'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

Urgh. Typos!!! How ironic Grin

diddl · 15/08/2020 18:18

I always say "pinch of salt".

I thought that it was just "hold the fort"?

Historydweeb · 15/08/2020 18:21

Gawjus
Fucking unforgivable.

tobee · 15/08/2020 18:22

I think it's both "hold the fort" and "hold down the fort". There's also "hold onto that thought" ? But that's different.

Illegitiminoncarborundum · 15/08/2020 18:22

MIL always says

"Be careful in the water, you might drowned. Would hate to see you drownding"

I twitch every single time

VillanellesOrangeCoat · 15/08/2020 18:22

I have truly found my people! 😁😁

TalbotAMan · 15/08/2020 18:23

If you have a second home in Chester?

tobee · 15/08/2020 18:24

@Historydweeb

Gawjus Fucking unforgivable.

See something like "gawjus" I think someone will have done as a joke, to be ott, people copy it and then people lose confidence in themselves and it all becomes a sort of Chinese whispers.

ifhedoesntlikeithecanstuffit · 15/08/2020 18:27

I asked DD (12) to do something the other day and she said 'no, I can't be arsed!'

Or so I thought. When I challenged her on her rudeness, she thought it was 'can't be asked'!

Hope she hasn't said that to her teachers.....Grin

tobee · 15/08/2020 18:29

As a teacher of English as a foreign language, I'm always worrying I'm going to teach somebody something wrong, and try to check and re check everything. English idioms are hard enough to teach, we use them a lot, and without thinking about it. If people are going around saying "to all in tents and purposes" et al then English language learners are going to get even more confused!!!

My OH always says, 'I borrowed him my hammer'. It's lent FFS

Theonewiththecandles · 15/08/2020 18:31

Seizure salad.. not to be confused with a Caesar salad

That's ubiquitous these days. People get very arsey if you correct it.
FoxtrotOscar20 · 15/08/2020 18:32

@tobee
I do. Every time

Facebook friend " beens has it's late " - seeing as
PE teacher email to colleagues " swimming garla"
KS3 literacy leader filling in a crossword infront of assembled parents 'sandles' and 'earing'
More favourites ' making hen's teeth' and ' on tenderhooks ' !

moggiek · 15/08/2020 18:35

If my friend gets bored by a task, she frequently gives up the goat.

Arrivederla · 15/08/2020 18:36

One I can't stand is "bare with me" instead of "bear with me."

You see it all the fucking time on here. Angry

Ohdeariedear · 15/08/2020 18:39

On a FB angry mob post about a local issue someone said the culprit didn’t deserve to have a “lunch mob“ set on them. Further on someone suggested a solution that would give those affected a bit of ‘rest bite’.

Has anyone said gawjuss?

SnugglySnerd · 15/08/2020 18:39

@fuckingcovid

Not related, but someone at a wildlife park described wallabies as 'giant rabbits' to their kids yesterday
That made me laugh out loud!
AngeloMysterioso · 15/08/2020 18:39

Irregardless.
