I have just been in the kitchen and could smell burning from the toaster. I asked DH and he said it was the SCONE HE WAS TOASTING!!??
Nobody toasts a scone do they? To be fair he’s from forrin but he’s been here long enough to know better.
It is a leaving offence or does he just need some baked good re-education?

I've never toasted a scone, but I'll definitely give it a try now. I do always toast Soreen though, which DH thinks is very odd!

iMatter · 02/08/2020 18:43

I had a toasted (warmed up in the toaster) scone with clotted cream and jam for lunch.

It was delicious.

I almost had to kill dh when he suggested I might like to share.

Eeeeeeeok · 02/08/2020 18:44

Ltb. Sorry for your loss.

Silentfrog · 02/08/2020 18:46

Leave the forrin bastard immediately!
Disgraceful behaviour 🤣

Timesdone · 02/08/2020 18:46

Being from foreign, maybe he thought it was a crumpet?

Thecobwebsarewinning · 02/08/2020 18:50

I’ve recently perfected scone making using the Paul,`Hollywood bread flour recipe. They are best eaten very fresh but if a few get left over for another day toasting them refreshes them nicely.

whynotwhen · 02/08/2020 18:52

Husband is also from forrin and also toasts his scones. I make him toast mine too as this is one thing he's got right !

Malaya · 02/08/2020 18:55

I always toast a scone if it’s a supermarket one. I find them gluey otherwise. Toasted with lashings of clotted cream and jam. Delicious, especially as it’s warm and the cream starts to melt a bit. If they’re freshly baked or homemade, I don’t toast them.

Happymama24 · 02/08/2020 18:56

I always half and then toast my scones. They get nice and fresh tasting without getting soggy like they do from the microwave

flygirl767 · 02/08/2020 18:58

@AnnaSW1

My partner does. He thinks I am strange not to toast it!
Same! My DH saw me buttering an untoasted cheese scone and implied I was the weirdo!
riotlady · 02/08/2020 18:59

Oooh I have never done this but it actually sounds quite nice! I think a lot of baked goods are better warm, I often microwave cake or muffins.

Cakesaretheproblem · 02/08/2020 19:02

Toast a scone. Yes! And put shop bought chocolate cake in the oven. It goes all.gooey inside yum!

MinnieMountain · 02/08/2020 19:06

I never have but I see where coming from. I normally toast Welsh cakes.

Hoppinggreen · 02/08/2020 19:08

Nobody has guessed correctly where he’s from yet
Clue - they eat nice cakes and waltz

Now I want a toasted scone! My dad used to do this with scones that were a couple of days old and had gone a bit stale. He would put lots of butter on and give them to us for breakfast Smile

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 02/08/2020 19:10

AUSTRIA?

Hoppinggreen · 02/08/2020 19:13

YES! Austria

Hurrah 😀

ivfdreaming · 02/08/2020 19:15

My DH toasts hot cross buns and I find that offensive! Buy a bloody TEATAKE If you want toast something!

Perro · 02/08/2020 19:15

LTB. This is Unreasonable Behaviour.

GrolliffetheDragon · 02/08/2020 19:16

I dad have a stale scone once, so I cut it in half, put a bit of butter on it and popped it under the grill. The butter stopped it actually toasting and kept it moist. Was lovely.

Wouldn't actually toast one though.

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 02/08/2020 19:17

Bag the toaster up as evidence, you'll need it in court Grin

Lelophants · 02/08/2020 19:18

Toasted one this morning. What else would you do with it?Grin

Lelophants · 02/08/2020 19:19

And hot cross buns!

BlueJava · 02/08/2020 19:20

Provided he put the scone in the toaster with jam and cream already on it, then it's fine! Grin
