DH screaming at local kids to fuck off

Well not exactly but he might as well have done. We have a 1 year old dog who barks at every little noise. Anyone walking past the garden sends her crazy. We live next to a walk path popular with dog walkers. Not too much of an issue as they tend to be quiet which our dog can handle.

When lockdown started the path became popular with people taking their kids for their “one hour exercise” so this is where the trouble started. Kids running up and down screaming etc ... dog going crazy ... eventually she got used to that but now people have decided that the bushes near our fence are great for their kids to play in ... this absolutely sends our dog crazy as the kids are messing on the fence. She barks, they scream, she barks more .... it’s become a nightmare.

Last night kids were messing near the fence. Dog started barking. DH went to bring her in and then heard the kids shouting “woof woof woof” stood directly facing the fence deliberately winding her up. He then said very loudly “it’s ok Cujo, they’ll all fuck off back to school soon thank god” 😱 it went quiet and they walked away.

I said he shouldn’t have sworn at them and his argument is he didn’t swear AT them. Just about them. I believe two of them might belong to my neighbour 🤦‍♀️ Not seen her yet but if she brings it up do I apologise or ask her to keep the kids from winding up the dog?

Both.

Backtoschoolnotsoonenough · 02/09/2020 15:55

Paint your fence with anti climb paint. You will need a sign advising I believe.
I am with your dh tbh...

NearlyGranny · 02/09/2020 15:55

He could have got his message across without modelling bad language.

CocoChan · 02/09/2020 15:56

The kids deliberately winding up the dog were around 10/12 years old btw

Yes agree with @NearlyGranny I would apologise for the language but request that she asks her kids not to deliberately annoy the dog

mbosnz · 02/09/2020 15:56

Sorry, I'm having a bit of a giggle, here. I'm sure the kids have heard worse. . . if not used worse themselves. . .

CuriousaboutSamphire · 02/09/2020 15:57

Meh! Kids were being kids. DH was being DH. Nobody got hurt.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/09/2020 15:58

Utterly dreadful and very funny.

Sorry I'm not helpful.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 02/09/2020 15:58

If they're the sort of children who would deliberately wind up a dog I doubt they'll be at all fazed by a swear word, tbh.

Shoxfordian · 02/09/2020 15:59

I would have laughed as well
Kids sound very annoying

SmellsLikeFeet · 02/09/2020 16:00

I'm with your husband
I wouldn't be apologising either

Sh0ck3d · 02/09/2020 16:00

Is your dog actually called Cujo?

Backtoschoolnotsoonenough · 02/09/2020 16:00

Maybe your bushes need watering op... A cold hose work wonders on non welcome dc..
Ime.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 02/09/2020 16:01

If your neighbour mention it just pretend you don't know what she's on about and tell her to ask your dh.

You are not his keeper and shouldn't feel like you need to apologise for him.

BogRollBOGOF · 02/09/2020 16:01

It's fine, they were being aggravating and he was being passive agressive via the dog.

It's not like telling an unfortunate 7yo to fuck off directly just because they went past.

CocoChan · 02/09/2020 16:01

Ok I’m surprised by the replies but I’ll accept I am BU!

Ifmusicbethefoodoflove · 02/09/2020 16:01

At 10/12?! No they’ve said/heard worse and should know better.

SBTLove · 02/09/2020 16:02

He didn’t swear AT them he was talking to the dog.

MyOwnSummer · 02/09/2020 16:02

No one died, i'm sure they hear and use worse language than that themselves at that age.

TheQueef · 02/09/2020 16:02

Seems they got what they asked for.
Don't apologise, it was proportionate.

FunTimes2020 · 02/09/2020 16:02

@SmellsLikeFeet

I'm with your husband I wouldn't be apologising either
Agreed
mummyoneboy19 · 02/09/2020 16:03

Nah, if I was your DH I’d have just told them to fuck off plain and simple 🤷‍♀️

If the mother is upset at her little darlings hearing a swear word perhaps she’d rather have them play in their own garden instead of winding up your dog in yours?

cariadlet · 02/09/2020 16:05

I hate people teasing animals and they were old enough to know better. I generally try not to swear in front of children (still won't swear in front of 17 year old dd who thinks I'm much more innocent and prudish than I really am) but in this case I don't think your dh did anything wrong. If anybody needs to apologise, it's the children and/or their parents.

SorrelBlackbeak · 02/09/2020 16:06

@Sh0ck3d

Is your dog actually called Cujo?
I was wondering that too!
Potterpotterpotter · 02/09/2020 16:08

Well your DH sounds like a right chav shouting at kids.
