Just euugghhh Or is it just me???

My grandad always kept a pile of crossword books on the windowsill next to the toilet and it made me really uncomfortable 😂😂😂

Please say I'm not the only one who thinks it's a bit grim??

It made you uncomfortable? Why, did he get some of the answers wrong?

DinoGreen · 16/08/2020 13:16

Haha! When I was growing up we had a magazine rack in the toilet! Now people take their smart phones to the toilet but if I didn’t have a smart phone I’d want something else to read or do so doesn’t seem weird to me!

Lockheart · 16/08/2020 13:16

I've got a book in the bathroom which I haven't moved since I finished it in the bath last week, did know it was so disturbing.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/08/2020 13:16

Ain't gonna read a toilet paper🤷🏻

@Palavah 😂

WitsEnding · 16/08/2020 13:17

Yes, grim. Have friends who keep a stock of books in the loo, why?
Slightly less grim to bring your own book, phone or tablet, but still unsanitary.

ElizabethMainwaring · 16/08/2020 13:17

Yep, it's minging Envy

Toilenstripes · 16/08/2020 13:18

It’s grim. I just want to do my business and then get away from it as fast as possible, not linger in the unpleasantness. 🤢

Pelleas · 16/08/2020 13:18

Yes, I agree. Really dislike the idea of reading on the loo. If it takes someone so long to have a shit that a book is necessary to while away the time, they need to be seeking medical advice about constipation.

GlamGiraffe · 16/08/2020 13:18

It's horrible. All the gems transmitted. When you flush. Germs are propelled into the air so his books are a contamination hotspot.
I've never understood why you go into peoples houses and they have a stack of books beside the loo
I dont understand why people sit on the loo reading their mobile phones either.equally grim.. mi assume they dont anti bac them every time they walk out?

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:19

Yes!!! And they were really easy ones!!!!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/08/2020 13:19

Lol. Your phones have more nasty on it than these books😂

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:20

Haha!!

OP posts:
alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:21

I mean reading whilst on the toilet, not whilst in the bath! 😂 I'm not do disturbed that I need therapy, just a bit 'I wonder how people have touched that whilst having a poo' sort of uncomfortable 😂

OP posts:
Palavah · 16/08/2020 13:22

Then put the lid down before you flush?

By your logic everything in the loo is contaminated - so spare toilet roll, towels, sanpro.

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:22

Hopefully not covered in poo cloud though 🙈🙈🙈🙈

BikeTyson · 16/08/2020 13:24

Am I the only person who closes the lid to flush? I don’t keep books in the toilet because I don’t get 2 minutes peace in there anyway (toddlers) but I don’t really see the problem.

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:24

I clean my bathroom regularly. .. I'm not sure books are regularly cleaned that are being read on the toilet 😂😂😂

OP posts:
QuacksInTheDark · 16/08/2020 13:26

All you dirty fuckers flushing with the lid up 🤮

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:26

But don't you clean your toilet regularly? Not quite as bad as several people touching the same book, flicking through the pages whilst having a poo! 😂😂

OP posts:
Minxmumma · 16/08/2020 13:27

The only real reason we don't have is I would never get himself or the kids out of there!

alphabetsoup1980 · 16/08/2020 13:27

😂😂😂

That actually makes it worse, because more pressure builds up and so particles are fired further from the gaps between the lid / seat / bowl.

You are quite right that anything within about 6ft of most toilets will be covered.

YoTheGinPussyOnThigh · 16/08/2020 13:27

My aunt used to keep a copy of the tourist information guide, Lets Go, on the windowsill in her toilet.

Lockheart · 16/08/2020 13:28

Closing the lid actually makes it worse, fyi.
