Three questions:

  1. what is the series called?
  2. what genre is it?
  3. how did it make you feel?

Just bought a spin bike and am planning on watching an episode a night and exercising at the same time. Need some suggestions. I'm open to anything!

OP posts:

By the way, Dark is in German, so I recommend watching with subtitles to get the full emotional experience. It's the best series I've seen. It's incredible!

Snog · 28/07/2020 21:21

Animal Kingdom
Crime family in SoCal run by a matriarch named Smurf
Adrenalin fuelled

22Giraffes · 28/07/2020 21:23

Money Heist on Netflix
Crime drama
Absolutly addictive, just binged watch every episode and desperately waiting for the next series. Brilliant characters and the plots are insane!

StCharlotte · 28/07/2020 21:23

Chernobyl - jaw dropping.

MarshaBradyo · 28/07/2020 21:25

Mad Men - watched ages ago
Chernobyl
This is Us - so good, middle of it all now

LonginesPrime · 28/07/2020 21:26

Scandal - political/legal drama with a delicious dash of black comedy. Great characters, a surprising amount of warmth for the subject matter and some fab twists and turns.

Lost - character-driven adventure mystery with a slight sci-fi slant. Worth sticking with through the few bleak bits as there are loads of interesting/poetic/funny bits too. BUT do not under any circumstances watch the last episode - just switch it off and make up your own ending...trust me.

wanderings · 28/07/2020 21:26

Futurama: animated science fiction comedy.

It's by the creator of The Simpsons, but I think it's a lot wittier and funnier. Occasionally some episodes are quite moving.

@Coquohvan

The Tunnel
Crime Drama UK/France
Very good

Not half as good as The Bridge, the original show that The Tunnel was the UK version of.

If you're only gonna watch one, The Bridge is way superior to the Tunnel, OP.

Newbiehere123 · 28/07/2020 21:31

I've rewatched Modern Family and How I met your Mother. This is good coz I have it open in the background and I can do other things at the same time without needing to concentrate too hard as it's easy to follow.

  1. Battlestar Gallactica - a group of survivors try to find a new world to live on, being chased by beings who destroyed their planet. OK Im not the ebst at describing the plot, it's an AMAZING sci-fi series, great scrips, chatacters, I dont watch sci-fi too often
  1. The Wire- already mentioned a few times
  1. The X files - two (and later on 4) FBI agents going after aliens and scary monsters- I LOVED it when it first came out, it has a great script, good dialogue with some fab one liners, a strong female character
  1. Kingdom - Korean series about zombie plague set in XVI century. Short, 12 episodes, keeps you on the edge of your seat, well shot, well acted, a bit of a discovery for me.
Giganticshark · 28/07/2020 22:22

Arrested development

DollyDoneMore · 28/07/2020 22:22

Stath Lets Flats.
Channel 4 sitcom (available on All4) about a Greek Cypriot flat letting agent and his family.
Not just the funniest new British comedy I’ve seen in years, but warm and intelligent - with great female characters too.

LemonyFace · 28/07/2020 22:25

Another vote for "The Detectorists" I find it so calming - maybe not what you need for during spinning, but is definitely a balm for some of the grittier suggestions (e.g. The Wire - which is excellent!)

Piglet89 · 28/07/2020 23:07

Little Fires Everywhere.

Piglet89 · 28/07/2020 23:10

Second @StCharlotte with Chernobyl. Couldn’t stop thinking about it ages after I watched it.

Queenie8 · 28/07/2020 23:16

Better call Saul, Netflix

Greydove28 · 28/07/2020 23:24

It's trashy but I'm loving Below deck

Shizzlestix · 28/07/2020 23:32

@Mousecheese, we just said we should re-watch the lot!

I binged Supernatural at the start of lockdown. Fantasy/demons/demon hunters, 2 hot blokes, what’s not to love?!

Lovely1a2b3c · 28/07/2020 23:39

'This is Us' is wonderful
Genre: drama
How it made me feel: warm and fuzzy...some of the time and definitely makes you reflect on life, family and time a lot- I'm terrible at describing things!

'Life in Pieces'
Genre: laugh-a-minute comedy- really enjoyed this.

We're also watching 'Last Kingdom', which is worth watching if you liked 'Game of Thrones'.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 28/07/2020 23:44

Why did i never think of putting the subtitles on The Wire?!
Great series, it does have a death rate like GoT though

ErrolTheDragon · 28/07/2020 23:55

We've just finished watching all of Halt and Catch Fire - excellent, and gets better as it goes. Maybe particularly appealing if you're a woman who's been in 'tech' of some sort since the 80s Grin.
Genre - Wiki calls it a 'period drama'... 1982 to mid 90sConfused
Made me feel ...engaged.

backseatcookers · 29/07/2020 00:28

Seinfeld - best comedy ever

Curb your enthusiasm - fucking good too

Desperate Housewives - always surprises me how much I enjoy it

Prison Break - addictive

Little Fires Everywhere - my most recent binge

The Office (US / UK, either) - funny and wholesome all in one

The Royle Family - just gorgeous

The Killing - Such a great, moody drama

Killing Eve - prepare to fall in love with a psychopath. I know I did.

Pjsandbaileys · 29/07/2020 00:46

Mrs America
True to real life events
Think it was bbc 2 very thought provoking and at times controversial. The last episode left me questioning a lot.

KittCat · 29/07/2020 00:54

Seinfeld - hilarious
After life
Tudors
The white queen
The white princess
The spanish princess
Getting on

Pipeworkhelp · 29/07/2020 05:00
