Anxiously waiting for a important call...

Had an interview Wednesday for my dream job, was told i would get a call today telling me if i was successful. What time do you think they will call before? The wait is killing me... i thought they would call first thing and put us out our misery. Was 7 people interviewed for the role. Do you think they would call the successful or unsuccessful candidates first?

Aw I'm ever so excited for you. I have only twice interviewed for a job, the first time it required security clearance so took about 6 weeks to even hear if I was preliminarily successful!!

The job I applied for last year was at a company I had wanted to work for for years. They called me back the same day to say I'd got it; it actually felt like they'd just waited long enough to be sure I'd be home

Good luck op! I also think they should make these calls as early as possible once they have a decision. Hope you find out soon and that you get the job .

It could be someone else has it but has asked for more cash and they need it signed off. I had a candidate do this once and it meant the rest had to wait ages to hear which was pretty crappy all round- no one likes making those calls

3.33 but I used to call around 4 30 5 it depends what job role and how busy I have been i have been called 10pm before haha

I feel your pain op. Was waiting for an important call on Wednesday. In the morning about 5 different family members called me about random stuff, wanted to tell them all to piss off&stop calling 😂. I couldn't take the stress each time the phone rang!
Anyway in the end when I had given up hope the call came at 6pm just as I was eating dinner.

I say they don’t call today - sorry

I have just applied for something and I wont know 1st sift until end Sept then if I get that far actual Y/N till end Oct. It involves a new career / house move / Schools too. Ooof.

Imagine what it was like for us years ago.

No cell or cordless phones, no call waiting, no voicemail, no internet. You literally were sat by a landline hoping no one called you so your prospective employer didn't get a busy signal and 'move on to the next one'. Fear of going to the loo and not being able to make it back to the phone in time to pick up.

I think, though, that it may have been more common back then to find out you had the job (or not) at the interview. I was told during mine and I recall most of my friends calling me and saying "I got/didn't get the job" the same day.

I also remember 'papering the town' with resumés, too. I don't think people do that anymore. I suggested it to one of my sons and he snickered at me and said "It doesn't work like that anymore".
