DH screaming at local kids to fuck off

Well not exactly but he might as well have done. We have a 1 year old dog who barks at every little noise. Anyone walking past the garden sends her crazy. We live next to a walk path popular with dog walkers. Not too much of an issue as they tend to be quiet which our dog can handle.

When lockdown started the path became popular with people taking their kids for their “one hour exercise” so this is where the trouble started. Kids running up and down screaming etc ... dog going crazy ... eventually she got used to that but now people have decided that the bushes near our fence are great for their kids to play in ... this absolutely sends our dog crazy as the kids are messing on the fence. She barks, they scream, she barks more .... it’s become a nightmare.

Last night kids were messing near the fence. Dog started barking. DH went to bring her in and then heard the kids shouting “woof woof woof” stood directly facing the fence deliberately winding her up. He then said very loudly “it’s ok Cujo, they’ll all fuck off back to school soon thank god” 😱 it went quiet and they walked away.

I said he shouldn’t have sworn at them and his argument is he didn’t swear AT them. Just about them. I believe two of them might belong to my neighbour 🤦‍♀️ Not seen her yet but if she brings it up do I apologise or ask her to keep the kids from winding up the dog?

Kids thing is a bit of a red herring though isn't it - your dog sounds like a right nightmare. What are you doing about the barking?

ILoveFood87 · 02/09/2020 19:06

Your garden would be my new dog shit bin if he said that to my kids.

ekidmxcl · 02/09/2020 19:06

Yet again, unsupervised kids out making bad decisions to goad a dog. I don’t have a problem with what your dh said.

GettingUntrapped · 02/09/2020 19:08

The kids were in the wrong. Dogs are dogs. Christ, do people come down on dog owners as much as the come down on mothers? Sounds a bit like it.

blue25 · 02/09/2020 19:09

I don’t blame your husband. Kids need telling (& parenting).

CottonSock · 02/09/2020 19:10

Poor neighbours

WhateverThePace · 02/09/2020 19:11

You need to train her not to bark at people! Keep her in the back garden until she’s trained. Or someone might throw a brick at her for frightening their snowflake.

It’s a public path so you can’t expect people to be silent on it. Younger kids run up and down shouting, toddlers squeal. Why are you letting her bark at people?

If the kids were climbing up your fence your DH wasn’t U. But if they were saying woof to the annoying yappy dog on the other side he should have apologised for his dog’s behaviour and brought her in. It’s so rude to let her bark at people!

What a revolting person you are. Bringing your kids up to be just as revolting no doubt.
Topseyt · 02/09/2020 19:22

Team DH here too.

Kids who wind dogs up are arseholes.

LynetteScavo · 02/09/2020 19:24

I was all set to be horrified at your DH being so horribly beide.

But having read the OP, I'm with your DH

lotusbell · 02/09/2020 19:28

Nah, they knew exactly what they were doing, I'd said the same myself. Having said that, lockdown has seen an influx round here it seems in barking dogs and owners doing fa about it. Theres a young woman lives near me with a very small yapping dog which barks at everyone and everything, she takes him for several walks a day and talks to him like a baby. She does nothing to try and stop the barking and thinks it's his character. I'm not a dog person, can you tell?

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 02/09/2020 19:31

Your untrained barking dog starts off every time someone walks down the path ?

Train your dog, barking dogs are so unpleasant to listen to.

ILoveFood87 · 02/09/2020 19:31

@msellany thanks hun!

ILoveFood87 · 02/09/2020 19:33

@msellany bet your a top mother 😂 👍

mbosnz · 02/09/2020 19:42

Your garden would be my new dog shit bin if he said that to my kids.

He didn't say anything to the dear wee tots. He was having a private conversation in his garden with his dog Cujo the Chihuahua.

Your garden would be receiving your dog's shit right back if you were stupid enough to do that to mine.

Enchantmentz · 02/09/2020 19:43

I think he was reasonable as they were taunting the dog but the dog does need trained not to be bothered by passersby's.

My neighbour has two dogs- mother and son, me and my dc can't go in the garden without them going off on one. The dogs also aren't suited to each other at all despite being related they both try to dominate each other and are worse at yapping when out in the garden together. Really does my head in and owner isn't actually doing anything about it.

annabel85 · 02/09/2020 19:47

@CocoChan

The kids deliberately winding up the dog were around 10/12 years old btw
The kids owe the apology to you and your dog.
carly2803 · 02/09/2020 19:52

im also with your husband
i would not apologise either. kids need a short sharp shock sometimes!

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/09/2020 19:53

I hope you and your brats live nowhere near me...
CoopsMalloops · 02/09/2020 19:55

I actually laughed. He obviously just had enough of them teasing your dog.
But yes, if she comes round just say sorry.

They'll have heard worse at school, so I doubt their delicate ears will explode. No big deal. Serves 'em right for winding up the dog.

annabel85 · 02/09/2020 19:59

The kids sound like sadists. I wouldn't let them anywhere near your dog. Bloody louts.

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2020 20:02

Personally I’d not be apologising but I’d go round there and say some kids and winding up the dog and you don’t know if it’s their kids but if they know who they are can they get them to stop as it’s animal cruelty.

That always makes folks feel shit.😄
