In my own little world.
Mask in bag.
Walked in.
Noticed a few funny looks.
Went to the salad counter.
Girl behind is looking at me funny.
It took me 10 mins to realise I didn't have my mask on my bloody face.
Has anyone else forgot yet ?
Or am I just totally useless

@Yellowbutterfly1 it's people being too polite to say "Have you forgot something?" Thought it would be better if they did.

DeathOrGlory · 31/07/2020 14:40

Where I live it's compulsory anywhere in public, so that's kind of good because I regularly forget, but as soon as I pass somebody on the street wearing one, I get reminded and run back/turn the car around to get it.

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 14:40

Why are shopkeepers letting them in??

redcarbluecar · 31/07/2020 14:42

Easily done. I’ve hastily put one on in the shop a couple of times.

DGRossetti · 31/07/2020 14:42

@lilgreen

Why are shopkeepers letting them in??
Presumably they have no powers not to ?

Much as bus drivers can't make people blocking a wheelchair space move.

Or maybe they playing it safe, just in case it turns out to be a mate of Boris who doesn't need to follow the law ?

mrsBtheparker · 31/07/2020 14:42

Cursed myself and drove home again to get it!

Just keep a scarf in the car as I do. I was amazed on another thread how many people have multiple, co-ordinating masks!

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 14:44

Well it’s law from 8/8 according to Boris today.

NutterPotter · 31/07/2020 14:47

This sums me up.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/07/2020 14:49

I recently trid to eat my ice cream without removing the mask....

DGRossetti · 31/07/2020 14:49

@lilgreen

Well it’s law from 8/8 according to Boris today.
So ? The law doesn't apply to everyone, as we now know. Just identify as Dominic Cummings. and you don't need to follow the law.
MorningManiacMusic · 31/07/2020 14:49

We've been in masks since March and if I had a fiver for every time I've come chuntering back to the house to get one, I could retire!
I now carry two in my bag and have a box inside the front door but still sometimes forget initially. Most of our big shops have a special person on the door to remind you and in the little ones the owner/manager tends to tell you sharpish.

Sidewinder30 · 31/07/2020 14:50

I'm in Italy. You can't enter shops where I am without a mask - someone on the door will politely (mostly!) remind you if you have forgotten. You need to use hand sanitiser on entry as well. Everyone just does it. I've not seen anyone arguing the point yet.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/07/2020 14:53

You'll soon get them at every corner, flower shop, street stall etc.
And I would not try to enter a Berlin bus without s mask. You don't mess with a bus driver. Grin

I wanted a change of colour and bought a pink one, DD says I Iook like Miss Piggy, so better not.

MorningManiacMusic · 31/07/2020 14:55

I'm in Italy too. Still walk through doors and go "shit, my mask". Grin

Zuzu5 · 31/07/2020 14:56

I forgot mine yesterday and some idiot decided to shout at me. When I defended myself saying I forgot and was heading home to get it, he noticed my accent and started insulting me for being foreign! I was a bloody foreigner taking all the money from his country, I was a ignoramus and a disgrace to my parents, I was probably only a cleaner and he must make more money than me... Welcome to the UK...

rc22 · 31/07/2020 14:57

I went shopping the other day and thought I'd done really well. Phone, keys, hand sanitiser, mask and even remembered a bag for life. I'm glad I didn't fill my trolley and get to the till before I realised I hadn't managed i hadn't got anything to pay with!!

Koennt · 31/07/2020 14:58

I am an anti-masker, but am compromising with a scarf, which I keep in my handbag. It's a very thin silk one, so takes up no space and isn't too hot. It minds its own business in there until it's needed, so there's no chance of forgetting it.

Bhbunny · 31/07/2020 15:00

@SepticTankYank

The only other person I've seen not wearing them picked me out in the queue in little tesco to ask if we have to wear them now. I asked if he had been living under a rock. He said he works for the NHS and they don't have to wear them so didn't think we would have to. I think he was full of shit and making excuses. He said he was doing a nursing degree and was then going to get a doctorate.
My friend is a nurse and during group training Session they’ve not had to wear them or social distance, sometimes there’s been over 100 in the room. She has only had to wear them during shifts.
Bhbunny · 31/07/2020 15:02

I don’t wear a mask due to exemption, but I still can’t remember to take the carrier bags so I’d be useless remembering the mask too 😂

I do feel the funny looks are unacceptable and I’m actually at the point now where I actually ask people what they’re looking at. I’m exempt for good reason and absolutely fed up of being treated like I’ve done something wrong, when I’ve followed medical advice

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 15:04

@Zuzu5 that’s horrible and I’m sorry you experienced that. He’s an animal and you get them in every country. Please don’t label us all.

I work in a supermarket. Spent a 4 hour shift with my mask on, removed it when I went to my locker to get my stuff then proceeded to happily wander about doing my own shopping with it in my hand until a colleague pointed out that I needed to put it back on Grin

honeygirlz · 31/07/2020 15:10

I like wearing mine Blush

polkadotpjs · 31/07/2020 15:11

I quite like the air of mystery i imagine I have...forgot mine at Spar but they sell them at the front of the shop and pass the packet to the till to pay on way out...marvellous

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/07/2020 15:14

honeygirlz
I have some metal dental work and find that it and a cold wind don't go well together - no pain with a mask on.
