She was also an activist who posted and participated in rallies and events as Jessica La Bombalera. Demonstrating against the gentrification of East Harlem, proclaiming it to be her neighbourhood

Essentially she has gaslight,lied and assumed an identity that is not hers. In doing so,other candidates were denied opportunities,remuneration. She has assumed an identity and heritage that was not hers to assume

So hang on. I've seen comments about how she didn't even look black. We'll tbh vanishingly small numbers of Transwomen ever look anything other than Transwomen. Either it is all about how you feel, and therefore it doesn't matter if you are clearly not black, because you feel black. Or we are saying you cannot be black because you don't look black. But then why aren't we saying a person with a penis isn't a woman because a woman doest have a penis? Why are we being over backwards to pretend we can't see the difference between a Transwomen and a woman, but not with ethnicity?

If it’s fine for a man to say he’s a woman then it’s fine for a white woman to say she’s black. We can’t have it both ways. Either claiming to be a member of an oppressed group to which you do not belong is acceptable or it isn’t.

I think it’s always awful when anyone feels like they have to pass themselves off as something else rather than be their actual self. Many, many people in the LGBT community have had to do this for their own safety or to stop being discriminated against.

As a pp said, if I discovered I had a black great-great-grandparent I'd be amazed because I look as white as they come, but it's not beyond possibiliy. If I discover I'm really a man, I'll know I'm losing my marbles because I am a woman.

I do think that she should donate any royalties from her book to charity - however paltry the sum she made off it. Her platform as a professor and WOC would have legitimised her work and helped sales. Hope the publishers pull it asap.

Of course they see the parallels. But it’s easier to throw around slurs, ignore questions, and pretend there aren’t any parallels because to get drawn into a discussion around it would only highlight the argument built on sand. Anyone casually reading the thread though will see how obvious it is.

It is just that woman who pretend to be black are evil and delusional. Whereas biological men, who have male genitals, look like men and speak like men are utterly accepted in all women only spaces and are pandered to by the vast majority of society. Saying you are black does not make you black, but painting your nails and wearing a dress doesn't make you a woman either.

Perhaps posters who come on to discuss a topic or an AIBU are tired of the anti- trans Lobby jumping on to start ranting about trans people and don’t want to engage with them? Just a suggestion.
