To leave my lovely DH after this?

I have just been in the kitchen and could smell burning from the toaster. I asked DH and he said it was the SCONE HE WAS TOASTING!!??
Nobody toasts a scone do they? To be fair he’s from forrin but he’s been here long enough to know better.
It is a leaving offence or does he just need some baked good re-education?

YABVU toasted scones are ace! However you don’t put a scone in the toaster, that way leads to a quarter of the scone breaking off and getting stuck in said toaster (I would imagine Blush). Grill is best, I like a toasted scone with real butter and either a little honey or syrup.

Rainbowshine · 02/08/2020 16:41

It was a sultana scone? In that case, LTB!

I really fancy a warm cheese scone now...

GabsAlot · 02/08/2020 16:41

depends on the scone doesnt it

bloody corona

catzrulz · 02/08/2020 16:43

He definitely should leave you, all the more because it was a fruit scone (as in gone) well done that man.
Toasted in toaster OR under the grill with loads of real butter.

Worsthomeschoolteacherever · 02/08/2020 16:43

My DH will toast a scone that’s just come out of the oven!!!!

MayDayFightsBack · 02/08/2020 16:45

WTF, of course you can toast scones. Toasted scones are lovely - as are fresh scones!

BluebonicPlague · 02/08/2020 16:46

Sorry, OP - toasting's the only thing to do when a scone is more than a day old. But PP is right that he shouldn't put it in the toaster. It crumbles and raisins can jam the works. If he can be persuaded to grill the old scone instead, then he's a keeper.

But if it was a bought scone you are both VVU to have them in the house.

Hoppinggreen · 02/08/2020 16:49

My Mum bought them blue do I need to leave her too?

I am really confused, toasting a scone, is that a thing?! ShockHmm

GroggyLegs · 02/08/2020 16:54

The very idea of a toasted sultana scone gives me the boak.

No.
Just no.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/08/2020 16:54

It’s only acceptable if they are stale (ish).

CrockyBetter · 02/08/2020 16:55

I'm having scones for my tea (had cooked lunch) I shall toast one and report back on my findings.

Positivevibesonlyplease · 02/08/2020 16:57

I'd toast a stale one. If I'd been daft enough to buy a packet of supermarket scones in the first place. (Never worth the calories even if reduced to 10p.)

I always do this - buying unnecessarily and toasting. YABU, it’s a sensible way to use them up Grin

onedaysoonish · 02/08/2020 16:58

A freshly baked scone is heaven but a shop bought scone is revolting straight from the pocket. You have to toast it. Give it a try OP and report back!

Oysterbabe · 02/08/2020 16:59

If you haven't had a toasted, buttered scone you haven't lived.

Nottherealslimshady · 02/08/2020 17:00

I heat them in the oven if I can be bothered. Wouldn't toast one though, too dry.

IdblowJonSnow · 02/08/2020 17:00

I tried this at work once. It promptly fell to pieces inside the toaster, burnt and got stuck. Set the smoke alarm off and the toaster was never quite the same after that! Not popular that day!

Dominicgoings · 02/08/2020 17:00

Microwave.
Every time.

CrockyBetter · 02/08/2020 17:01

I am now eating a toasted scone. No fruit, just plain with butter. Very nice!
JinglingHellsBells · 02/08/2020 17:03

LTB

lyralalala · 02/08/2020 17:03

He should have put it in the microwave for 15 seconds. Takes the staleness away perfectly without toasting.

FelicityPike · 02/08/2020 17:08

Oh aye, a wee toasted scone & butter is delicious, but you need to do it under the grill.

cittigirl · 02/08/2020 17:11

WTAF Shock LTB

Eatyourbanana · 02/08/2020 17:12

My 14 year old sister recently boiled milk in the kettle Confused completely ruined in. In her defence, 14 is a learning age. I’d toast a scone though!

Emeraldshamrock · 02/08/2020 17:14

A heated scone under the grill for a light crisp is delicious.
