Or is this an unusual bra size?

Just put my measurements into boob or bust and it came back with 32G. Is it just me or is that an unusual size. Didn't think my boobs were that big. I currently wear a 34 or 36 D or DD depending on progress or pregnancy/breastfeeding/weight loss/gain.
Where would I even buy 32G. I'm a skint student so can't be spending ££ on 1 bra!

The ‘old’ way of measuring tended to give a larger back size and smaller cup. Measured properly many women are shocked to be a much smaller back and bigger cup! :) I’m in a 32F which sounds like I should resemble Dolly Parton out front, but I really don’t! :)

atgnat · 07/09/2020 19:02

I did it the other week and got 34G (normally 38C) and the bras I ordered as a result of it came today. The band is way too small and the cups are so big they offer no support. I think I must've gone wrong somewhere, though, because everyone seems to swear by BOB.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 07/09/2020 19:14

I don't think it's unusual at all! I've been a 30ff for decades and they've never felt massive - and i have a smallish frame, so would expect them to seem proportionally larger?

Type of bra makes a huge difference though - if i wear a plunge/push up type then there is a lot of cleavage going on, which probably makes them seem much more prominent. I always preferred balcony types but these days mostly wear soft, gym bra type things as they're so comfy - and my boobs don't look big at all.

A problem I used to have - when i cared about pretty undies - was that anything in a double f cup seemed to be more engineered, with really thick straps and extra thick wires etc for support. But i never needed or wanted that because my boobs aren't actually that big at all and all the wires and thickness wasn't pretty - I used to envious of the delicate B and C bras. Past caring now!

whiteroseredrose · 07/09/2020 19:15

I've also had problems with Bravissimo bras. Twice I succumbed - 7 years apart - and both times the bras were unbearably uncomfortable.

I had to pull into the services on the way home to get the blooming thing off. Huge red welts at my sides.

So I wear a comfy M&S 40C non wired and am happy.

purpleme12 · 07/09/2020 19:19

I love my big boobs to be honest
It's the one thing I've got going for me

I think one reason that people often get disappointed when trying bras in their BOB size, is that they order moulded/plunge/padded styles like the Freya Deco. These bras don't really work for many people as you have the have the same shape breast as the cup! Shape and style are almost as important as size and a lot depends on how projected/shallow, narrow/wide you are. The sub/reddit A Bra That Fits has loads of info on this.

In addition, when trying on a new bra, always try the band first. Put it on back to front. It if does up on the looses hook then great. If you then turn it round and put it on properly and then the band feels too small, it usually means that the cup is too small rather than the band. Don't forget to swoop and scoop!

SarahBellam · 07/09/2020 19:59

George at Asda to a great range of bras in larger cup sizes at very reasonable prices.

slashlover · 07/09/2020 20:33

I lost weight and went down to a 32G, put a load back on and am currently a 34KK/34L depending on the make and style. I always get the exact same one now, luckily they do it in different colours/patterns.

HerNameWasEliza · 07/09/2020 21:09

I agree with you @itwaseverthus. I'm a 32G and am amazed by the variety of bras in my size with padding. I don't need any extra thanks!

I want the padding! Not to make me look bigger but otherwise they're too flimsy to offer any structure and real support.

I try and find moulded cups, rather than padded. Then you have a nice smooth shape with support but they're not under your chin!
NotMeNoNo · 07/09/2020 21:21

That's my size. Best is to order one bra and try it. I only have 3 in my size as they are so expensive but look out for them in ebay or online. My current bra of choice is Fantasie Fusion which is super comfortable.

Sideorderofchips · 07/09/2020 21:27

I'm a 36ff.nigjtmare to find but fit perfectly

DalzielandPaxo · 07/09/2020 21:34

Boob or Bust announced me as a 26H. That’s an unusual size...

hellokitty67 · 07/09/2020 21:35

It's my bra size! Bravissimo or M&S

MyHomeIsMyHappyPlace · 07/09/2020 21:37

I'm a 30FF/G and finding bras below £30 is hard - definitely recommend Bravissimo though and Figleaves have a sale on at the moment, have a look!

CuppaZa · 07/09/2020 21:52

No it’s not unusual.
It’s a pain finding bras though. I’m a 30ff and have to spend a fortune finding bras.
It’s about time other shops caught on to the range in sizes ime

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 07/09/2020 21:54

I’m a 32gg (when less fat on my body 30)

I would recommend you look at websites that specialise in bras for bigger boobs Like others have recommended

Don’t waste money on cheap bras you need the right support and once you have found the make and bra shape that is right for you Stick to it

I have always return to Freya the cheapest bras I buy are around £20 in the sale but so worth it

And agree ignore M&S I was a 28f and they insisted I was a 34c 🙄

BaylisAndHardon · 07/09/2020 21:57

Try eBay OP. When I was a student I got nice bras from there - 34G- for around £5-10

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 07/09/2020 21:57

When I first developed I was in a 28dd then e soon after f cup

The bras were awful so ugly like my grannies bras. Thankfully there is far more choice now and some very pretty bras in large cup small back sizes

26h that is an awkward size to get

If you are in south London there is a great bra shop in Forest Hill the owner always gets the right bra for you

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 07/09/2020 21:58

I measure a 30FF at Bravissimo, but I feel like I'm being slowly gripped to death in them and the underwires dig into the bone in the middle of my ribs. The assistants always insist that is the right size. Consequently I no longer shop at Bravissimo, and I wear lovely comfy bras that allegedly have too big back bands.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 07/09/2020 23:58

tk Maxx are always worth a look, they frequently have good brands like Triumph at very discounted prices, especially in less common sizes. I bought one this week for £6 that had originally been £40ish.

Embarrassingly I came on holiday & forgot to pack any bras. Bought my normal size & didn't anywhere near fit - had to go up TWO sizes and a cup size. V tedious when you can't try on in store. The diet restarts the moment I get home.

GoldenPlover · 08/09/2020 00:04

I was also shocked after doing my bob measurements! I'd been wearing 36D for a long time but I was finding they were actually digging in quite a bit so was wondering if I'd have to go up to a 38. Did the BOB measurement and it said I wa a 34HH! I was shocked as a HH sounds massive and I dont feel like my boobs are particularly big at all! I also think of myself as being very fat so was surprised I was a 34.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 08/09/2020 00:29

@ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN - thanks for the recommendation - I'll book an appointment when I'm back to a more normal size.

Anyone know where to get 30C bras cheaply? The supermarkets seem to only start at larger back sizes.

PumpkinsAndBroomsticks · 08/09/2020 07:12

It isn't unusual, and a lot more women would be around this size is if they wore the correct size for them. Problem is many women just guess their size and stick with it - they assume anything below a 34 back is for stick thin women and that isn't true at all. They think anything over a C cup means you have huge melon breasts, again, not true.
