AIBU to wonder what conspiracy theories you think may hold some weight?

Generally speaking I hate conspiracy theories, but is there anything out there that’s passed off as a conspiracy theory that you think holds some weight? I personally have some questions about the assassination of JFK.

That the wreck of the Titanic is not actually the Titanic. It's her sister ship the Olympic, which was damaged beyond economical repair in a collision with HMS Hawke. She was secretly switched with and disguised as Titanic, sailed what was purportedly Titanic's maiden voyage, and was deliberately sunk for the insurance.

1) car crash. How many people die in car crashes each year? Quite a lot. So not really a conspiracy if a member of the royal family happens to die in one. 2) if you were about to go down for being a peado sex trafficker knowing there's a lot of evidence against you and the high life you once lived was about to be replaced by a lifetime in jail, well, I think there's a high chance you'd kill yourself. 3) someone being bullied constantly online and reading total shit about yourself day after day and receiving messages you should just kill yourself whilst also facing the prospect of a public trial well, someone who is depressed may kill themselves. There's nothing even remotely weird about any of that. Nothing mysterious at all. Jeez.

Dr David Kelly for sure.

9/11 - I think USA govt cocked up something security wise and of course won't properly admit it.

I have an odd belief that might be mocked - I believe the moon landings happened BUT I believe the supposed video/audio proof was faked and recorded before they went - tv/video technology was not that great then, given my parents in rural Scotland STILL couldn’t get channel 5 in the 90’s I find it hard to believe they’d cracked good quality, reliable transmission from the bloody moon in 1969!!

But the politics of the time being so precarious they knew they’d need some kind of visible “proof” and publicity. Plus I don’t think the infamous line “one small step...” was spontaneous!

Dr David Kelly didn't take his own life. There has been a massive cover up there.

I was going to say none, but yes this one. Such a sad end. I really don't believe he took his own life.

My dh is suspect about 9/11 for a few reasons (the insurance policy taken out days before specifically adding plane crash damage, and the presence of explosives in the building). I find it had to believe someone could do something like that and kill and hurt so many people.

It's remarkably difficult to strangle yourself using nothing but your own bodyweight slightly bent forwards. Normally you'll pass out before you can actually permanently harm yourself. The bones in his neck show signs that a lot more pressure was exerted than he would have been capable of by himself given the method used, so I think it's a fair bet that he was given help. I doubt it was actually a murder though.

I think Diana's accident was orchestrated from within the arms dealing industry due to her campaigning against land mines.

I think you can question them all to some extent and I think it's good to question. It stops you believing everything you are told, to me that is just as damaging.
It's how far you question and getting to extremes is the problem.
Did 9/11 happen. Yes. Was it exactly what and how we were told? Probably not.

I don’t get the 9/11 conspiracy theories? What are they? I come from a flying background so I’m sceptical.
I do think Jeffery Epstein was murdered. I also think Robert Maxwell was murdered (Ghislaine’s f) as that was as dodgy as fuck. I think it’s all linked.
Certainly David Kelly’s ‘suicide’ is on dodgy grounds.
I think Marilyn Monroe knew more than anyone what was going on politically.

Was it? I still remember the crime watch programme with them investigating her murder and how, oh what was his name, Nick something? How his voice broke when talking about her.

Someone asked about Dr David Kelly and why people think there is a coverup. I think it's the fact he supposedly cut his wrists under the tree where he was found, but there wasn't enough blood on the ground for that to have happened. The thinking is he was killed elsewhere and placed there.

But why would Boris lie about that?

Yes the moon landings did happen but it couldn't be guaranteed that the visual proof would be clear or good enough so NASA made a just in case video - which was used as the real moon landing video was rubbish.

LHO was not an 'incompetent' with a rifle. The complete opposite in fact. He was highly trained and a very accomplished marksman.

The fact he chose to shoot at Kennedy as the motorcade was moving away, rather than towards the side of the building to the left is a bit odd, and also, the rifle was a bit rudimentary, but the FBI managed to replicate the shots once they stopped mucking about and actually gave it to marksmen on a par with the skill of Oswald who where given time to familiarise themselves with the actual weapon.

As I've already said, I have doubts that LHO was the only shooter, and also that he was the only one to hit the presidential party, but I don't discount entirely that the 'official' lone gunman line is actually true. LHO had been keeping some really odd company in the years immediately prior, his movements and the places he frequented were curious in a lot of respects. He kept the company of a lot of people who had good reason to want JFK out of the picture, so it's not like he was just a random picked up off the street and stitched up.

His murder is a different story altogether. Jack Ruby had no love for JFK whatsoever. This line that he was ashamed on the behalf of Dallas and didn't want Jackie to have to sit through a trial is nonsense. I think whoever manipulated LHO also had JR kill him to shut him up.

There are some very odd things about Lee Harvey Oswald, especially his defection to the Soviet Union and then his return to the U.S. I have some suspicion that he had closer ties to the CIA than have ever been admitted. He may conceivably have been a patsy, as he claimed. But I definitely don’t buy any of the wilder speculation about JFK’s assassination.

However, I am very uncomfortable about most contemporary conspiracy theories. The ones about 9/11 are mostly far fetched and easily disproved. And some conspiracy theories are downright horrendous, especially those relating to the Sandy Hook tragedy. People who claim that terrible tragedy was a hoax performed by “crisis actors” are simply beneath contempt IMO. Not to mention the sheer insanity of QAnon.

MK Ultra definitely happened, very long ranging experiments over 20 years. Plenty of testimony about it and 20,000 plus documents - so that's not a conspiracy theory

That stuff about Prince William and Rose Hambury is just horrible gossip - the only reason international papers print it is because they have much looser restrictions than here - those same pictures ran photos of Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless - not allowed here

Assassinated by Serbian agents because of her interference in the conflict. The way in which she was killed is absolutely textbook for former Yugoslav agents. They were even seen loitering around her home address for days on end before she finally appeared.

I love a conspiracy theory, even the far fetched ones.

Mandela effect - there are a few things I remember differently to the facts and things have changed literally before my eyes, definitely think it’s possible there are multiple universes causing it or even time travellers changing our past
I have doubts about the moon landings, it’s likely they have been but the footage shown is fake to cover something. By now the detail should be perfect for outer space travel, but it always seems off to me.
