She was also an activist who posted and participated in rallies and events as Jessica La Bombalera. Demonstrating against the gentrification of East Harlem, proclaiming it to be her neighbourhood

Essentially she has gaslight,lied and assumed an identity that is not hers. In doing so,other candidates were denied opportunities,remuneration. She has assumed an identity and heritage that was not hers to assume

In my naive and childish Utopia, the most important thing is that all human beings are treated equally and with kindness and compassion, and appropriately dealt with when they harm other people - they get re-habilitated if possible or prevented from continuing to do harm.

Isn't it time to have a good hard look at the world we now live in and the direction it is going in and try to work out why so many people are feeling the need to try and alter not only their own painful realities to this sort of extent, but to force other people to collude in it to the point of generating yet more and more division and intolerance?

Telling people they can be anything they want to be if they just focus on manifesting it into reality seems to be part of the problem, as it's being taken to a level akin to utter delusion.

It all seems like such a mess, and when people try to even gently and respectfully suggest that something is going really wrong with society as a whole, the pack of wolves descend with cries of "not fair - you can't possibly understand my feelings and obviously you don't care about them or me!!!"

This particular case - well, read the apology - first impression - this woman has some deep seated issues that need to be addressed. Is she genuinely remorseful or looking for more attention? Who knows. You can't really get inside someone's head through a computer screen. The possibilities of constructing multiple virtual narratives are endless. Through the internet, they are being leaked into the real world.

What is truth? What is fiction?

It didn’t say if any had actually complained. Plenty of woman have though and been ignored. And it’s still ok for tots in the library though.

I’m sure there are many incidents in the past where men has pretended to be a woman in order to gain some advantage. They don’t need to bother now though as trans men are considered women anyway.

I think the being Jewish thing is relevant because it can make being white more ambiguous depending on the particular ethnic mix of the Jewish person. I've met Jewish people who looked more anglo-saxon than me and others who looked almost asian.

Perhaps she could identify with being part of a minority group with a voice as opposed to being part of a minority group that for reasons which I will never fully understand are much maligned. Where are Jewish rights? Jews have been persecuted since time immemorial. Why?? Maybe she felt she was living a life that felt more relatable to her and one in which she could be an activist for change. People do far worse each and every day yet the fact she is Jewish will make her a soft target for the bile and vitriol people seem to get away with directing at the jewish community.

This sort of shit has serious consequences. Jamie Shupe campaigned to be the USA’s first legally recognised “non-binary” person and have an X recorded on his birth certificate and passport. Shupe was lauded by the Guardian for doing so.
