@Marahute

Oh and don't get me started on those pram shoes that look like high heels. Envy (not envy)
What on earth are pram shoes that look like high heels?......off I go to Google
MrsHandles · 13/08/2020 11:19

Wait, glue-on bows and high heels for sitting in a pram?! faints Shock

Letmegetthisrightasawoman · 13/08/2020 11:20

DS has a pair of pink dungarees that I got him because I loved them. I usually pair them with a grey or blue top, but yesterday it was a white one. The kid is built like a brick shit house rugby player and has a typical boys haircut. Still mistaken for a girl at least twice. I just didn't bother correcting people after the second time. Nobody thought he was a girl when he was just in a vest, so it really was just the one item of clothing 🤦🏼‍♀️

I agree the bows are hideous. Clothing for children should be comfortable and functional, these are neither.

Letsleepingdogslie8 · 13/08/2020 11:21

@PasstheBucket89

So by saying that the child is misgendering him by passing him a pram, you’re saying that only girls should play with prams?

Quick I’d better remove DS’s before his penis falls off.

BadgeronaMoped · 13/08/2020 11:23

Another whose DC have all been mistaken for the opposite sex, I've always smiled and agreed (can't be bothered correcting strangers). DS1 WAS the most beautiful 'girl' and DD is a bonny lad. DS2 on the other hand, he was unmistakably male as a baby but once his curls grew he too got referred to as 'she' by strangers.
I'm not keen on the baby bows btw, I can see how some people would like them though. Each to their own Smile

Seventytwoseventythree · 13/08/2020 11:24

@bananamonkey ridiculous isn’t it? I recently had this with DD who was only 4 weeks at the time. I got “how old is he?” from a passing lady. I said “she’s 4 weeks” and she looked really put out and said “oh, I assumed a boy because of the blue” (she had on a navy babygrow). I told her I didn’t care, but the look on her face! As though I had tried to trick her deliberately.

Hope I don’t run into her today as DD is wearing a vest with dinosaurs on and blue leggings...

PasstheBucket89 · 13/08/2020 11:24

i don't really object to girly clothes, thats why i think what on earth??!!, there are soo many girlie options out there, surely a girlie hat would do the same job but not as dangerous??? Confused

Yes agree...I actually cringe when a colleague shows be regular pics of her granddaughter because she always has one of those awful bows on .Looks like a carbuncle and not very safe!!

Prettybluepigeons · 13/08/2020 11:28

My son had a MASS of blonde curls and no matter how he was dressed people would say " oh isn't she lovely "
When I replied " yes HE is" they would invariably say " what a waste!" Cos boys shouldn't have nice hair obviously

Rosebel · 13/08/2020 11:28

I hate these bands. My eldest had loads of hair when she was born and my husbands grandmother kept telling me to use a headband. While it would have looked less ridiculous because at least she had hair I refused and finally told her my baby didn't need accessorising.
I don't think they're as popular as they used to be (thankfully). Used to see them a lot but not so much recently.

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 13/08/2020 11:29

I knew a woman who put these on her child a few years ago. Apart from it looking ridiculous, the baby kept putting her hand up and pulling the bow off, and each time her mother just reached over and calmly clipped it back in her hair again. The baby never cried about it, just kept pulling it off, and the mum never complained about having to keep putting it back in. It just kept happening, about once every five minutes. How pointless.

PasstheBucket89 · 13/08/2020 11:30

@Prettybluepigeons,, thats so rude!,, i had similar x

I just Googled these. WTAF. Shock

Whoopsmahoot · 13/08/2020 11:32

loathe them, I think it looks ridiculous

Megan2018 · 13/08/2020 11:32

I loathe it,

11 month DD has not and will not wear one.

Kreacheriscleaning · 13/08/2020 11:36

For anyone else, like me, who was wondering.
WTF? WHY?

Headbands and Bows on bald baby heads,
mylittlesandwich · 13/08/2020 11:38

What on earth are those shoes about?! DS won't even tolerate a sun hat on his head. There's so many things for girls in the shops and so much of it looks pretty impractical. DS wears a lot of dungarees and I'm pretty sure if I'd had a girl she would have worn a lot of dungarees too. Possibly with different prints although maybe not, I tend to pick them up in the sales.

Merename · 13/08/2020 11:38

Hmm. I agree that these bands represent a horrible message that girls must be ‘pretty’, and for others to look at. Never mind the safety risk, I’d never thought of that.

HOWEVER. The snobbery in some of these replies is awful. ‘Tacky and common’ ‘top of my baby chav list’. You are so hateful of others that you have a baby chav list??? There are class/culture issues here, but people are more likely to engage in critical thinking about gender and appearance when they are not judged and accused. People who put bows/ pierce ears etc love their children, they are usually just following cultural norms and if they weren’t looked down at so much then may be more open to hearing why there would be concerns for the child.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 13/08/2020 11:39

Those shoes...🤣🤣🤣 Who thinks of these things?

Casschops · 13/08/2020 11:45

I always think that skinny jeans of thick denhim on baby and toddler legs look uncomfortable.

laughingnow · 13/08/2020 11:48

They look like ‘Best in Show’ from a country fair!

Pram shoes that look like high heels?????

God. I'm not sure I can face googling ...... What is wrong with people?!

MrsSpenserGregson · 13/08/2020 11:51

OMG I've just seen the photo upthread . Why? Just WHY?????

namechangetheworld · 13/08/2020 11:51

I don't particularly like it (although we have a vast headband collection now DDs actually have hair!) but don't understand the 'uncomfortable' comments. All of the baby headbands I've seen are soft, stretchy fabric. No different than wearing a hat really.

User214934514 · 13/08/2020 11:52

Awful. Baby turbans which are all over Instagram are just as bad. I associate turbans with cancer treatment (my mum had them when she lost her hair) and why anyone thinks they look cute on a baby is beyond me.

DD looks identical to her dad and I was really amused by the fact that everyone assumed she's a boy. Though I did cave in and gave her a ribbon or flower band for weddings because her bald head just looked like a sad little potato in a party dress Grin
