'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

There was a thread the other day where the op asked why people used "mom" over here so frequently when we're not in the USA. All the answers I saw were universally hostile, with an early reply being "it's regional. Do better". So it seems regionalism is on a par with racism?

I suppose it depends if you like to have the richness of the English language and all its accents and dialects. Or you prefer the queen's English at all times. I'm a bit greedy and like both!

@Ohdeariedear

On a FB angry mob post about a local issue someone said the culprit didn’t deserve to have a “lunch mob“ set on them. Further on someone suggested a solution that would give those affected a bit of ‘rest bite’.

Has anyone said gawjuss?

I like the idea of a lunch mob. Do people go about throwing sandwiches at you?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 15/08/2020 18:45

A pet hate is all of the small shops that proudly have large window signs proclaiming that they sell stationary, including the local post office.
Why don't the printers/sign makers correct or query it with their clients?

Took me ages to work out bone apple tea - great thread,

Spanielmadness · 15/08/2020 18:46

Makes me think of the parent encouraging their children to look at the ‘fox monkeys’ while at the red lemur enclosure.

lidoshuffle · 15/08/2020 18:47

I've seen "chicken manure" on a menu instead of "chicken meuniere". Ok, not an everyday word perhaps, but you'd think a chef or maitre d' would know.

Fewmin gives me the rage

Ishihtzuknot · 15/08/2020 18:50

Chester draws is hilarious
Last week on my local Facebook page someone was selling a barby-queue Grin
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but there was a post shared by thousands a while ago that someone thought lactose intolerant was ‘lack toast and told your aunt’ Grin

shoogal · 15/08/2020 18:52

Love this thread! There are lots that amuse me but I can’t think of any at the moment Argh!
Though on route seems popular lol

hiredandsqueak · 15/08/2020 18:54

My favourite on here was someone writing something was "nutterly ridiculous". I thought it was a typo but nutterly was used again on a later post Grin

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/08/2020 18:55

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Also Spag Bowl really annoys me. It's not bowlognese......

'You're just like a bowl in a china shop'.... so a perfectly normal and expected thing, then....?!

That's another Dave Gorman thing.
Gingerfish91 · 15/08/2020 18:56

when someone’s having a bad day and someone else comments “your be fine”. Seriously drives me bonkers !

GoshHashana · 15/08/2020 18:56

I've seen some eye-watering conjugations of the verb "to text". The best was an old housemate who once wrote to me (ironically by text) "what shall I do if he textses me?"

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 15/08/2020 18:56

I saw a post on Facebook earlier asking if anyone had one for sale and they put a photo on their post for a tension...

Someone asked about the photo and the poster repeated the photo was for a tension...

It got in tents it did..

Gingerfish91 · 15/08/2020 18:58

Oh and the word “Lil” instead of “little” .

midnightstar66 · 15/08/2020 19:03

Lack toast and tolerant for dairy issues is one of my all time favourites, however I saw rest bite from a very well educated (phd level) individual the other day so possibly there's no hope for the English language lol.

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/08/2020 19:04

@Mochudhu

It's such a palava.
What should that be then?
Naticus · 15/08/2020 19:08

"Play it by hour" (ear)

mrsmummy1111 · 15/08/2020 19:10

@Pomegranatemolasses

People referring to the the ground as 'the floor'.
Eh?
drspouse · 15/08/2020 19:11

I saw someone advertising her kids old 'bump beds' for sale online
My DD says "night night, sleep tight, don't let the bunk beds bite" but she is 6 and can be excused.

DotForShort · 15/08/2020 19:14

@CaptainMyCaptain, it should be spelled palaver.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 15/08/2020 19:14

“Chicken cord on blue” on the menu
maybe is was an homage to Bridget Jones and her blue string soup?

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/08/2020 19:15

OK. You're right. I probably rarely see it written down.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 15/08/2020 19:17

followed by pavlova for dessert, or is that too much palaver?

NameChange84 · 15/08/2020 19:19

I seriously need some rest bite from this stupidity.
