That this is giving me the rage

I’ve posted about this before but now the roof is on it’s really starting to annoy me. It’s going to be a fucking wood workshop along with all the noise & dust that goes with it 😡

Ie informed the council - who are hot to look into the planning permission aspect.

In the meantime has anyone any ideas how we can cover this up so it’s not a complete eyesore?

Ideally nothing planted as we got rid of grass & plants last year to give us a low maintenance garden. The sun is overhead most of the day so I don’t think it will block our light.

And the trampoline didn’t used to be there - it was there temporarily but we’ve left it there because I want to annoy them - I know I’m being petty 😜

people just like to moanSmile

DullDullWeather · 09/09/2020 12:33

Oh get over yourself OP

AriettyHomily · 09/09/2020 12:34

You're overlooked anyway, what difference does the shed make?

Your trampoline looks silly.

DidoAtTheLido · 09/09/2020 12:36

The obvious solution is to re-introduce some actual plants into your outdoor garden, trellis and trailing / climbing plants. They are hardly difficult to look after and if you pick the right ones you will get lovely scent, and support bees and birds.

And will make your garden look a lot better. Though I realise taste is subjective.

Roowig2020 · 09/09/2020 12:37

I'm this wouldn't bother me any more then the fact that you're already crammed in and overlooked.

BubblyBarbara · 09/09/2020 12:37

Seems a bit of a ridiculous thing to be annoyed about. You're only annoyed because it's something new. But you have to look at their ugly white conservatory and their entire house as well but you're not complaining about that. From what I can make out, this doesn't block your view of anything that was there before other than some other neighbour's bungalow.

Chocolate908i777 · 09/09/2020 12:37

Your trampoline is right next to the fence though... Just put up some screening plants, pots of bamboo?? Would look miles better anyway.

rwalker · 09/09/2020 12:39

trellis trailing plants really don't know how you have the nerve to complain with your trampoline though.

SunshineCocktails · 09/09/2020 12:44

Imagine getting so enraged about something like this!

Seriously OP, catch yourself on.

SlothMama · 09/09/2020 12:44

Get over yourself OP it's a shed, if it bothers you so much put a trelis up.

12309845653ghydrvj · 09/09/2020 12:44

If it doesn’t reduce your light, then I don’t see the issue? Its not like the house had a view before, it’s pretty clearly backing OJ to another. It’s not like it will mean they overlook you. I don’t think they’ve done anything wrong, but if I was them I would complain about the trampoline. It also looks like a death trap...

Get some plants, inject some life in your garden! If someone complained about having to look at my shed, because they wanted to stare all day at their blank fence, frankly I would think they’re a bit out there.

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 09/09/2020 12:51

Unless there's a background between the two of you this seems a massive overreaction.

It's hardly impacting on whatever joy you currently get from your plant-free fake grass oasis.

DDiva · 09/09/2020 12:51

The noise could be annoying but at the moment it is just potential noise, you dont actually know itll be noisy.

The shed is only a foot or so higher than your fence and wont really impact you, that is petty.

NYMM · 09/09/2020 12:55

Good grief! MN'ers can be quite brutal Hmm

The shed most likely has permitted development but until/if the woodworking becomes a nuisance it's unlikely the Planning dept or Building control would be interested.

As has been suggested, put some trellis along the top of your fence

As for the trampoline...It's moveable, can be dismantled or even used to sit or lay on. It's not for others to tell you how you should use it. Ignore.

BonnieMcflurry · 09/09/2020 12:57

Sorry but that not as bad compared to my dick of neighbour

justlliloleme · 09/09/2020 12:58

@Bunglemom

Cant you put the fence on some boards at the bottom then trellis it off at the top and put plants etc?
Good idea bungle 👍🏻

There are regulations regarding using a shed as a workshop to run a business.

BonnieMcflurry · 09/09/2020 13:02

He had no planning permission
But still waiting for council come round and check it
He removed our fence without our permission
And he just overall prick

I think in the competition to see who can who whom the most they win, not only will you be annoyed by their shed, you will also be annoyed by your own trampoline. They wont be able to see your trampoline and they wont be able to hear it over the sound of their woodwork. Own goal OP!

That's a thought, you could complete your garden look with some broken goalposts!

justlliloleme · 09/09/2020 13:04

Great responses thanks folks.

Surprised that so many people wouldn’t be bothered with a workshop (not a shed) being put up 3 metres from their back door!
But as you’ve all said each to their own.

I know I’m going to live with it unless the council say that turning over half his garden into a workshop isn’t allowed. So was after some ideas of how to cover it.

I knew people would mention the trampoline & as I said it wasn’t always there, just been moved there since this was being built.

@Winederlust

What's the issue? It's not blocking your view of anything in particular, it's not blocking the sun, and surely the dust will be mostly contained inside? I couldn't get worked up about a bit of sawing and hammering, especially if I have kids trampolining that would probably make just as much noise!
And you know this how? I wouldn’t be moaning if it wasn’t blocking a view!
OP posts:
justlliloleme · 09/09/2020 13:07

@JudgeRindersMinder

Ask them if you can paint the back of it the same colour as your fences and it’ll just disappear
Good idea 👍🏻
You can buy really lovely willow hurdles and screens that would block the view of the shed out - you would probably have to attach them to the fence and stack two together to get height and stability though. Something like this www.primrose.co.uk/willow-hurdles-fencing-panel-182m-09m-6ft-3ft-papillon-p-1731.html
These are great - thank you 😘

Oh I built similar, a garden room. It’s a spa though.
It’s much bigger than that
Unless you live in a conservation area It’s completely allowed unless it’s over a certain height, which it doesn’t look like it is.
Our home is a bit bigger and further away from the other homes though.
Moaning at the council is just brattish. You clearly have an unsafe trampoline which children will bounce up and down on peeking over your neighbours fence
That’s also loud and annoying

justlliloleme · 09/09/2020 13:11

@Cheeseandlobster

Your trampoline looks right into their conservatory which is worse than a shed. And you will need to live next to these people for however long you are both there - why are you being so petty? I can't believe you called the council over this - ridiculous!
The conservatory has been full of crap for 3 years while he’s been sawing, drilling & making stuff out of wood in his garden - this is why I’m worried about the noise & dust. As I said trampoline hasn’t always been there.
