British Airways is insisting that it will be flying to Orlando on the 1st September however right know the US will only allow international arrivals into 12 airports and Orlando isn't currently one of them.
We usually go to Orlando every year anyway.
Staying onsite and the parks have massively reduced capacity.

If you can afford Orlando every year then you can afford it next year, give 2020 a miss.
Don't be that person.

@Freestyleletsgo

We can also get the appropriate insurance cover.

Can I ask who your insurance is with and what it covers @Freestyleletsgo ? We are of the understanding that travelling somewhere that the FCO advises against invalidates your travel insurance Wouldn't touch Florida with a barge pole but we're wondering about our holiday to the Algarve booked pre-Covid

@guilttripjourno

Go for it. Your choice.
But it isn't her choice.

As many, many, many posters have already pointed out UK citizens are not currently allowed to travel to the US and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.

You can have all the ESTAs and insurance that you like, but you will not be allowed in so it is a waste of time.

And many many posters are wrong..... that noise you hear is me banging my head against the wall again because sweeping statements like that are incorrect but keep being repeated.

In the interest of accuracy I'll mention yet again that some UK citizens can travel to the States, and have been doing so throughout the crisis, but they enter on specific technical/professional Visas or have exemptions for other specified reasons..

What it is it correct to say and is relevant to the context of this thread is that a UK citizen won't get an ESTA at the moment for holiday purposes , and/or any already issued ESTA won't be valid for entry for holiday purposes.

Possible changes ahead

Under the Constitution, the US can detain incoming citizens if they have a communicable disease, but can't refuse them entry.

Given that other countries are keeping incoming citizens in quarantine whether or not they have the disease, that seems fairly sensible actually.

Trump is renowned for trying to do things that are unconstitutional. It will immediately be challenged by the ACLU and will be unenforceable until it's been through the various courts.

My mum and dad were supposed to be flying with BA to Orlando in July but BA were never cancelling the flight even though parents knew it wouldn’t go ahead. The flight was cancelled 10 days before they were due to travel , which they were not going to do anyway. BA are taking ages to cancel flights to America. Do not go you are putting yourself and hundreds of other people at risk.

Thank you for the clarification - of course there are exemptions but we are talking about a holiday here and I should have added "for the sole purpose of a holiday" to my first sentence. The point still stands that it is not up to the OP whether she goes or not.

GabsAlot · 13/08/2020 18:24

well theyre not really linsey unless orlando is different theyve already cancelled my holiday for november

linsey2581 · 14/08/2020 07:44

@GabsAlot my parents holiday wasn’t a package holiday they book their flights and hotel separately. Flights were booked through dial a flight. Hotel was refunded no problem but flights took ages.
