Or is this an unusual bra size?

Just put my measurements into boob or bust and it came back with 32G. Is it just me or is that an unusual size. Didn't think my boobs were that big. I currently wear a 34 or 36 D or DD depending on progress or pregnancy/breastfeeding/weight loss/gain.
Where would I even buy 32G. I'm a skint student so can't be spending ££ on 1 bra!

You will only find 32G at Debenhams (if you're lucky) or online at somewhere like Bravissimo, brastop etc.
I was a 32G, now a 26/28 E! Even harder to find a narrow back.
I see so many people wearing the wrong sizes. Many people have a too wide back and too small cup to compensate for it.

inappropriateraspberry · 07/09/2020 12:23

You won't find much at the supermarket I'm afraid.

123rd · 07/09/2020 12:23

That's my size! Debenhams is the best place for me, always sales on
Never ever have I been able to buy a bra from primark, or the like. Maybe Asda?

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 07/09/2020 12:28

I was measured a 32GG at M&S a while ago. Hadn't been measured in ages, was mortified I'd been wearing 36CBlush. Buy all mine in Marks, that size now fits beautifully, v comfy although did feel tight around ribs at first. Also clothes are much more flattering now I'm wearing the right size!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 07/09/2020 12:28

I am a 30HH. Sometimes I buy a 32GG instead. I have never, ever, found one in a supermarket. Debenhams, Brastop and Figleaves. M&S are crap. My latest one was about a tenner in Figleaves' sale. Bargains are out there - you'll find a lot more in the FF/G/GG arena than I do in the Hs!

unimaginativeusernamehere · 07/09/2020 12:28

Perfectly normal size. I'm usually a 32GG but am currently heavily pregnant so am more like 34H just now

Unicornflakegirl · 07/09/2020 12:29

@purpleme12

I'm a 28h and I shop at bravissimo. I think if you'd have told them they'd have sorted you out with another bra free because they fitted you
I don't live in the UK, bought them on a trip to London and stupidly bought 3 bras as there's no way I'd get them in Spain and Bravissimo had been so recommended. I now buy online, mostly Debenhams 'Gorgeous' range in a 32 band which is tight and does leave a mark but not for hours after taking it off!

G should be a doddle. Try being a J!

BarbaraofSeville · 07/09/2020 12:40

All those of you saying you can get 32G and the likes in the supermarket, is this a recent thing?

Because I'm a 32F and admittedly haven't bought bras from anywhere except Bravissimo in years because everywhere else on the high street is a total waste of time and don't have anything in a 32 above an E cup.

But to answer your question OP, no 32G is not an unusual size, it's just that except for the enlightened few, manufacturers don't make bras for average sized women and many people have a completely outdated and skewed idea of what any particular bra size actually looks like - see the endless stories about slim and only slightly busty celebs having 34D or 36DD bra sizes when in reality they're probably more like 28 or 30G-K.

I'm a 32F and I'm a medium sized woman with medium sized breast and I should be able to have my pick of endless bras in any shop, but no, I have to go to a specialist. Hmm.

But on the matter of cost, it really is something that is worth spending extra on and it absolutely is better to have 2 decent bras from Bravissimo than half a dozen badly fitting ones from supermarkets etc.

The buying experience is so much nicer too. Instead of taking a load of bras in, finding none fit and then having to get dressed and go find some more, you just sit there in a dressing gown and the fitter goes and picks a load which experience tells her will fit you properly and as if by magic they do (even if the size is the same, different styles don't always suit all bodies and not all 32Gs are exactly the same size).

Ask for vouchers for your birthday and Christmas etc, or buy one bra from Bravissimo and then look for more in the same size and style from online sales etc.

woodhill · 07/09/2020 12:48

Yes Bravissimo is good then you can always buy duplicates on eBay

I find M&S back sizes come up small so end up in 32 with them and I don't want padding

What size clothing do you wear

BessMarvin · 07/09/2020 13:01

Also I found it worth trying a few different brands as they seem to vary a bit in apparently the same size.

MrsMattMurdock · 07/09/2020 13:08

Similar sizing history to you....i look slimmer and clothes fit better now, the difference to my reflection was really noticeable.

purpleme12 · 07/09/2020 13:09

Yes it definitely makes your figure better
Another reason why I don't know why people don't get fitted properly!

Lilyargin · 07/09/2020 13:12

Try Brastop.

itwaseverthus · 07/09/2020 13:13

I don't think it's an unusual size. I'm a 28 FF which can be a nightmare to buy for. Also so sick of the amount of large cup bras that are either padded or moulded. Why on earth would an already ample cup need either of these things? I know the moulding is for shape but what's wrong with regular breast shape?

peachypetite · 07/09/2020 13:14

DEBenhams do a good dd+ range

bobisbored · 07/09/2020 13:14

I'm a 32ff. I get mine from Bravissimo, expensive but trust me, it's worth it. Bra stop are good and a bit cheaper too.

ChessieFL · 07/09/2020 13:16

You also need to try different styles to find out what works for you, as it’s not just your size but the shape of your breasts and the way they ‘fall’. For years I kept finding bras uncomfortable until i twigged that due to the shape of my breasts I can’t wear anything that comes too high up the middle. I now stick to plunge styles and they’re much more comfortable! So those of you saying you find a particular size uncomfortable you should try different styles to see if it’s the style that doesn’t suit you rather than the size.

DaffodilsAndDandelions · 07/09/2020 13:22

I wear a clothes size 12/14 if vest or short sleeve top. 16 sometimes in jackets. I have broad shoulders from years of manual labour so most clothes seem to hang a bit strange as I have quite a narrow waist in comparison.
My current bra just seems to flatten my boobs rather than supporting them

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/09/2020 13:23

Not at all. I'm a 30g.

Cups are likely to be too small then.
thirstyformore · 07/09/2020 13:26

I recently did boob or bust. I usually wear 36C. Size 12. Measured 32G in BoB!! Bought a load of cheap 32Fs and Gs from Asda (online). Didn't fit perfectly but not far off. Reckon I'm probably a 32E/F depending on bra. Sending the cheap asda ones back but have ordered a load to try from brastop. All around the £20 mark.

Elephantday82 · 07/09/2020 13:29

I’m a 35ff. I like non wired and mostly get them from M&S, I won’t let them measure me though!

Bonprix do bigger bras at a reasonable price. Also the bras I like in M&S I have found brand new and half the price on eBay.

badg3r · 07/09/2020 13:33

It's a pretty normal size. It's probably just a 36E with the right back size to be honest! m&s have never done good fittings in my experience, John Lewis are better and bravissimo are best. I only ever have two or three bras on the go at once, I get them from bravissimo so even though pricey, it works out at around £5 a month for bras that fit really well. It makes such a difference.

DieSchottin93 · 07/09/2020 13:34

36D is for an overbust of 40in
36DD is for an overbust of 41in
32G is for an overbust of 41in

So basically the same size but more room in the cups for your boobs and a firmer band meaning more support Smile it sounds like a startling difference at first but when you look at it that way it's really not. A 32G should be reasonably easy to get hold of. I'm a 28F and mostly stick to buying online because only Bravissimo and sometimes Boux Avenue stock my size.
