Anxiously waiting for a important call...

Had an interview Wednesday for my dream job, was told i would get a call today telling me if i was successful. What time do you think they will call before? The wait is killing me... i thought they would call first thing and put us out our misery. Was 7 people interviewed for the role. Do you think they would call the successful or unsuccessful candidates first?

Congrats on the new job @anxywait. I remember waiting for the call about my current job. They never called me, I was gutted as I really really wanted the job. I hardly ever check my emails but for some reason that day I decided to, they’d offered me the job the day before by email! Can you imagine if I hadn’t checked 😱

I start on Tuesday at 9am! I have been at home with my daughter since she was born (she is now 4.5) i have been studying from home and have just finished my degree. A good time to get a job as she starts school next year, as much as its been hard going at times being a stay at home mum/student (especially during lockdown) Im a bit emotional today at the thought of the chapter being over... excited at the start of a new one though.

So im starting a new (dream) job on the 8th of september, We get our new car on 11th of september (never had a brand new car before) and then we get the keys to our dream home on the 21st of september 😱😱

We had our purchase on a home fall through 4 days before we were due to move and were absolutely devastated! The day after, our 'dream' home went on the market and our offer was accepted on it 2 days later... so weird! Think im getting a lifetime worth of luck and good karma at once!!

They say good luck comes in threes, new car, house and dream job in one month 🙈🙈🙈

I'm in my 50s and have had many, many interviews, and my rule of thumb is...there is no rule of thumb!

Yes, the likelihood is that they will call you sharpish after the interview...but not always. Maybe they offer it to candidate one, and she refuses? Or (and this happens ALL THE TIME) if you interview anyone after Wednesday am, they will always ask for the weekend to "think about it". The means that if they then ring up on Monday to refuse it, then HR will only get in contact with the 2nd choice candidate the following Monday. Time after time as an interviewer, there have been also occasions where if the best candidate is not immediately obvious, you struggle to get a space in everyone's diary to thrash it out.

The reality is that you probably haven't got the job - at the moment.
