light of my life. They are such good company; funny, loving, kind, intelligent.

They give amazing hugs, listen when I rant etc

My youngest and I share quite a few interests and like to take part in activities together.

When they were little, they were absolutely adorable.

Enjoy your little boy- it is wonderful to be a mum to boys!

OlympicProcrastinator · 13/09/2020 13:52

My son is 14 and we are really close. He’s so loving, much more affectionate than my girls and is a kind, cuddly gentle soul who plays so nicely with his little sisters. He’s so funny too. It’s been such a pleasure watching him grow, make friends, and become a lovely young man. He has brought his dad and I immeasurable joy as part of our family. Congratulations OP.

Durgasarrow · 13/09/2020 13:57

He is so funny and individual. His courage inspires me.

Piccalily19 · 13/09/2020 13:57

Congrats OP! I’m 19 weeks and just found out our little baby is a boy, I’m so excited as it’s my first baby so watching this thread purely for the heart melting joy of it all!
I found a big thread from 2017 called “to ask what are the best things about having a little boy?” And that’s such a delight to read too!
Good luck with your pregnancy!
