Fully expecting a closure towards the end of autumn but really, really hoping that restaurants and pubs are shut first and that schools are a last resort...

Bocadilla · 06/09/2020 22:47

Nope

pushkinsinsanity · 06/09/2020 22:47

Yes.

MarshaBradyo · 06/09/2020 22:48

No not across the country
But individual schools / bubbles will, and are already

JalapenoDave · 06/09/2020 22:48

I sincerely hope not. The wild animals - sorry, children - on my street have been an absolute pain in the arse, getting progressively noisier and louder as the weeks went on. I don't want schools to close ever again. If they do, I'm stabbing my eardrums.

CoRhona · 06/09/2020 22:48

Yes - three near me (SE England, one primary, two secondary) all reporting cases.

stayathomer · 06/09/2020 22:49

Same here, was worried about them going in but now I'm just crossing everything that they only close as a last resort. Sadly i honestly believe the only reason they will shut is high numbers in children, which would be so horrible as the rationale behind them going back was they were less likely to get it/be affected/spread. Sigh.

NailsNeedDoing · 06/09/2020 22:49

A few will for a couple of weeks, but on the whole I think they’ll stay open.

Sparklesocks · 06/09/2020 22:50

I honestly don’t know. I think the government would want to avoid a full lockdown again (I don’t think they’d have the cash/be willing to furlough people or pay self employment grants again) and they’ve really pushed the schools reopening. But if cases are shooting up...

SimonJT · 06/09/2020 22:50

Individual schools yes, nationwide very unlikely, but of course I could be proved completely wrong.

BillywilliamV · 06/09/2020 22:51

3,000 cases, 2 deaths. I sincerely hope not!

louise4745 · 06/09/2020 22:51

I don't watch the news. Are the cases slowing?

This

Racoonworld · 06/09/2020 22:52

Yes, cases will spread round schools so easily without social distancing. Lots closed already and only been open a week. Parents holding parties and play dates are ask not helping the situation, those doing this shouldn’t kian if schools have to close as they are part of the problem!

Racoonworld · 06/09/2020 22:52

Shouldn’t moan*

louise4745 · 06/09/2020 22:53

I have major anxiety issues and I hate change. I usually always have to know what's going on. Just a waiting game then.

OP posts:
GetThatHelmetOn · 06/09/2020 22:53

Yes, for a few weeks at a time.

louise4745 · 06/09/2020 22:54

My kids are in bubbles of 90. 3 classes per year group.

OP posts:
Iggly · 06/09/2020 22:54

Yes. As winter approaches, the NHS will struggle again. That was the original reason for lockdown - to help manage the demand in the NHS.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/09/2020 22:56

Individual areas, yes. Not nationally though.

Would be awful if they closed all of London schools. Sad - so many of them

MarshaBradyo · 06/09/2020 22:57

Cases are low in most London boroughs aren’t they?

YewHedge · 06/09/2020 22:58

Yes.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 06/09/2020 22:59

I think it will be individual areas and not nationally too.

Rosebel · 06/09/2020 22:59

Yes, or at least I think my daughter's school will. They are in a bubble of 180 each so massive chance of it spreading like wildfire.
I am going to miss them so much tomorrow (despite moaning about them being at home) and be constantly worried but I'm hoping they stay open for the sake of their education.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 06/09/2020 23:00

I think they should be careful to manage it during the autumn and not create a really massive surge going into winter/ Christmas when the nhs can be overloaded anyway.
