i literally don't drink plain water. i drink a can of coke zero with my lunch and another with my dinner, i try to drink green tea with my breakfast but.. this almost never happens and i give in and have an iced coffee/milk tea (cold, milky tea), it's really bad, i get headaches but i can't bring myself to drink water. Set reminders on your phone to drink water. I have an autistic friend that does this or they forget to drink.

mintyfreshh · 17/08/2020 20:35

Coke Zero is full of rancid aspartame and caffeine, both of which would absolutely shred my insides now. I have IBD and the tiniest drink of artificial sweetener sets me off.

Mummyofmay2020 · 17/08/2020 20:40

You're harming yourself and fizzy drinks are addictive. I would get help

ButterflyBitch · 17/08/2020 20:48

When I was a teenager I used to drink lemonade like I now drink water. Until the dentist said the enamel on my teeth was wearing away from all the sugar. So now I drink water. Only time I haven’t been able to drink it was when I was pregnant. Then I had juice or strawberry milkshake.
Would ice cold water help? Or as others have mentioned fruity flavoured water? Even a glass of juice sometimes would help though not good for your teeth.

Mrsbclinton · 17/08/2020 20:54

Could you try drinking it with a straw? I dont know why but sometimes I find it easier to sip water with a straw.

MoggyMittens23 · 17/08/2020 21:06

The people who are saying they don't drink water, no ill effects.

Well no, maybe not yet. But it will all catch up with you in the end, no? A bit like years of drinking or smoking or overeating. Water is important for your body, it's a fact.

Winterwoollies · 17/08/2020 21:07

Add a weak, sugar-free fruit squash. I do and it makes it much more quenchy.

TheMostHappy · 17/08/2020 21:25

Cucumber in iced water is very drinkable. And it's very nice in fizzy plain water too. I'm not a fan of water generally but I am much more able to drink fizzy.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 17/08/2020 21:31

I get it OP, sometimes I go the whole day having had just a cup of tea. Drinking anything just gets lost in my day.

LioneIRichTea · 17/08/2020 21:38

My sisters front teeth started going see through from too many diet drinks. Think certain sweeteners do this. She was drinking several cans a day though!

MaxNormal · 17/08/2020 21:40

Don't be mean to OP people, not liking water isn't a crime and she's taking it all with very good grace!

HouchinBawbags · 17/08/2020 22:26

Good god there are some sanctimonious shits on here. YOU may not mind the taste of water but CLEARLY there are plenty of people who dislike its taste because there's enough people on this post alone who have said they don't like it.

I have to take a few tablets a day and usually grab a glass of water for them. And retch after drinking it. It does have a horrible taste to me. Hey, I don't like fish either but fuck anyone who tells me I'm wrong because they like it. We are all different and we all have things we don't like to eat or drink.

OP, you know you need to drink more so go with what you like as long as it's not bad for you (Diet Coke is not ideal tbf)

It’s the carbonation, it dissolves tooth enamel.

I don't get this obsession with water. 😆 I'm sometimes try it to see if it transforms my life, but I rarely get past 2 days of running to the loo every 30 minutes.

I usually drink:

3 big mugs of weak black coffee in the morning
1/2 pint water with a fizzy Vit C tablet in it, mid-morning

Can of diet lemonade with lunch
1 or 2 mugs decaf tea in the afternoon
1-2 glasses water with dinner
Big mug of camomile tea before bed.

That's enough, surely? I did wonder if I'd got dehydrated during the recent heatwave as I got a huge spot! I never get spots. But otherwise I'm fine. Aren't I..?

RightOnTheEdge · 17/08/2020 23:30

I'd join that group sugagi

I hate water it makes me feel sick
I drink squash or flavoured fizzy water. It’s persons preference.

CorianderLord · 18/08/2020 00:00

Put a big bottle in the fridge and pour water from there. Cold water is divine compared to lukewarm tap water

genteelwoman · 18/08/2020 00:40

I love water but didn't always drink enough and changed this at 13 to make sure I was sufficiently hydrated by

  1. Using ice blocks or freezing my water sk it is super cold. I can't do hot water (so rarely have hot drinks) and Lukewarm water makes me gag and I have been known to throw up esp if I gave more than a glass. I can only drink cold water -try varying the temperature and see which one is tolerable.
  1. I love sparkling water.
  1. Find a good cordial ( I rarely drink one now) but it's a good start -you can start with all squash then reduce to 75% squash and 25% water until you get to 1 glass of squash and 7 of water a day.

Also try a filter. I find water in some places tastes so much better than others.

Good luck OP

beanbaggo · 18/08/2020 00:49

I drink more now because I work with older people who have only drank tea and forget to drinks they end up dehydrated and confused constantly as a result of forgetting to drink. I am making a point of getting into the habit now because it's scary how much it can affect a person but not drinking

UnagiSalmonSkinRoll · 18/08/2020 01:39

I drank loads of Pepsi max, so much in 1 day and it was making me bloated and sluggish and I swear it does make you put weight on when you drink loads. So a month ago I stopped buying it and have started drinking weak diluted juice, and i feel healthier. I now only have a fizzy drink if I go out for a meal.
