Chocolate selection-surprisingly contentious

lookatallthosechickens · 14/08/2020 21:01

This has been an argument throughout a 15 year marriage. Selection box of chocolates (in this case, Celebrations) exists in our home. I, a reasonable person, take the ones I like and leave the awful ones to languish until someone finally eats them out of desperation. Husband insists that I am selfish and rude and that one must select blindly and allow fate to decide whether you get to enjoy a lovely Snickers or ruin your entire night with a Bounty.

Yes- blind selection
No- maltesers and snickers first

Blind selection is a disgraceful suggestion. You snooze you lose 🤣

AllPlayedOut · 14/08/2020 21:02

YABU about Bounties. They're one of the best sweets in the box.

Merryoldgoat · 14/08/2020 21:03

YABU because Bounty are delicious.

Zoecarter · 14/08/2020 21:04

You pick what you want obvs Yabu with wanting snickers tho

MaskingForIt · 14/08/2020 21:04

I can’t vote, because clearly one eats all the Maltesers first and leaves the Snickers for some other sucker to eat!

firstevernamechange · 14/08/2020 21:04

Send me all your Bounties. I'll dispose of them for you.

NothingIsWrong · 14/08/2020 21:04

I'll have the Bounty! My favourite :-)

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 14/08/2020 21:04

Of course you choose. Snickers are vile - urgh.

1questionshootout · 14/08/2020 21:04

Clue is in the name: selection. You select the one you fancy at that moment. Blind choice is madness.

toomanyplants · 14/08/2020 21:05

What kind of maniac thinks blind selection is a good idea?
Good lord LTB immediately. Take the chocs with you.

ladygracie · 14/08/2020 21:05

Blind selection is only appropriate if you like all of them. If not, then it’s madness.

HelenaJustina · 14/08/2020 21:05

Blind choice is madness, you eat the ones you like and leave the others for those slower or more desperate!

TeenPlusTwenties · 14/08/2020 21:06

Maltesers first

Then the diary milk / milky way / mars bars / caramel

Leave the bounty & snickers

BertieBotts · 14/08/2020 21:06

Ooh no blind choice is the best! Element of surprise!

However it doesn't work when you're sharing. So I would say go for your favourites in that situation.

claireb707 · 14/08/2020 21:07

Send the bounties my way 😋😋 my favourite!

Can't stand Mars or milky way (luckily Oh likes them)

We fight over the bounty, snickers and malteasers

Peach1204 · 14/08/2020 21:07

We split them evenly but I can't have the bounty or snickers so DH always gets more!

EhUp · 14/08/2020 21:09

There is no way I would play Russian Roulette and select a chocolate without a menu/knowledge of what I'm choosing

Nothing worse than wasting calories on something shit like fudge or a strawberry cream

YABU to suggest that Bounty are bottom tier though. Bounty are top tier!

MinorArcana · 14/08/2020 21:09

Surely everyone picks their favourites first?

I love Bounties BTW

lookatallthosechickens · 14/08/2020 21:11

I should also add that he once suggested we THROW AWAY the flavour guide leaflet from a box of super fancy chocolate last Xmas so that every piece would be a surprise. Absolute monster.

WhereTheCrawdadsSing · 14/08/2020 21:11

Favourites first, obviously! Celebrations are rank though, so yabu Wink.

Whathappenedtothelego · 14/08/2020 21:12

Ha ha, I am with both of you to a point.

If you can see one you like, it's fair game.

Shaking the box up, scrabbling around and picking out handfuls to see what's underneath, or worst of all, tipping everything out onto the table to find the one you want is complete savagery

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 14/08/2020 21:12

If I was a bad person I would tactically eat the ones we all liked first leaving the ones that I like and DH hates to the end.

CalmdownJanet · 14/08/2020 21:13

Oh my god I love the bounties and the snickers are always last here, do you want to me my friend??

MrsGrindah · 14/08/2020 21:13

You are wrong for describing Celebrations as chocolates. Chocolates come in a heart shaped box with a ribbon attached. Then you eat the ones you like the least FIRST , leaving all your favourites till last. And the best ones have a double layer so you can do it all over again.
