AIBU to have attended a meeting with fuck, fucking, fuckers, etc? I know we need to let off steam though.

Goingtogetflamed · 05/09/2020 19:27

Well YANBU to have attended.....

AverageNSad · 05/09/2020 19:28

Sorry are you asking if it’s ok to swear or were you in company who were swearing? I guess it depends on your company.

I love to swear but only do it if certain of my audience, as I would hate to offend!

Merryoldgoat · 05/09/2020 19:30

Depends on a million things.

I told my boss to fuck off the other day. He laughed.

tappbar · 05/09/2020 19:31

Sorry didn’t phrase that well ... AIBU to think it’s not appropriate or am I being a bit uptight?

OP posts:
AverageNSad · 05/09/2020 19:33

Have you just met them or known them a long time?

yelyah22 · 05/09/2020 19:34

Would be fine where I work, and with probably 60% of our clients. Really depends on your working atmosphere.

CoRhona · 05/09/2020 19:36

I love a bit of swearing. Makes me relax around people.

So YAFBU Grin

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 05/09/2020 19:36

It depends on your office environment, I used to work in the private sector in a kind of corporate sales type role and in some smaller companies this was fine and usual in team meetings. I now work in the public sector and have for a long while it's absolutely not ok, and people would get fired. If it's a planning meeting with just me and my direct counterpart we swear, but we've known each other a very long time and get on very well personally/socially and are both a bit sweary outside of work, if anyone else is present absolutely not.

CMOTDibbler · 05/09/2020 19:36

Not at all acceptable imo

Merryoldgoat · 05/09/2020 19:37

I swear a lot but I know my audience. I don’t swear during committees or with the CEO. My boss is COO and we both swear like sailors.

RedPanda17 · 05/09/2020 19:38

Totally depends on the environment, I swear all day at work, NHS office. We're all sweary Mary's

Aridane · 05/09/2020 19:40

Wouldn’t fly where I work

TinySongstress · 05/09/2020 19:41

I work in engineering. Fuck, fucking, fuck this, fuck that, fuck it, fuck you and fuck's sake tend to start or finish all sentences, statements and questions, especially in meetings.
We're successful, intelligent and productive. Fucking liberty.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 05/09/2020 19:41

Well I guess it depends on whether the fuckers really fucked the fuck up?

AriettyHomily · 05/09/2020 19:43

There is a lot of swearing where I work, a lot a lot a lot.

BubblyBarbara · 05/09/2020 19:43

I swear all day at work, NHS office

What about “old maggot legs”?

burnoutbabe · 05/09/2020 19:45

Nope, not in meetings.
Maybe in informal planning stuff /brain storming groups but not in more normal meetings.
And we do swear at work (at pc mostly!)
Especially now when we are all online and who knows if they have kids in earshot of the pc!

QuacksInTheDark · 05/09/2020 19:48

Fuck, Fucking and Fuckers Ltd sounds like a stand up company.

whydontkidscomewithauserguide · 05/09/2020 19:49

Totally depends on the situation and your relationship with the attendees. I’ve thrown in a fucking hell when particularly exacerbated talking to my close circle at work but wouldn’t in a meeting with others?

RedPanda17 · 05/09/2020 19:50

I didn't know maggot was a swear word
UnfinishedSymphon · 05/09/2020 19:53

Pretty normal here, I work in construction and the fuckers fucking swear like fuck about every fucking little thing. Fucking fuckers. Our meetings are very fucking entertaining

ZoeTurtle · 05/09/2020 19:54

It's your own fault for not bringing smelling salts. Can you loosen your corset a little to avoid a swoon?

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 05/09/2020 19:58

😂😂😂 NHS lost my respect a long time ago!
MulticolourMophead · 05/09/2020 20:00

I don't swear at work. Right now, though, I'm wfh, but I do make sure I don't swear on Zoom/Teams calls. So long as my colleagues can't hear me, I swear if I want to.

june2007 · 05/09/2020 20:02

No I have never been in a meating where this is exceptable and I wouldn,t feal comfortable in one where it was.
