Apparently there wasn't enough butter to make his sandwiches.

I'll attatch a photo, please do let me know what you think. I'm not taking him seriously, obviously.

When I said that there quite clearly is enough for two ham sandwiches he said "well I just like alot of butter" and chose to leave without any sandwiches at all and a face like a slapped arse.

I suspect he's got the ump about the fact that my DM had sandwiches here this afternoon and is blaming her for the lack of butter (I never use it)

So just for my amusement..

YABU - there isn't enough
YANBU - there's plenty

Just about enough.

Will he shop for some on his way home?

Metothee · 12/09/2020 12:37

Definitely not enough for two sandwiches, one perhaps but not two. He sounds like a bit of a moaning Mildred though!

userxx · 12/09/2020 12:43

Plenty there.

Palavah · 12/09/2020 12:55

I would be annoyed if someone had used almost the last of something that I would need and either not replaced it or told me so that i could get some more on the way home.

Margarine is grim.
If that isn't enough for his sandwiches then it isn't enough for his sandwiches.

RB68 · 12/09/2020 13:06

Well why is he in a bad mood with you - its not your fault is it? Maybe he should have made his butties earlier or should cut down on animal fat or just had mayo like any other normal person

KatherineJaneway · 12/09/2020 13:40

@ExclamationPerfume

That would last us a good 4 days. How much does he use?
🤣🤣🤣
KatherineJaneway · 12/09/2020 13:41

@SwanShaped

No one needs two sandwiches for lunch. Agree about margarine being disgusting. Slimy. I can even imagine the sound and feel of the knife scraping against the bottom of the tub. Urgh.
That depends though. What the individual had for breakfast, how much physical work they do in their job per day etc.
NiceGerbil · 12/09/2020 14:00

Right about the two sandwiches thing. Totally agree. Mix it up a bit. 1 sandwich 1 roll different filings. Packet of crisps. Banana. Few cocktail sausages maybe. Nice milkshake. Something for afters- a bit of cake maybe. Some grapes are always good.

Way nicer than 2 sandwiches with Marge!

SwedishK · 12/09/2020 14:18

It's annoying when it happens but it's life.

My husband used to drive me nuts with taking stuff I relied on. For example, we have separate bathrooms so if he runs out of toilet paper in his toilet he goes into my bathroom and takes my roll rather than just go downstairs and get a new one for himself. So then when I go to pee I don't have anything to wipe myself with.

He also sometimes would go into my bathroom and take my toothpaste if he's run out. He would never put it back. A couple of times he's even taken my toothpaste on work trips so there I am at 11pm, about to brush my teeth and there's not a drop of it to be found anywhere in the house and I have to get up extra early to get some before work the next day. On those occasions I lose the plot with him I must admit.

FunTimes2020 · 12/09/2020 14:24

YAB extremely U for using the partial word, if I can call it that, ump...

knittingaddict · 12/09/2020 14:36

My thoughts, based on my generous consumption of butter and a healthy appetite:

That's enough for two rounds of sandwiches.

Who needs two rounds of sandwiches in one meal?

Margarine is rank.

Spreading lots of margarine is worse.

Hope that helps op.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 12/09/2020 15:10

worried about something else in his life?
I think the op has said what it’s really about. It’s that her mum dared to visit and help her with the house and children as she’s hurt her leg*

Yes, the "inconsiderate oaf" GrinGrinGrin

KatherineJaneway · 12/09/2020 16:22

That's enough for two rounds of sandwiches.

No it's not. Happy to help Grin

Grapewrath · 12/09/2020 16:56

He is being unreasonable to strip like a child however I think your mum was slightly unreasonable to have 2 sandwiches rather than one, given the butter situation

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 12/09/2020 17:58

Who needs two rounds of sandwiches in one meal?

Someone who works nights and might have them as their main meal?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 12/09/2020 18:01

Loving the 'Who needs 2 sandwiches' thing.
It's almost as contentious as a how many fish fingers thread we had a while back.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 12/09/2020 18:03

Leaving it for the kids to have on toast in the morning makes him less tantrumy and unreasonable too.

He was annoyed. He had a good reason to be annoyed. Sounds like he got over it. It happens.

Buttr · 12/09/2020 18:17

I told him about the poll, being light hearted, and now he's gone in a mood again

He feels ganged up on and that people (including me) are taking the piss out of him.

Jesus bloody christ.

Well what did you expect?
SoupDragon · 12/09/2020 18:21

He feels ganged up on and that people (including me) are taking the piss out of him.

He's not wrong, is he?

Buttr · 12/09/2020 18:22

Well I certainly didn't expect that.

He has zero sense of humour if anything even remotely concerns him.

I certainly wouldn't go in a mood about it.

OP posts:
Buttr · 12/09/2020 18:23

It's a light hearted poll about sandwiches and he's reacted like I've insulted his ancestors.

OP posts:
MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 12/09/2020 18:38

If he wasn't such a stroppy got, there'd be nothing for people to 'gang up' on him over. He sounds like more trouble than he's worth.

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/09/2020 19:05

Hmmm. Not sure how telling him about this post - which yes, is absolutely taking the piss out of him, saying it’s “lighthearted” doesn’t make it less bitchy - was going to do anything but inflame the situation.

You’ve been vindicated, wasn’t that enough without telling him a lot of ransoms on the internet think he’s a muppet?

Erictheavocado · 12/09/2020 19:07

I don't think he was unreasonable. If he's working an overnight shift he may not have had time to go to the shops before work. And as for the 'who needs two sandwiches for lunch' 'I only butter one slice of bread' brigade, it doesn't matter what you do - op's dh likes two sandwiches with butter. If he's working a physical job {as op states} then that sounds reasonable.
I can imagine the responses if op had cone on to say that her mil had used up the butter she needed for her sandwiches. Op would have been told to go nc , the mil would have been called several choice names by posters and her dh would also have come under fire for not being able to cope with his own children, regardless of whatever health issue had beset him.
