In my own little world.
Mask in bag.
Walked in.
Noticed a few funny looks.
Went to the salad counter.
Girl behind is looking at me funny.
It took me 10 mins to realise I didn't have my mask on my bloody face.
Has anyone else forgot yet ?
Or am I just totally useless

Posts like this just shame those people who are unable to wear a mask for health reasons

FizzAfterSix · 01/08/2020 20:38

@ilovesooty what a pointless and unkind comment.

Koennt · 01/08/2020 20:40

@Xenia

I just was in a shop in a mask (I am anti mask) and 3 others had none on and I just assumed they were exempt or against it on principle both of which was fine with me - 2 of them were muslims in long black clothes with head covered but not face and the other was a man who looked Spanish and was on his way back from work - no mask. I hope it's a trend to less mask wearing.
Agree with this 1000%
justdoityourself · 01/08/2020 20:41

Yeah I forgot this morning too, wandering around the shop without a care in the world until someone I know spoke to me (mine was in my bag too)

AdoptedAWholeLoadOfShit · 01/08/2020 20:50

I’m going to have to pin one onto every shirt of DH’s when it becomes compulsory here. He went shopping without his wallet today. Hmm

cariadlet · 01/08/2020 20:51

I wonder if there's a regional variation in mask use.

I live in a small town in Sussex. Prior to them being mandatory, mask wearers were very much in the minority. Since the new law came in, I've only seen one person not wearing a mask in a shop.

Ahardyfool · 01/08/2020 20:58

I’ve been on a 3 day exhausting outdoor event with my DD (autistic) and so in a very beleaguered state, stopped to get fuel and cold drinks at a petrol station yesterday on THE hottest day known to humankind. I had just grabbed two apple juice cartons out of the chiller when I realised. I shouted fark at myself, dumped the drinks by the door and ran to get my mask. I was so embarrassed. I have now forgiven myself though. You should too!

Ahardyfool · 01/08/2020 21:00

@cariadlet I hope the one person in Sussex you saw wasn’t me Blush. I was in Haslemere and am very repentant!!

cariadlet · 01/08/2020 21:18

@Ahardyfool You're ok, it wasn't Haslemere. 😉

As the woman I saw was just quietly getting on with her shopping rather than making a big song and dance about how draconian the rules are, I assumed that she was exempt rather than an anti-masker. Going by this thread, I should have realised that she was probably just very forgetful.

Freshprincess · 01/08/2020 21:31

I’ve been good up till today when I went into a cafe to buy a bottle of water after I’d been running.

I’ve only just got used to taking carrier bags with me.

ClaraSais · 01/08/2020 21:37

I always forget bags for shopping even after they quite rightly started charging for plastic ones. Even now I forget! So trying not to forget a mask!

What was unkind about it? She makes the situation harder for people with genuine exemptions and disabilities.

To make it absolutely clear - I am not suggesting that those with exemptions stay at home. My issue is with those who won't wear a face covering because they just don't want to.

Jeremyironsnothing · 01/08/2020 21:52

I had to turn the car round and go back for it. I keep spare disposable ones in there now.

Anordinarymum · 01/08/2020 21:54

You actually went in to Morrisons?? You need counselling dear
Jeremyironsnothing · 01/08/2020 21:54

Everyone wearing them near us too.

ilovesooty · 01/08/2020 21:55

Yes, I've got several reusable ones but I keep a box of disposable ones in the car too in case I forhet.

masterchef98 · 01/08/2020 23:20

We have reusable masks but also a couple of packs of disposables which are split between cars and bags in case we forget. Still managed to jump in a friends car today to go to the beach and didnt take masks. Luckily she had spares, which according to the rules we used to cross the completely empty section of the beach to put our towels roughly 2m away from everyone else.

Intricate56 · 01/08/2020 23:37

Stood at the bus stop this evening, nobody else there. Bus came, got on. Clocked the guy in front of me. "Oh crap" says me. "I'll put it on right now." "No worries" says the driver. "You and him (gestures towards guy who got on in front of me) are the only ones with them." Looked down the bus at a dozen people with no masks on. Message clearly not getting through roundhere.

TheMistressQuickly · 01/08/2020 23:41

Not compulsory in wales yet and teachers are being discouraged from wearing them, I think it’s too late and don’t think they provide much protection anyway

MumW · 01/08/2020 23:59

Don't beat yourself up, you've acknowledged it, move on.

At least you aren't like those who seem to think covering just their mouth is sufficient or, even worse, just their chin.Confused

Or you could've been the bloke in front of me at the till who was wearing a visor and constantly put his hand under it to wipe his nose (no tissue or hanky) and then touched the counter and entered his pin. HmmEnvy(not envy) Was so glad I could go contactless.

Gingaaarghpussy · 02/08/2020 00:22

I went into my local mccolls, a couple who I knew were in there. He had a mask under his nose, she had no mask at all. I told him that having it under his nose was pointless, she said basically that she wasn't wearing one.
At some point when I see her out, I will ask her why?

Osirus · 02/08/2020 00:50

@BKCRMP

I forgot when I went to grab diesel
Oh my god! I’ve just realised I did the same on Thursday evening! I didn’t even have the mask in the car, so I know I didn’t wear it.

It was only me and the person behind the counter (who was behind a screen), so no one else to notice but still! He didn’t say anything to me.

🤦‍♀️

Pineappleheart · 02/08/2020 08:57

When I get dressed in the morning I slip one into my bra 🤣 that way I won’t be caught without one 🤣🤣 (difficult to discreetly remove it it tbh)

FruitLikeAPeach · 02/08/2020 09:00

Yeah I've done it twice now. Got into the shop and started walking round and though 'shit'! And got my mask out.

People forget. It happens.
