Before becoming a mom, or whilst son and DH are at school and work, my laziest meal is thin air.

ChangeThePassword · 25/07/2020 18:50

@Oblomov20 what would class as lazy then, if not quick and easy?

What are your laziest meals?

Keeva2017 · 25/07/2020 19:13

@TheSmallAssassin I’m stealing that one!

FenellaMaxwell · 25/07/2020 19:17

A good one for being pregnant - chop up broccoli and put it on to boil in the same pan as pasta. When it’s cooked, stir in creme fraiche, black pepper and Parmesan.

PintOfGin · 25/07/2020 19:23

The brand Gallo do a 'risotto pronto' which is the easiest most delicious mushroom risotto. You just being it in a pan with water and cook for 10 minutes. It's honestly so yummy!
Other favorites:
Tuna, mayo, and sweetcorn pasta
Chicken supernoodles on toast topped with grated cheese Blush
Birds eye Turkey roast dinner microwave meal Blush

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/07/2020 19:26

Cheese and crisps, always have a selection of both in.

eandz13 · 25/07/2020 19:36

Crisp butty. Pot noodle butty. I envy those who's 'lazy' meals are still nutritional and can still be bothered to stand there slicing and chopping. I wish I was more like those people!

Daftodil · 25/07/2020 19:38

Toast a pita bread in the toaster, cut open, smear inside with pesto, put sliced cheese on top of pesto, close it up, zap in microwave for 30 seconds to melt the cheese. Devour.

InFiveMins · 25/07/2020 19:39

tuna pasta bake and eggy bread are quick, easy and tasty favourites in this house. also omelettes and savoury pancakes.

mogloveseggs · 25/07/2020 19:40

Has to be a fried egg butty

LongPauseNoReply · 25/07/2020 19:41

Bacon and eggs. It’s ready in 5 minutes

Daftodil · 25/07/2020 20:12

Boil fresh tortellini & frozen veg in a pan. Drain. Return to pan and stir in some Philadelphia soft cheese. 5 minutes, tops.

Camomila · 25/07/2020 20:45

Lazy dinner -
pesto and cream cheese pasta, sometimes with vegetables added to it.
oven pizza and prepared salad
2 slices of jam on toast and a milky coffee (not for DS though)

Lazy lunch - hummus and pepper bagel for me, hummus sandwhich and peppers on the side for DS
fried egg between 2 slices of toast

Spikeypineapples · 25/07/2020 20:48

Saute King prawns in garlic and chilli (the Very Lazy stuff out the jars)
Stir through plain, cooked spaghetti. Amazing.

BinkyBoinky · 26/07/2020 00:11

Fried mushrooms in garlic butter on toast.. so yum
A crispbake type thing or something that can be done in the oven like a individual pie or a lamb grillsteak/burger thing + oven chips
Salad

ViciousJackdaw · 26/07/2020 01:30

@Oblomov20

Most of these don't seem lazy to me. Just quick and easy.
I was thinking that too. A 'lazy' meal, to me, is one that requires as little action as possible. So that might be a FF sandwich, something that you simply bung on a tray and stick in the oven for 20 mins or even a pot noodle. Beans on toast with cheese, whilst being one of the greatest meals ever, requires you to heat beans, make and butter toast, grate cheese and assemble on plate in correct order. Definitely quick and easy but not lazy.
amb885 · 26/07/2020 05:53

thanks everyone Grin i'll definitely be making some of these! i managed 2 croissants with cream cheese this morning, of course it was a struggle though Wink

@ChangeThePassword

So you could have saved yourself typing the first five paragraphs if you'd just given the honest answer which is that your laziest meal is chicken nuggets and chips

Op didn't ask for our laziest meal. Op asked for our laziest meals.

And my current favourite laziest meal is the one it took five paragraphs to type. No idea why you have an issue with that.

Maybe because it seems somewhat disingenuous, particularly when compared to the other responses on this thread (both your own final line and other people's).
BruisedOrNot · 26/07/2020 07:01

'all the other responses' hadn't been posted when I typed it.

And its absolutely genuine. It is my go to lazy meal, it's something I have ready in my freezer most of the time. I rarely have chicken nuggets or similar for health reasons that you really don't want me to tell you about (but it's the same reason I use water rather than oil in my pesto). It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the ops question.

And its really no more effort than peeling and chipping potatoes, coating them in a teaspoon of oil and shaking the air fryer basket every five minutes for about twenty minutes. The pasta probably takes less time.

Honestly, if I'd been asked eighteen months ago my answer would have been different. It may well have been pasta with pesto from a jar, it wouldn't have been wholemeal tagliatelle though. But several doctors appointments and a colonoscopy later and what I eat has had to change massively. Hardly any meat, hardly any oil (hence why I make my own pesto), hardly any processed foods or takeaways, so I've found other solutions to having quick food.

So you can think what you like, you can believe me or not. I don't care, and I'm not going to engage further on the subject unless there is very good reason.

ChangeThePassword · 26/07/2020 07:02

Name change fail! Was going to post a thread about a different medical issue and changed my mind. Oops

speakout · 26/07/2020 07:05

Spaghetti bolognese. I make gallons of sauce and freeze it.

UnaCorda · 26/07/2020 07:37

@olivo

I consider lots of these proper meals, not lazy onesBlush! My lazy meal is microwaved pre prepared mashed potato with loads of grated vintage cheddar stirred in Grin
Yes, but this is Mumsnet, so you're inevitably going to get "laziest" meal suggestions that are practically worthy of a Michelin star.
Acrasia · 26/07/2020 07:41

Fresh bread from the local bakery and salted butter. Perfection!

Iloveyoutothefridgeandback · 26/07/2020 07:42

My very laziest meal would have to be a pot noodle sandwich

This is illegal in my country.

Mine would be slice of thick toast with passata spread on top, sprinkle on cheese and then toast under grill. Lazy pizza

itakephotos · 26/07/2020 07:52

@CottonHeadedNinyMuggins

Seriously Cheddar melting cheese pot, A bake at home baguette still warm from the oven with butter spread. Some sour cream and chive pringles and assorted dipping things - perhaps some mini cheddars, pizza twists, occasionally some of the 2 for £3 snacky bits (like chicken skewers et al)

Perhaps once a month with a bottle of wine shared - beautiful!

We call this dippy tea in our house!
