AIBU to be so excited to be overweight?

Sorry for abusing AIBU but I’ve really hit a milestone today.

I’ve been losing weight for about a year and a half now after stepping on the scales at 17 and a half stone. I decided enough was enough and I needed to get really serious about losing weight. This was hampered slightly by unexpectedly falling pregnant just under a year ago. I tried to be really careful in pregnancy not to put on unnecessary weight and managed pretty well with just trying to be healthy.

Since giving birth three months ago I’ve been back on the weightloss wagon - it’s been tricky to get the balance as I’m exclusively breastfeeding so I’ve worked to find the sweet spot of calories that help me lose weight, but still give me enough not to jeopardise my supply or leave me feeling unwell.

I stood on the scales this morning to see 13 stone 8, which at my height puts me in the overweight bmi bracket rather than the obese bracket for the first time in a long time! I know I still have a long way to go and I still weigh a lot more than I should but this feels like a real milestone. Next one will be when I reach a healthy weight!

Wow! That is impressive. A lot of people really struggle to lose weight. You should be so so proud!!

Also, recognizing that you still have a way to good ... that's being realistic and smart.

Nice one! I had no idea how hard it was losing weight until I saw a friend tackling it. And then I had to do it myself. It may be simple, but it's definitely not easy. You should be proud!

Dogwalks2 · 27/08/2020 15:14

That's an amazing achievement at any time, but in the early days of caring for a newborn it's even better! Well done, when mine were infants I was comfort eating and filling up on carbs, there's no way I could have watched the scales then. Keep on this path, you're doing brilliantly Flowers

katy1213 · 27/08/2020 15:47

That's a huge achievement, well done.
