AIBU to be so excited to be overweight?

Sorry for abusing AIBU but I’ve really hit a milestone today.

I’ve been losing weight for about a year and a half now after stepping on the scales at 17 and a half stone. I decided enough was enough and I needed to get really serious about losing weight. This was hampered slightly by unexpectedly falling pregnant just under a year ago. I tried to be really careful in pregnancy not to put on unnecessary weight and managed pretty well with just trying to be healthy.

Since giving birth three months ago I’ve been back on the weightloss wagon - it’s been tricky to get the balance as I’m exclusively breastfeeding so I’ve worked to find the sweet spot of calories that help me lose weight, but still give me enough not to jeopardise my supply or leave me feeling unwell.

I stood on the scales this morning to see 13 stone 8, which at my height puts me in the overweight bmi bracket rather than the obese bracket for the first time in a long time! I know I still have a long way to go and I still weigh a lot more than I should but this feels like a real milestone. Next one will be when I reach a healthy weight!

Thanks! Sorry this is a boasty brag post but I don’t have a lot of people to tell on real life as I haven’t really shared my weight ups and downs stuff, so I just wanted to tell someone.

Massive well done.

As you only gave birth 3 weeks ago more should still come off naturally with blood and fluid loss plus breastfeeding 👍🏻

That's a huge amount of weight to lost, it must have taken some determination.

JustCallMeGriffin · 27/08/2020 14:19

Well done - being "only" overweight is a massive achievement and you should be rightly proud. Keep up the good work!

WhyIsItSoHardToPickAUsername · 27/08/2020 14:20

Oh sorry I read 3 months as 3 weeks!

Sk1nnyB1tch · 27/08/2020 14:20

Woohoo 🙌 Be proud of yourself!
To continue losing weight healthily while breastfeeding is a huge achievement Flowers
Just think your baby won't remember you as anything but a healthy weight.

I nearly started this same thread last week when I finally reached overweight! It’s a very good feeling, well done op. Any diet or exercise tips you want to share to help us get down to the healthy bracket?

RyanBergarasTeeth · 27/08/2020 14:44

Well done op feel free to boast away its a huge achievement.

ItsIslandTime · 27/08/2020 14:46

Well done OP. Slow and steady is the way to go. Losing weight is one of the best ‘gifts’ you can give yourself and one of the few things in life that you (Most people) have complete control of and that you can do for yourself.
