I play the Sims. I have lately taken to building and have built a number of homes. I’m getting really into it and have renovated a whole town. I have created an instagram page for my Sims game and share all my builds on there as well as my stories. My next project is making an abandoned Wild West town like the ones we have come across in America. This will likely take a month or so and then once I’m done I’ll move families into it who will then renovate the town.

Last night DH came across my Instagram and went off on one saying I’m a complete giant nerd and he sent the pics to all his family and to his mate. His mate asked if him if I’ve stopped playing grandma turismo because he kept beaten me. DH didn’t know I was playing this car game online with his mate and is now saying I’m an embarrassment and I’ll be the joke of his work place.

Wtf. Is it really so bad to have interests that don’t affect anyone else even if I am a Middle Aged woman?

Grand theft auto is also one of my favourite games but it’s not as good as red dead redemption 2. The amount of times I saddle up my horse and set off into the wilderness only to stop by the river, set up camp and sit staring at the stars ...

I mean, I have on occasion been ripped to shreds by a grizzly bear but on the whole it’s very relaxing

Uhhhh, yeah: no one knew what you liked or did on line until your tiny petulant misogynistic child of a husband made a huge deal of it, and believe me - almost no one cares even now. I'd suggest that you seriously consider dumping this arsehole.

Out of interest - you say renovate the town. Do you have the Eco Living expansion pack? If you do how do you rate it? I keep looking at it with heart eyes but I'm not sure if it's worth the money.

My dc have got me into animal crossing over lockdown and I enjoy a pootle round my island and my dc's island.
(Actually I'm slightly obsessive but DH doesn't mind)

No I don’t have eco lifestyle, it didn’t really appeal to me to be honest. I’ve heard it’s a bit of a pain too as Sims come into your house and nick your stuff. Can’t be doing with that, I’m too much of a control freak with my buildings 😂

I go around all the EA buildings and improve them, I’ve just finished willow creek and the goth house is now white and modern with a touch of Modern gothic decor (And a small pool!). I like all the houses in the town to look like they fit so willow creek is full of New Orleans style houses, white and blue sliding, wooden fencing, fancy trimmings ... I also got rid of the bit modern mansion thing in the corner and built a colonial plantation type house there instead ☺️

It's better than sitting on your arse passively watching boxsets. You're being creative and sharing your creations for other people to enjoy!

He's a massive twat. I'm in my mid 30s and LOVE the Sims, especially the Sims 2 which I have a real soft spot for. I miss having it!

Your DH is being a dick (from another adult Sims player who loves building - I never actually play through, just build houses!). I'll never forget an ex who told me I was being 'embarassing' because I was playing a game on my phone waiting for a train once - despite the fact that his hobbies were getting drunk and fighting.

My sister does this on Red Dead too, and I've done similar on Assassins Creed in the past. It is a lovely bit of escapism and some of the graphic and visual design are just too nice to ignore

I love this sims (Don't play that much these days unless i'm feeling ill/have a sofa day/had lots of time during lockdown).

My DP thought I was somewhat strange until I showed him how we could rearrange our furniture and how the living room would look without the wall.

Quote on quote he asked me to get on the sims yesterday if I could landscape our garden for ideas.

He also knows that i've got a religious culty neighbourhood that's very closely related based on the Amish. Each to our own :)

If you are spending most of your free time on it I could sympathise with him (if he wasn’t so nasty.) My DH spends a lot of time playing WoW online and we have locked horns over it several times. But if this is his way of telling you he wants to spend more time with you he’s going an awful away about it.
