To call my baby this

So we decided this name in September 2017. We had been trying for a baby for a while and knew this would be our girl name when we eventually fell pregnant.

Anyway, we have since found out we are having a baby girl and I am due very soon.

We decided to call her Cove.

But now I'm worrying that it's too close to Covid, especially since she will be born during the pandemic.

I'm not too worried about people liking the name personally, but more worried about whether she'll be teased in future because of its association with Covid? Am I over thinking?

What about Kova or Nikova instead?

I would avoid it at this time. It does sound too much like Covid. 'Cove' is also an old-fashioned term roughly equivalent to 'bloke'; while most kids nowadays wouldn't be that familiar with the term, it's still slightly risky especially for a girl IMO. Better to give her that as a middle name, and something else as a first name.

The name Cove means Small Coastal Inlet and is of English origin. Cove is name that's been used by parents who are considering unisex or non-gendered baby names--baby names that can be used for any gender. Cove Stats.

Could you use it as a middle name or maybe use an alternative as a middle name (imo they're all a bit out there to be used as a first name)

Please choose other names, OP. Several people have given you lovely sea-related names. How about Emirah for her middle name? Arabic for "princess", I believe. Would get the royal Egyptian reference in.

Honestly I think at any time it's a bad name (and I like unusual names) but especially now. It's almost as bad as calling her *Brixton as that's where she was conceived!

Also the word ‘cove’ is an old fashioned word for ‘man’, but usually used in a slightly derogatory way (like ‘he’s a strange old cove’) so I don’t think it ever had the best associations.

If it’s the beach association you like, how about something like Coral / Coralie / Coraline?

I actually know a baby Cove, she's about 3months. So it's definitely can be a female name
