To book Orlando for this September because its cheap?

Freestyleletsgo · 09/08/2020 10:22

British Airways is insisting that it will be flying to Orlando on the 1st September however right know the US will only allow international arrivals into 12 airports and Orlando isn't currently one of them.
We usually go to Orlando every year anyway.
Staying onsite and the parks have massively reduced capacity.

We can also get the appropriate insurance cover.

Great. Have a good time then possibly bring back the virus from a current pandemic hotspot.

Good idea...

trinibrit · 09/08/2020 10:29

President Trump has a travel ban in place for people who have been in the U.K. within the 14 days before travel to the USA. Unless you fall into one of the exceptions to that ban (eg married to a US citizen) you will be turned away at the airport before boarding the plane and will have wasted your money.

BrokenBrit · 09/08/2020 10:31

I’m pretty sure this won’t be allowed! The company probably just want your money to tide over August’s bills!

We will never get on top of controlling the virus if people insist on travelling to hotspots for holiday.

Shortandsweet20 · 09/08/2020 10:31

Have your children already missed a lot of school?

Tryingandfailing · 09/08/2020 10:32

Won't it be hurricane season?

Thunderlights · 09/08/2020 10:33

Book it OP. We go to Orlando every year as well and am going this October. The parks are safe. Orange County (Orlando and the parks are in Orange County) currently has an R rate of less than one as of last Wednesday. Visit Orlando (official tourism board and destination marketing agency for Orange County) is currently lobbying the US government to allow international flights into Orlando. Visit Orlando is also currently encouraging domestic and international visitors to visit Orlando as their economy is built around tourism and can't sustain a drop in tourism for much longer.

Honestly OP, ignore the comments here, go and enjoy yourself and have a fabulous time in Orlando.

TomNook · 09/08/2020 10:34

School?

Muppetry76 · 09/08/2020 10:36

Morons.

Kids have already missed months and months of school, pandemic hot-spot, hurricane season, Disney parks looking VERY different, border controls if you can actually enter the country and quarantine going in.

Yeah, great idea OP, please don't bring any unexpected souvenirs back with you!

Racoonworld · 09/08/2020 10:37

Don’t think USA is currently on the allowed list for the UK so you will need to quarantine for 14 days when you return. Are you able to do that?

QuarantineDream · 09/08/2020 10:37

Honestly Florida is very badly hit right now. I'm desperate for my Disney fix but have accepted it won't happen for at least a year.

QuarantineDream · 09/08/2020 10:38

Sorry, posted too soon - the point being I doubt the situation is going to improve in the next 4 weeks. I wouldn't risk my money - or my health.

Blackbear19 · 09/08/2020 10:38

Can you actually buy park tickets?
The last I heard they weren't selling tickets. What about the 2 week quarantine on return- can your kids afford to miss 4 weeks of school?

Thunderlights · 09/08/2020 10:40

OP would have to quarantine when she gets back.

Visit Orlando are currently lobbying the US government to allow UK citizens into Orlando without having to quarantine.

Anyone talking about hurricane season, well hurricane season is for just under half the year and runs through the busiest time for Orlando tourism, August. Don't worry about hurricane season OP.

Whoknowswhocares · 09/08/2020 10:43

@TomNook

School?
This. Unless you’re the sort of person who has decided that school is too ‘dangerous’ but going to another country with a high rate of infection is fine YABmassivelyU

You currently aren’t allowed in, you will have to quarantine when you get back. Florida is currently listed as having a rapidly increasing virus rate. Your kids have already missed 6 months of their schooling and will miss another month for this even if they let you in and you go every year usually so will have plenty of other opportunities.
Totally ridiculous idea

Thunderlights · 09/08/2020 10:45

OP Florida in total has an R rate above 1. Orange County where Orlando is has an R rate of less than 1.

2155User · 09/08/2020 10:45

I don't even think it's allowed?

Thunderlights · 09/08/2020 10:49

OP I don't blame you if you don't come back to this thread. Some of the replies you've had are bloody rude.

Starbuggy · 09/08/2020 10:52

I think you would need to quarantine in the US, if you were even allowed in. Then quarantine when you got home.

Plus the sheer stupidity of going to a big corona hotspot for no good reason

lostguider · 09/08/2020 10:54

you will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival and the 14 days when you get back to the UK

psychomath · 09/08/2020 10:55

OP hasn't indicated that she has kids?

ilovesooty · 09/08/2020 10:55

I imagine it's cheap for a reason.

Thunderlights · 09/08/2020 10:57

@lostguider

you will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival and the 14 days when you get back to the UK
At the moment OP would have to quarantine upon arrival into Orlando. Visit Orlando (the official tourism board and destination marketing agency for Orlando) is currently lobbying the US government for international visitors flying into Orlando to not have to quarantine and in the past Visit Orlando has been very successful in lobbying the US government.
Pillypocket666 · 09/08/2020 10:57

If you want to go then go. No one else's decision but yours.

GabsAlot · 09/08/2020 10:57

erm no i dont know why ba are saying flights are stilll going(prob jsut to get your money) my dsis just had her orlando flight cancelled in sept
