To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

There can be huge variation in people's bodies.

I had an ex who showered very frequently, he had very dry skin (he suffered from eczema a little), but he was a runner and he'd come back with rivers of sweat pouring off him. He never smelt of BO but he did have an unpleasant vaguely wet dog type smell.

My current partner showers less often than my ex, but he smells less. He also smells more like a human rather than a wet dog, but it's not an unpleasant smell unless he's been to the gym. He's not a very sweaty person.

Monday55 · 14/08/2020 23:22

@misschoices what does your partner scrub his skin with? Does he use bare hands? flannel? exfoliating gloves? ... or?

namechangeokay · 14/08/2020 23:23

Oh so this is one of those 'weird men wanting to know women's bathing habits to get off on late at night' trolls that everyone talks about. Gotcha.

Kipperandarthur · 14/08/2020 23:23

Well here’s a novel new idea. Try showering daily and see if you get any new/different comments!

eaglejulesk · 14/08/2020 23:23

I shower most mornings, but sometimes skip one weekend day. In winter I will shower every second day, especially when I'm not working. I think your routine is fine OP.

Redhair23 · 14/08/2020 23:24

Don’t you feel a bit stale if you don’t shower every day? I shower in the morning and bath at night.
It didn’t occur to me that unless there are medical reasons that people wouldn’t shower every day at least once.

Titsywoo · 14/08/2020 23:24

Every other day in the winter/cooler weather. Everyday when it is hot. I don't really sweat much anyway and find my skin/hair gets very dry if I shower too much. If I go to every 3 days I feel gross and itchy. What is the itchy thing about I wonder?

Lockheart · 14/08/2020 23:25

@springiscoming12

Why wouldn’t you shower everyday? I’m always shocked (and disgusted) when I read these threads - just shower everyday like a normal and clean person.
Yeah all you people with disabilities who may rely on carers to wash you, or have painful skin conditions, or may not have regular access to a shower - just be normal and wash every day because I say so!
misschoices · 14/08/2020 23:25

I just don't need to- I feel dry and overly flaky if I shower daily. No thanks.

Never.

feelingfree17 · 14/08/2020 23:26

Every day, sometimes twice, or shower in morning and bath in the evening

Titsywoo · 14/08/2020 23:27

It isn't disgusting to shower every other day unless you are exercising/sweating a lot every day. It amazes me how many people are worried about the environment yet have 2 showers a day. Who needs to shower for 30 mins?!

Lockheart · 14/08/2020 23:27

What if they don't need to? Not everyone is the same as you.
userxx · 14/08/2020 23:27

You do what you need to do op. There's no right or wrongs 🤷‍♂️

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 14/08/2020 23:28

Maybe twice a week? I don't smell. Like you, don't sweat much (for a fat lass).

misschoices · 14/08/2020 23:28

@Monday55

He uses his hands and a bar soap.

He doesn't really wash clean so I don't know what the point is really- he comes out smelling like cheese, with the shower smelling like soap.

OP posts:
Jelly4444 · 14/08/2020 23:28

I know what you mean @misschoices

We have a sauna and my husband sweats buckets in it. (He's not overweight). I get a slight glow about me! I don't sweat much generally.

I shower once a day however (at least). Its more to wake me up and to feel fresh though. I couldn't function without a shower in the mornings Smile

Micsam89 · 14/08/2020 23:29

Twice daily - morning and night. I live in Australia. I like my morning one to wake me up and make me feel fresh before work, and often am sweaty from exercise. And night one because to wind down and get clean if it's been a humid day

misschoices · 14/08/2020 23:34

@ScrimpshawTheSecond

Thank you for that article!

I do not feel good when I excessively use hot water and soap on my body. I also only have to do my hair 3 times a week- less usage of blow dryer or can let air dry. Good for the environment and I have more time to focus on other things!

OP posts:
k1233 · 14/08/2020 23:35

Apart from body odour, there's dirt - or do you never do any outdoor activities?

It seems I am the only one flabbergasted by to 20-30 minute showers. That's incredibly bad for the environment. I take it you haven't been through a severe drought before.

INeedNewShoes · 14/08/2020 23:35

During a heatwave I shower every day but the rest of the time I only shower every other day.

Every shower is a palaver as I have psoriasis on my scalp and eczema on my body which are exacerbated by showering and require special treatments every time I shower which are time consuming to apply. Frequent showering definitely makes my eczema worse.

If I could just merrily hop in the shower for five minutes then dry myself and get dressed I'd most likely shower every day but as every shower means applying thick eczema cream I just can't be doing with doing it every day.

I don't believe I smell bad on day 2. I have plenty of long-term friends and find it hard to believe I wouldn't have an inkling if I smelled. I'm certainly very sensitive to other smells and can smell my hair if I've been frying food for example so it's not that I'm oblivious.

SavageBeauty73 · 14/08/2020 23:35

Every morning unless ill.

Wilko312 · 14/08/2020 23:36

What a weird thread. I do think most people wash daily as it's part of their routine but also if you think back to the 60s when people had outdoor loos etc a daily wash and 1 bath a week was all they were able to get. Ill bet they didn't all stink.

It's rude to suggest people should wash everyday in the same way it's rude to suggest those that don't are scruffs.

springiscoming12 · 14/08/2020 23:36

Nothing in the OP about disabilities, caters or skin conditions etc... what a cheap argument, honestly. I’m not even sure why I’m bothering to reply to you who, like many on this site, always seem to want to mention these circumstances to support your argument when you know that’s not who the discussion is about
