Or is this an unusual bra size?

Just put my measurements into boob or bust and it came back with 32G. Is it just me or is that an unusual size. Didn't think my boobs were that big. I currently wear a 34 or 36 D or DD depending on progress or pregnancy/breastfeeding/weight loss/gain.
Where would I even buy 32G. I'm a skint student so can't be spending ££ on 1 bra!

Next have amazing selection of bras
Plus you can order 50 and keep 2 (like I did lol)
The do Freya, pour moi, fig leaves etc

I went from a 34DD to 32F and my boobs look so much better n clothes

LakieLady · 08/09/2020 07:36

@itwaseverthus, I like moulded cups because they conceal the fact that in the slightest breeze my nipples stick out like chapel hat pegs!

Anyone know where to get 30C bras cheaply? The supermarkets seem to only start at larger back sizes.
Asda sell 30c bras.
LakieLady · 08/09/2020 07:44

George at Asda to a great range of bras in larger cup sizes at very reasonable prices

I tried an Asda bra, but it had very thin straps and really cut into my shoulders.

If only they'd make them with wider, softer straps they'd be great. My 36G/GGs must weigh a bit - I need to spread the load to stop the straps digging in!

When did this 'new' way of sizing come in? I saw new but I know I always must have been doing this anyway unknowingly. Because I don't think people have always been doing this have they?
I'm in my mid 40s and have been wearing a bra since the late 1980s and this way of measuring was already being used at that stage, so it's definitely not new.

When did underwired bras become popular? It maybe coincides with that. My mum is almost 90 and when I asked her she reckoned that adding inches had stopped in about the 1960s! She said that in the 40s when she first started wearing bras they just came in 34, 36, 38 etc based on your overbust measurement and cup sizes came later.

Asda sell 30c bras. In store only? I couldn't find any on the website. direct.asda.com/george/women/lingerie/bras/D1M18G2C1,default,sc.html
No 28D either. I'm in a M&S 30C and someone said they run small.

I've bought them for my daughter several times in that size, both in store and online.

Maybe they have stopped doing that size or they are out of stock or something. Sorry to get your hopes up!

Until 6 weeks ago I was a 34jj and had 3 bras that I rotated because they cost so much!

Now I’m a 34d (ish, until swelling goes down completely) and I have about 12 bras and not an underwire in sight 🥰

Proper fitting 34jj bras were a bitch to find though.

monkey1978 · 08/09/2020 09:29

I have just done exactly the same thing and had the same measurement! I got one online from Boux avenue cos I couldnt find that size anywhere in the shops!
Suprisingly it fits well as I thought no way I would be that size.

purpleme12 · 08/09/2020 10:10

@tearinyourhand even though i know it's not new as i've always been wearing the right size as i've always been fitted at bravissimo, i'm sure that not so long ago there was less people who knew about this on here for example and that not so long ago less people ascribed to this sizing

sanityisamyth · 08/09/2020 10:37

@Seeline

I get mine at M&S too. Don't get measured there though.

I just try on a range until I find one that fits. Generally need to add 4" to your measured back size and start from there. Bravissimo have a really helpful guide to fitting on their website.

No you DON'T add 4" on. That's where the problems start! The band size is the actual measurement around the rib cage. Why would you add more length to this? It is what it is!

AngryAF · 08/09/2020 10:38

I've seen plenty in that size. I'm a 40B now that is hard to find

sanityisamyth · 08/09/2020 10:41

@Feminist10101

G should be a doddle. Try being a J!

Amen!

Seeline · 08/09/2020 10:59

@sanityisamyth

As I've explained before - I know that you shouldn't add 4", BUT M&S do, so if you are buying from there, you need to add 4" to your correct size before you start trying out different styles. Both DD and I buy perfectly good bras there, but they are always 4" bigger than bras we buy anywhere else.

tearinyourhand · 08/09/2020 11:13

My M&S bras are the same size around the band as all my other bras, I've never found them to be four inches shorter.

Surely 30" is 30". Why would they make them 26" and market them at 30". Just makes literally no sense.

MulticolourMophead · 08/09/2020 11:29

In addition, when trying on a new bra, always try the band first. Put it on back to front. It if does up on the looses hook then great. If you then turn it round and put it on properly and then the band feels too small, it usually means that the cup is too small rather than the band. Don't forget to swoop and scoop!

My mum taught me this, and I passed it on to DD. No way is she going to have issues like I did, until I started using the right measurement method.

And people should remember, the measurement is just a starting point, regardless of what assistants might insist on.

Again, this really, really isn't correct! Their bras are not made differently from other brands. Have you measured the stretched band on an M&S bra? If it's a 32" then when stretched it should measure 32" If it doesn't then that's a quality control issue!

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 08/09/2020 11:39

It’s not just finding the right size as different makes do differ it’s finding the right shape bra

I’ve never found a bra in M&S that fits me well unless a half cup as the shape is wrong. I’m not sure if they use just one manufacturer who make all their bras but the shape of the cup is wrong

Like Triumph bras never fit me correctly

Aridane · 08/09/2020 11:42

Are bra fittings still being done in person?

CorianderLord · 08/09/2020 11:53

I'm a 28DD 🤷‍♀️ depends on if you're slim with big nungas

woodhill · 08/09/2020 11:54

Triumph were great - amourette but why no 30 back

They’re companion sizes. Cups will be the same volume.
