With social media it's allowed amazing ways to communicate with people. But it's also allowed trolling and harrasment to happen at unprecedented scale.

Sites like tattle life and increasing Mumsnet allow people to troll women that make their living out of social media and the current rules in place don't allow the police to identify and bring to justice the trolls. You can pretty much say what you like including bullying someone over their appearance and their parenting with zero repreciousons. It's not on and needs to change.

I could go on but aibu to think these rules need to change? People are taking their own lives and the government did not approve my petition to afford people on social media greater human rights protection.

One of the worst instmums is Mrs Meldrum. Lies and schemes all day long and cries troll at any hint of criticism...pretty sure she's been on this thread with all the talk of the police tracking IP addresses for her daily 😂

Parentinglark · 07/09/2020 16:24

This thread is clearly about susie as you named her outright and you are her friend who has made this whole thread on her behalf. You cannot start a moral crusade whilst being disingenuous yourself- not being true about your intentions and motivations. Also I really hope this is not a big publicity stunt for Susie and her business as that is just immoral.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 07/09/2020 16:29

And why is Susie seeking out these messages anyway why go out of your way to seek criticisms if you cant handle it?

My understanding is that followers were screenshotting negative posts and sending them to her. Who need enemies, eh!

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/09/2020 16:36

Madness.

annabel85 · 07/09/2020 17:51

All publicity is good publicity as they say. This sounds like it's been manufactured for free publicity and more hits on the 'gram and shitbook.

julybaby32 · 07/09/2020 18:07

I'd just like to tell you that the title to this thread alone has made me feel worthless and increases the frequency of my obsessive thoughts that I should kill myself because I don't have kids. I'm not a suicide risk in the next 6 years since I would still have family babysitting duties to perform (so don't feel obliged to take any action, mumsnet or anyone else. I haven't got and instagram account or face book or anything like that, because quite honestly who would want to see my revolting ugly face, but I wanted you to know OP that by choosing the word "mums" instead of people you have made me and probably a number of other people feel suicidal. But as long as no women with kids feel bad, I expect you don't care. I know you back-tracked a bit in later posts, but it seems to be a surprise to you that people existed with feelings who weren't mothers.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 07/09/2020 18:12

Exactly. Her marketing advisors claim to gain is being booted off ITV for serving brew dog from a dead animal 10 years ago. Think she's got quite a shit stirrer and fake it till you make it attitude.

All this will no doubt be content for another daily mail article about how Susie beat the bullies and launched her own chat platform 🙄

Well if your only response to your customers complaints is to delete their comments from SM and fail to take on board criticism about the quality, price and description of the services you provide then don't be surprised if they find other ways to communicate with you...

In the same vein don't be "hurt" if they use other forums for discussing their negative experiences.

In short, if you're operating a business with paying customers then it being an online/influencer model doesn't mean you get a free pass from behaving like a proper business - which includes having a proper complaints procedure that includes a process of investigation, review, action and response.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 07/09/2020 19:02

@DeRigueurMortis don't be surprised if they find other ways to communicate with you...

I think it was actually “supportive” followers sending screenshots, not critics!

DeRigueurMortis · 07/09/2020 19:04

Well that's unhinged!!!

Parentinglark · 07/09/2020 19:16

Exactly why go out of your way to ignore and brush off customer complaints but then seek out online discussions about yourself? Ridiculous.

& if people have sent her screenshots thats out of order too and she should come out and request this stop. But its almost like she courting criticism & comments now.

Parentinglark · 07/09/2020 19:22

I also believe this OP has let slip on MN & tattle that susie has been reading these sites too.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 07/09/2020 20:12

This has put me off SBS even further. I was disappointed before, now I feel like a mug.

AlternativePerspective · 07/09/2020 20:20

Who is Susie?

And what in the name of God is an instamum?

Seriously anyone who has the time or inclination not only to follow these nobodies on social media and lap up their every word but to read the comments from other nobodies directed towards said nobody needs to get a life.

Sarahbarney · 07/09/2020 20:32

So this has basically been confirmed as a PR stunt for this company then. What a strange company this sounds! Whoever is running your marketing needs sacking as this is woeful.

Have you just read some comments from other nobodies, directed to the nobody in question? If so, hi! So glad you had the time to pop by and contribute. Grin

To answer your original question: Susie is Styled by Susie.

Seriously, anyone who has the time and inclination to come onto a thread and state that they have no idea what anyone is talking about could also do with getting a life. Never, ever understood that. Not only do you not know what anyone is talking about, you also take the time to come on and tell us about it.

You're so superior to everyone else on here 😍

Quite
Bekindnotabully · 08/09/2020 07:23

Susie has no knowledge that I'm posting here and her new venture is going very well with over 700 paid subs in a few days. She doesn't need pr just an end to the hate.

I will never post again.

Thanks to the 5% of people with a heart. I had the most beautiful pm conversation with someone here and I ended up giving them an exclusive discount code for a well known shop. This is what happens when you're nice, you attract good things.

Not only do you not know what anyone is talking about, you also take the time to come on and tell us about it. well, given it was in AIBU, and had a 95% YABU vote, I think it’s fair to say that most people either don’t know, or don’t care about whatever has been said about this Susie, and as I’m not the only one who has said they have no idea who she is, it was likely to be a thread which was more entertaining than serious.

Ultimately if people parade their lives all over social media then it stands to reason that not everyone is going to like them, sometimes this might just be because people can be cruel but sometimes it will be for valid reasons.

If someone is really getting that much abuse on social media then perhaps it’s time to step back as we do have freedom of speech in this country, and nobody is entitled to shut down the comments of others purely because they’re a mum.

Plenty of people have abused prince harry here, Peter Andre for being a father, various other celebrities for all manner of reasons, and nobody seems to think they should be charged with a criminal offence over it...

DizzyPigeon · 08/09/2020 07:40

Oooh an exclusive discount code. For a shop I probably don't use. Yay!

(for more exclusive discount codes, try hotukdeals or moneysavingexpert, you'll find more than one discount code there)

Tbh I'm surprised this thread is still here, when it's so clearly a poor attempt at promotion.

Parentinglark · 08/09/2020 07:49

I think you need to have a conversation with your friend Susie about what you have written here as whether you intended to or not you have dragged her & her business into a misleading and poorly thought out campaign. She should be aware of the potential damage you have done. I would be distraught if a friend of mine had dragged my business into a rambling on MN and conducted themselves the way you have done here
