To feel not witty enough for Mumsnet, but too witty for Netmums

They should make another middle of the ground site for people like me. 😂 Is it just me, or do people on Mumsnet seem more "middle class" than people on Netmums?

Two degrees but six figure income? I WISH.

I’m mainly here for the hilarious Chalet School threads. Tried Netmums, not keen.

FrowningFlamingo · 02/09/2020 16:17

Please someone message me and tell me what The Other Place is. The suspense is killing me!

OneForMeToo · 02/09/2020 16:18

Isn’t babyandbump the middle ground? Not been there for years mind.

PablosHoney · 02/09/2020 16:29

Is the other place Reddit?

PablosHoney · 02/09/2020 16:32

I looked at netmums 13 years ago and they had all these flickery tickers and stupid hearts and flowers. I have been sporadically on Mumsnet for years but usually only fall down the rabbit hole whilst on Maternity leave, more recently it’s been a lockdown distraction.

Sunrise85 · 02/09/2020 16:33

I got banned from Netmums in 2013! All I did was say a mild swear word!!

I hated how a Netmums expert would come along and post on the thread offering their “expert” advice Confused with cuddly emojis.

Pretty sure all I said was “bugger off” to someone slating me for wanting a c section (or something like that) Grin

PablosHoney · 02/09/2020 16:42

There are definitely a lot of people who spend a long time honing their responses, some people are funny but then it depends on your sense of humour too.

PablosHoney · 02/09/2020 16:42

She was lucky that’s all you said @Sunrise85

Sunrise85 · 02/09/2020 16:46

@PablosHoney too right. The twee bitch.

😂

@MaskingForIt

What’s the difference between a Netmums user and a Mumsnet user?

About £30k and a Masters.

GrinGrinGrin So true!

I hate the assumption that working class women can only be vacuous huns knuckle dragging around NetMums and middle class women are all on here being smug and lofty. We are all a melting pot by now surely? I hate being put in a box.

PablosHoney · 02/09/2020 17:26

Tell your neighbour over the washing line @LoisWilkersonslastnerve 😉

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 02/09/2020 17:32

I'm nowhere near mc but I love mn! Lowering the tone one post at a time!

Destinysdaughter · 02/09/2020 17:43

I love MN and I'm not even a mum! Grin

Well, I'm working class, but am smug and lofty. And here, clearly.

Babs709 · 02/09/2020 18:20

How do I find out what class I am please? How do I know if I’m working class or middle class? Maybe in upper class... I’m feeling a bit upper class right now.

Thank you BBC, I’ll be back with the results.

Here you go, @Babs709 --

Take it with a pinch of salt, mind you. It prioritises income, home ownership, pastimes and what jobs your social circle have over upbringing and education, so, despite the fact that my parents were a binman and a cleaner, both of whom left school at 12, and I had a very impoverished upbringing, this survey classes me as 'elite'.

I went on that weird reddit and found out what the other place is called and I think your code is good @giantangryrooster 😂

giantangryrooster · 02/09/2020 19:02

@PablosHoney 😎

I love it here.

Because I like my female friends like I like my coffee: strong, a bit dark and rather bitter Wink

midsomermurderess · 02/09/2020 22:20

Who thinks 'did you mean to be so rude?' is a searing response? You hardly see it now, because it is so silly.
