Mine is boiled spaghetti that I swirl around in a pan with olive oil, halved cherry tomatoes and then add basil, parmesan and black pepper.

Franticbutterfly · 25/07/2020 13:37

Fresh shop bought tortellini with pesto. 5 mins. Kids love it.

GameSetMatch · 25/07/2020 13:59

Our quickest meal is fish fingers in pitta bread, My kids call them Fish finger kababs, fish fingers in a pitta bread with salad and coleslaw. Really tasty a super quick

jan9876 · 25/07/2020 14:09

lidl mexican vegetables.
Put them in the microwave, add a tin of tuna and some chilli infused olive oil. And some hummus. Takes less than 5 minutes!

ohtheholidays · 25/07/2020 14:11

Greek flatbreads,hummus and feta cheese.

Stick the flatbreads in the toaster, spoon out the hummus and cut up the cheese and serve.

Takes less than 5 minutes and tastes gorgeous.

Sometimes I make it a bit healthier and I make myself some carrot and pepper sticks to have along side it.

BikeRunSki · 25/07/2020 14:51

I make spinach pesto. Blitz fresh spinach, cashews, garlic, water (or oil but I need to limit fats) together, add parmesan and maybe some fresh basil. No need to cook it. Freeze in ice cube trays, then store in a bag in the freezer. I use about four or five per serving.

It takes minutes. Water on to boil. Take out pesto, pop in a bowl and microwave to defrost (or take out a couple of hours before cooking). Cook pasta, I usually use wholewheat tagliatelle.

I usually prep salad for about four days, so I take out the boxes of chopped salad items, bung some on the plate. When the pasta is cooked, drain, stir through the pesto and maybe bung back on the cooker to make sure its heated through. Chuck on plate.

Takes a little more time than it takes the pasta to cook (and you can blitz the pesto while the pasta is cooking if you haven't made it in advance), is healthy and very easy.

Its lazy because I've done most of the work in advance. It's more effort than bunging stuff in the oven, granted, but it's worth it.

(I say that having had Southern fried chicken nuggets, chips and onion rings last night... But the fridge froze my salad, and I'm sticking to that excuse)

So you could have saved yourself typing the first five paragraphs if you'd just given the honest answer which is that your laziest meal is chicken nuggets and chips. Hmm

Classic mumsnet.

I don't have a name for mine. If I have left over mashed potato, I take a small pot, chopped tomatoes in the bottom, 1 or 2 egg yolks on the tomatoes, salt and pepper, top with mashed potato to the rim, grated cheese on top, a couple of pieces of butter - put in the oven until crusty cheese top. I normally add a couple of slices of bacon to the oven half way through cooking or sometimes cook some baked beans.

Op didn't ask for our laziest meal. Op asked for our laziest meals.

And my current favourite laziest meal is the one it took five paragraphs to type. No idea why you have an issue with that.

Quesadillas
Scrambled/boiled eggs on toast
Cheat’s shakshuka - empty a can of ratatouille into a frying pan, bring up to a simmer, crack a couple of eggs into it. Lid on, simmer for a few minutes, serve with bread.

Timesdone · 25/07/2020 16:47

Instant noodles & sweet chilli sauce from a bottle. Only for me though, not for a family meal.

MotherWol · 25/07/2020 16:49

@GameSetMatch - swap the pitas for wraps and you’ve got lazy fish tacos! We usually add a bit of shredded lettuce, salsa, avocado and a squeeze of lime.

BikerWife · 25/07/2020 16:55

Fish finger sandwiches, love them Grin

GracieLane · 25/07/2020 17:06

I used to make a 'risotto' for the kids that was made from white rice, a blob of butter, whatever veg we had (usually peas, carrots, broccoli), some chicken stock and cheddar cheese. Went down a storm! In fact, I need to start making it again!

All of my meals are pretty lazy these days tbh. I love things like tray bakes and pasta bakes that basically cook themselves. Or rotisserie chicken or chicken grills with salad and some shop bought salad either potato salad, pasta salad or coleslaw. I don't see any issue with making the most of the freezer section. I love using lazy garlic, lazy chilli, frozen chopped onions and peppers, aunt Bessie's everything with a just bung in the oven roast meat. I love using white sauce in a jar, and just adding herbs/spices/condiments and cheese/meat/fish.

Fried gnocchi I must try this!

Grumpbum123 · 25/07/2020 17:11

Marmite Pasta
Super noodles, handful grated cheese
Baked beans with frankfurter chopped on top then cheese

Grumpbum123 · 25/07/2020 17:12

Oh and when I was a student, rice, handful mixed veg. Cook serve with sweet chilli sauce

olivo · 25/07/2020 17:16

I consider lots of these proper meals, not lazy onesBlush! My lazy meal is microwaved pre prepared mashed potato with loads of grated vintage cheddar stirred in Grin

JRUIN · 25/07/2020 17:19

Fried egg and/or beans on toast with a sprinkling of grated cheese on top.

cologne4711 · 25/07/2020 17:21

I agree with (dried) pasta and red pesto from a jar.

Slightly less lazy but quite lazy - chicken curry. Rice goes in rice cooker. Chop and cook onion, add curry paste, add bits of chicken to seal and then a tin of coconut milk. Simmer for about 10 minutes, done.

On Mondays, cold chicken and oven chips and pickles after roast dinner on Sunday.

cologne4711 · 25/07/2020 17:22

Also cheese on toast and for my DH and DS, beans on toast.

Oblomov20 · 25/07/2020 17:30

Most of these don't seem lazy to me. Just quick and easy.

AgeLikeWine · 25/07/2020 17:33

M&S Indian ready meals. They really are excellent.
Pasta with green pesto from a jar.
Pizza & salad.
Good quality sausages (eg Heck 97%pork) with oven chips & baked beans.

sausagepastapot · 25/07/2020 17:40
