I'm only being light hearted. But do you ever get curious what It would be like to be with a different type of man. Not to cheat or anything. Just a curious to what's the difference.

I'm with a lovely man who works with computers. So he's not an outdoorsy man really. He likes a walk. But he isnt into sport apart from formula one. He's a really hands on dad. Does a little around the house but he's useless at keeping tidy. he happily pops anywhere to get anything and he's very caring. But he is not one of those blokes that cuts the grass regular. Gets on with painting (I always have to do it to get him to help) and he's not a drinker or one of the lads if that makes sense. He's always moaning he's tired and if he cuts the grass his backs gone for the rest of the day lol!

I have some workmen outside doing a driveway. Group of 6. They are very blokey. Smoking.(not saying this is attractive lol) working hard for 10 hours a day lifting and digging etc. I can't help but think ooo they look manly. It's just something about an outdoorsy tradesman.

Probably making myself sound a horrible person. I just sometimes wonder what it would be like to be with the more man's man man 😂

I want to make it clear I'm happy but appreciating the flexing muscles outside and the dirty white t shirts 😂😂

My dh is a tradesman and on the rare occasions We go somewhere that he has to put on a suit it does tend to make me go a bit week at the knees. I think it is the novelty factor, I would probably feel the same if he worked in an office with a suit all week and then suddenly put on some overalls 🤷‍♀️

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:07

I was literally appreciating the masculinity of it. No nastiness was intended.

I was going to say this is the Mumsnet Diet Coke advert Grin

user1493413286 · 11/09/2020 09:08

My DH is a bit like you describe and I sometimes “window shop” at men who go to work in smart suits; sometimes the opposite of what you have is interesting to think about.
Lots of offensive stereotypes on this thread though; ruined it a bit really as I’m having to restrain myself from saying much back. Some men are shit and some are great; I’ve never found that it’s dependent on their jobs.

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:08

@PenguinIce

I think you are right. I'll have to roll him around in the mud 😂 it is just curiosity lol.

Know what you mean OP. My DH is a very brainy academic. Not a practical sort though he does like football. I love the bones of him and would not have him any other way.. But I once had cause to visit a branch of Screwfix and it was full of these blokey workman type blokes!

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:11

@user1493413286

I no. My family is full of tradesman. So I know they are hard working family men. Some like beer and wild weekends. Others go home and do the garden.

A while shirt is nice on a man too. But I've always liked the dirty work clothes man. Mechanics too.

I remember when I was pregnant a red couple had a scan the same day. He was in uniform. She wasn't. The next time they were there again.she was in uniform and he wasn't. He was wearing chinos and sandals. Ruined him haha. But again ink my kidding. He looked masculine in his uniform and boots

Really?!

The PP was joking and taking the piss out of the OP's day dreaming, not tarnishing all builders as bed wetters.

I know it's early but come on

MoistMolly · 11/09/2020 09:13

@SBTLove

I’d like to think some of the replies are light hearted and not snotty misconceptions about tradesmen, going by pp they’re all piss artists, in debt and shit in bed 🙄 because I’m sure no office guy has any of these traits 🙄
The office guys have their own traits tbh. Cheap suit from Next, polyester shirt, leering over the office junior whilst snorting a line of coke...
Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:13

@SerenDippitty

Yesss lol. I'm glad you get me lol. Screwfix is a good place to find them Grin

Yes there is something so manly about a fire fighter - will always have a soft spot for them ! Not sure if it's the uniform or hero / rescuer element !

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:14

@tortillachipsanddips

I think it's both lol. The fearless hero sliding down a pole haha. Fireman Sam is as close as I get to that though.

OP posts:
ElizabethMainwaring · 11/09/2020 09:15

When I worked in a primary school we had annual visits from the fire service to talk to the kids about fire safety.
There was always lots of giddiness amongst the staffSmile

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:15

@ElizabethMainwaring

I get that too! They just look blokey don't they. The ones near me always force you to say hi and stuff. They are jolly and confident.

Oh, it was a joke was it?
I thought that it was a nasty offensive comment about working class men.

That was to @roarfeckingroarr
spacepoppers · 11/09/2020 09:22

My DH is a nerd. Plumber who recently came and ripped out my bathroom made me come over all unnecessary. There's just something so manly and attractive about it, considering mine can't change a lightbulb.
That said, my DH is a sweetheart who dotes on the children and wouldn't go within a five mile radius of a pub, so I appreciate that the grass is not always greener!

Colycola · 11/09/2020 09:23

If we are going to stereotype I’ve worked with plenty of high flying city suit wearing types and they have been utter cunts, who cheat on their wives, throw money around lap dancing clubs and shit themselves after taking too much coke. In fact I was married to one. I’m now married to a much nicer plumber.

nevermorelenore · 11/09/2020 09:24

A bit of window shopping keeps things fun. I mean, men fantasise about different types of women and certain careers - nurse, secretary etc. Why shouldn't we?

My DH is the suited, corporate type, but I've always had a soft spot for bearded, outdoorsy types. Ideally ones that chop wood.

Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:24

@spacepoppers

That's how I went when the roofers were here last year. I was washing up and looked up to Tom the roofer Knealt on the roof drilling and his muscle was flexed. I did give him a magnum because he looked hot. 😂

OP posts:
Illdealwithitinaminute · 11/09/2020 09:24

I must be hanging round the wrong building sites then, there's lots of middle-aged guys who aren't that hot. Luckily I am a middle-aged woman who isn't that hot, so its not a big issue!

ToffeePennie · 11/09/2020 09:25

You sure you’re not married to my husband? Although mine will turn his hand to DIY, it’s always after a million other projects and computer bits and any diy I do is deemed “useless because of x,y or z”. Which is usually all very valid points but annoying when he won’t do stuff! ARGH!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 11/09/2020 09:25

I agree, whilst the op would have been ripped to shreds for being a sexist pervert if they'd been a man they were indulging in fantasy. The comments that followed were offensive.
Shoregirl8 · 11/09/2020 09:25

@nevermorelenore

Love it! Exactly. Women just act more innocent. But men are always checking out women and the fact women can get so many occupation outfits for the bedroom says it all. Maybe there is a gap in the market for us. Tradesman bedroom clothes lol!!
