Apparently there wasn't enough butter to make his sandwiches.

I'll attatch a photo, please do let me know what you think. I'm not taking him seriously, obviously.

When I said that there quite clearly is enough for two ham sandwiches he said "well I just like alot of butter" and chose to leave without any sandwiches at all and a face like a slapped arse.

I suspect he's got the ump about the fact that my DM had sandwiches here this afternoon and is blaming her for the lack of butter (I never use it)

So just for my amusement..

YABU - there isn't enough
YANBU - there's plenty

Oh bloody ‘ell if he’s gone into another ‘ump tell him to stop being so mardy.
Ps, loads of ‘butter’ left in that container!

Felifox · 12/09/2020 19:19

I use proper butter, leave a bit out so it's soft otherwise buy the spreadable butter which does have some other ingredients. But I tend to keep at least 500 gr of butter as I use it if I decide to make brownies or a choc mousse meringue

msflibble · 12/09/2020 19:25

Your DH is being silly and petty. If you have a rubber spatula then he'd be able to get easily enough for 2 sandwiches. If you don't have a spatula, you need one!!

liverbird10 · 12/09/2020 19:39

LTB immediately!

Beamur · 12/09/2020 19:44

Haven't rtft.
Why didn't he use a bit of mayo or mustard to pad it out and make it taste nicer?
He's a fool to sulk by not making any sandwiches!

MulticolourMophead · 12/09/2020 19:56

@popsydoodle4444

I think the real issue is his infantile selfish behaviour.

He doesn't like your mum so sounds like he's deliberately creating issues so that you don't have your own mum around.

There's absolutely no reason for him to behave the way he has today other than he's being a manipulative dick.

Plus the fact that he clearly sees shopping as OP's job, since he still didn't come back with more.
hedgehogger1 · 12/09/2020 20:11

There's loads there!

cuntpuncture · 12/09/2020 20:53

What a cuckold!

Inkpaperstars · 12/09/2020 23:09

What was the result of the poll? My browser is out of date so it doesn't show for me.

SoupDragon · 12/09/2020 23:38

@cuntpuncture

What a cuckold!
What do you think that word means?
averythinline · 12/09/2020 23:50

Wow he's lovely isn't he...your mum is helping with the dc and he's fucked off that she's had a sandwich...and there is insufficient in his mind spread to make a sandwich so he strops about having to buy a sandwich..
Seriously......how crap is that.... what about his maturity attracted you to him??

DiggerDave · 13/09/2020 01:53

I wouldn't get unreasonably annoyed, but I did actually eat a sandwich my dad made me today and god it was dry.

KatherineJaneway · 13/09/2020 06:31

@Inkpaperstars

76% YANBU currently

Beamur · 13/09/2020 09:22

I voted YABU strictly on the question - there isn't enough butter. But is he being ridiculous to make a big issue out of it, then YANBU.

Inkpaperstars · 13/09/2020 10:06

Thanks @KatherineJaneway!

I am a bit surprised.

FinnyStory · 13/09/2020 10:19

Is it possible he has reason to be pissed off with your Mother's visit? I mean, I can't imagine a guest in the house using the last of the butter and not mentioning it to anyone. If your mother is so comfortable in your house she's making her own sandwich, is it possible she's there rather too much?

That said, I'd have to be really broke before the next tub wasn't purchased long before it got to that point, so whoever's is responsible for shopping/putting it on the list has messed up.

SerenDippitty · 13/09/2020 10:37

No one needs two sandwiches for lunch. Agree about margarine being disgusting. Slimy. I can even imagine the sound and feel of the knife scraping against the bottom of the tub. Urgh.

By two sandwiches do you mean one round? I.e two complete slices of bread with filling between, cut in half? Are you saying that is too much?

FinnyStory · 13/09/2020 10:45

No one needs two sandwiches for lunch

Really? Does no one do a manual job or an intensive exercise regime? I often have 2 sandwiches (four rounds) for lunch. I'm 50 with a BMI of 21. I don't have marg in them though Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 13/09/2020 11:50

WTF is 'a round of sandwiches' and where do you live to use the that terminology?

Bargebill19 · 13/09/2020 11:51

@BarbaraofSeville

Usually north of Watford gap services. (Yorkshire first us!)
FinnyStory · 13/09/2020 11:52

A round of bread is one slice, a round of sandwiches is made from two slices. I don't think that's regional?

FinnyStory · 13/09/2020 11:54

I don't think it's a Northern thing, we're in Essex and my Kentish GPs would have said it, so would my Yorkshire ones. It's probably more old fashioned than regional, I don't think it's something my young adult DC would say.

safariboot · 13/09/2020 12:00

That's empty! You might be able to literally scrape the barrel and make one last sandwich at a stretch.

With your DH working nights his options for buying lunch are more limited, so I understand his annoyance.

Did DM not tell you or DH that she'd nearly finished it off?

BarbaraofSeville · 13/09/2020 12:29

@FinnyStory

A slice of bread is a slice of bread.

A sandwich is made from two slices of bread or more commonly, a breadcake.

I'm in Yorkshire and have never heard anyone talk about a round of sandwiches.

FinnyStory · 13/09/2020 12:33
